A Limited-Time Cupcake in Disney Springs Honors A Nostalgic Ice Cream Bar!

Do you like anything pink? If so, there is a new fun, summery flavor available at Sprinkles in Disney Springs that’s made for you!

Sprinkles Cupcakes

We recently learned about the cupcake flavors coming to Sprinkles this month, but the cupcake joint has added a new limited-time flavor to the mix!

Sprinkles is offering the Strawberry Shortcake Bar Cupcake! It comes in both cupcake and layer cake form (where cakes are sold), to which we say, “why not both?” The treat is made of a vanilla cupcake filled with strawberry compote and topped with strawberry buttercream frosting and scratch-made cookie crumble. We saw this flavor last year, and we’re glad it’s back!

©Sprinkles

It is only available May 10th through May 23rd, so you’ll have to act fast if you want to try it! The color combo is insanely cute, and you’ll probably feel a little nostalgic thinking of all the strawberry shortcake ice cream bars you used to eat (or still do, we don’t judge). It sounds too good to pass up, especially if you love all things pink! Head over to Sprinkles in Disney Springs before this flavor goes away, and we’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest Disney food news!

REVIEW: Disney World’s New Flamingo Treat Is For MEGA Frosting Fans!

Summer is flying into Disney World with tropical merchandise and refreshing drinks perfect for a sunny day!

The Grand Floridian

And, we’ve got our floral Minnie Ears in tote because we’re heading to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to try a NEW dessert that will make you feel like you’re kicking back on the beach!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom might be the place to see actual animals, but the Tropical Flamingo Miniature Gateau (wow, that’s a mouth-full, isn’t it?) is shaking its tail feathers at the Gasparilla Island Grill.

Look at That Cutie!

The golden sponge cake is filled with a tropical-flavored mousse with butter cream and a sugar flamingo. And, while that already sounds delicious, we can’t get over how stinkin’ cute this gateau is with those piped “feathers” and the flamingo head greeting guests!

The cake on the gateau was wonderfully light and moist, which is complimented by the flavorful mousse. The tropical flavors are a nice stand-out compared to the vanilla flavors of the buttercream and cake.

Buuut, we have to say that we wish there had been enough mousse and cake to balance ALL THAT FROSTING! While the buttercream tasted great, there was a LOT of it on the gateau, causing the other flavors to be drowned out a bit.

Flamingo Gateau

If you’re a mega icing fan (or your kids are snacking on this), you’d probably love it as is! Still, you may want to scrape off some of that frosting to really take in the flavors of the cake and tropical mousse instead.

A Peek Inside the Gateau

You can kick off your summer vacations with the Tropical Flamingo Miniature Gateau for $7.99 before exploring the rest of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! And, we’ll be sure to give you a look at the rest of the treats we spot around Disney World soon. Stay tuned with DFB for the latest Disney news and reviews!

It’s the first time in forever that we’ve seen Frozen Fractal Gifts open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is the second shop to reopen today after closing with the park last spring. Permit Filed for a BIG STEP on Disney World’s Star Wars Hotel!

We’re VERY excited for a certain hotel offering coming to Disney World soon. Can you guess which?

©Disney via IAAPA Expo 2020 Presentation

Yep, it’s the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. This totally immersive offering will debut in 2022 and we can’t WAIT to visit The Sublight Lounge, see a “REAL” lightsaber in person, and more! Now, we’re checking in on behind-the-scenes progress!

Today, Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit for “Project H Facility Wide Assets.” Project H is considered to be Project Halcyon — A.K.A. the name of the starcruiser!

The facility-wide assets are coming from a company called MAD Creative Fabrication that typically does themed set work. Yep, this could mean the actual theming of the starcruiser is about to take shape!

The other interesting thing to note is that the expiration date is January 29th, 2022. That means that’s the date that this specific work is expected to wrap completely.

NEWS: FDA Authorizes the Pfizer Vaccine for Kids Aged 12 to 15

As we’ve continued to see major breakthroughs in health and safety procedures, all adults in the United States became eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in the middle of April.

Minnie Mouse knows the importance of a comfortable face covering!

Moving forward, health officials have been working to possibly put vaccine passports in place, while the CDC has stated that fully vaccinated people can be outdoors without a mask. Now that adults have access to the vaccine, there’s been the question of when the vaccine would become available to people under the age of 16.

The New York Times has reported that the FDA has authorized the use of the Pfizer vaccine for 12 to 15 year olds. This is major progress as many kids have returned to in-person classes around peers and adults. Now that the FDA has undergone successful trials, the CDC will be meeting to discuss the data and make its own recommendations about the use of the vaccine for this age group moving forward.

Health & Safety Signs

Once the CDC gives its approval, Pfizer vaccinations for those aged 12 to 15 years old could become available immediately. Dr. Kristin Oliver, a pediatrician and vaccine expert at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, has stated, “This is great news. It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time to start protecting children in this age group.” The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is already available to anyone over 16.

Relaxation Station

The Pfizer vaccine has already been tested in groups of children aged 5 to 11 as well as ages 2 to 5. They plan to expand their research to children aged 6 months to 2 years old soon. Pfizer is looking to apply for FDA approval of the vaccine for groups aged 2 to 11 in September. The results from Moderna’s vaccine findings in those aged 12 to 17 will likely be released in the next few weeks, as research about the vaccine in ages 6 months to 12 years old will possibly be available later in the year.

Be Sure to Check Out All of Disney’s Policies

Currently, AstraZeneca is testing the vaccine in children aged 6 months and older, while Johnson & Johnson plans to wait for results in the trials conducted on participants over the age of 12 before testing in younger children.

Distancing Sign

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on everything you need to know about health and safety regulations moving forward. And, you can stay tuned with DFB for the latest news.
