ALL the Rides, Hotels, and Shops That Will Be CLOSED in Disney World Next Week

Sometimes, construction will take place in Disney World for some reason or another.

Main Street Confectionery is officially closed!

This can be caused by maintenance or refurbishment — and you’ll want to keep an eye out for any closures during your trip! So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for May 31st-June 6th, 2021.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents closed this January, after President Joe Biden was elected, in order to install an animatronic for him! This refurb happens every time a new U.S. President is elected.

The Hall of Presidents

Disney hasn’t announced when this show will reopen, but we’ll let you know when they do!

Learn More About the Hall of Presidents’ Refurbishment!

Walt Disney World Railroad

Meanwhile, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over 2 YEARS. Disney hasn’t made it super clear what’s goin’ on, but we do know that construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is blocking the Railroad’s path around the park.

Walt Disney World Railroad Construction

Now, TRON construction has likely been delayed, so there’s really no telling when we’ll get to ride the Railroad again. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date, either! But of course, we’ll keep ya in the loop as we learn more.

Check out the Main Street Station’s Makeover!

Main Street Confectionery

Our last Magic Kingdom construction project is happening over at Main Street Confectionery, which recently closed for a pretty long refurb! Most recently, we’ve seen construction walls pop up around the shop, indicating that work is underway.

Construction Walls

Surprise — Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for this, either! But in the meantime, you can grab all of your Confectionery favorites at Main Street Cinema — that’s your temporary stop for candy on Main Street, U.S.A.! And keep in mind that a few doors down, The Chapeau is closed, too.

Check Out What Main Street Confectionery Will Be Like When it Reopens!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

We’re hoppin’ over to some hotels! A HUGE project is underway at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station are being refurbed.

Monorail construction

As for the rooms — they’re getting a Moana-inspired makeover! We’ve gotten to take a peek at ’em, and they look stunning.

These reimagined rooms are available for stays beginning July 19th. The rest of the construction should be done this summer, too!

Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Lastly, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the Main Tower Guests Rooms are undergoing refurbishment. Construction is noisy, but other than that, visitors shouldn’t be too affected by this project. We were able to confirm with a Cast Member that all the work should wrap up by the end of September.

Construction All Around the Contemporary

Meanwhile, The Wave restaurant at the Contemporary is closing for a lengthy refurb in July. If you’re planning a visit this summer, you’ll want to keep that on your radar!

Learn More About the Refurb at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Well, that wraps up this week’s refurbishment update! We’ll keep ya in the loop with all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB!

Memorial Day 2021 Schedule Restrictions & Closures

Monday, May 31, 2021 is Memorial Day in the United States; a day of remembrance for those who perished while serving in the military.  During this national holiday, a number of schedule adjustments and restrictions apply to Disney Vacation Club members.

Review: Disney World’s Newest Dessert is Basically Icing With a Side of Cupcake

Disney World is welcoming a lot of guests right now for the long holiday weekend. In fact, we’re hearing reports that travel to Orlando this Memorial Day Weekend is close to 2019 tourism levels!

Capt. Cook’s!

If you happen to be one of those many travelers in Disney World over the next few days, we found a specialty cupcake at Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to commemorate the upcoming holiday.

The Memorial Day Cupcake, available on Mobile Order, is a Vanilla Cupcake with White Chocolate Mousse, Buttercream Icing and Blueberry Compote Swirl Filling, topped with Red, White and Blue Sprinkles, Blueberries and a Raspberry!

Memorial Day Cupcake

It’s a beautiful red, white, and blue-themed treat to kick off the summer season! But did it taste as wonderful as it looked?

Memorial Day Cupcake

Fair WARNING before you take a bite: this cupcake comes with a LOT of filling and a LOT of icing and is pretty messy! Grab extra napkins and perhaps a fork.

Memorial Day Cupcake

We typically find that cupcakes from the Polynesian rival perfection, but this one was a bit dry for our taste. While we’re typically thrilled to find lots of filling (and the center is definitely the best part of this cupcake), we would have actually preferred MORE cake with this treat.

That’s a LOT of filling and icing!! Like…a LOT.

The blueberry filling is a great balance of sweet and tart, but unfortunately, it’s overpowered by that white chocolate mousse. We ended up scraping a lot of the mousse off and enjoyed the cake, blueberry, and a bit of the buttercream — that combo was delightful.

A beautiful mess.

Wondering what else you should eat on your next Disney World vacation? We made an entire video on the 13 BEST food items you need to try if you’re visiting in 2021. Check it out here:

Memorial Day is only a few days away, so the Memorial Day Cupcake won’t be around for very long! If you want to take a trip over to the Polynesian (remember their Monorail station isn’t available right now!), stop by Capt. Cook’s this weekend if you want to try it for yourself for $5.99!

PHOTOS: Distancing Markers for Extended Queue Removed from Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

expedition-everest-queue-5

With physical distancing being slowly reduced throughout Walt Disney World, physical distancing markers are being removed in some areas. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, distancing markers have been removed from the extended queue of Expedition Everest. The extended queue previously ran over the bridge towards the Theater in the Wild. Despite the removal of markers from the extended queue, the line was trailing out into the sidewalk today. There are still distancing markers in the queue proper. We also saw distancing […]

What to Do When There Are STORMS in Disney World Next Week ⛈️

Headed to Disney World next week?

EPCOT

Well, you’re probably going to get packing pretty soon! If that’s the case, it’s important that you know what kind of weather you can expect when you get to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Will it be dry? Hot? Rainy? Let’s take a look at next week’s forecast!

Weather Forecast

According to The Weather Channel, this week is going to bring a BUNCH of stormy days. We’ve gotten off without rain for a few weeks in Orlando, but it looks like that might change.

Animal Kingdom

On the bright side, it’s going to be a little bit cooler than the 90s temperatures of last week, you’ll just need to focus on staying dry at times! Let’s take a look.

May 31st

Monday, May 31st will start the week with a dip from last week’s temperatures. Don’t be fooled though, a high 80s day is still going to be on the warm side. That day is going to max out at an 88-degree high and we’ll see 71 degrees at night.

©The Weather Channel

We kick off the week with scattered thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. You better get used to it too! Storms are the norm this week; don’t worry, we’ve got some tips to help you with staying dry and comfy in just a sec.

June 1st

The next day, June 1st brings us a SLIGHTLY cooler forecast with a high of 87 degrees during the day and keeping that low down at a VERY comfortable 71 degrees.

©The Weather Channel

Fewer storms are the prediction here, but you will have to contend with extreme UV levels. Make sure you prep for some serious sun.

June 2nd

On Wednesday, June 2nd, we’re going to see temps edge down just a little bit more. So, we’ll be walking around the parks in the mid-80s again. Your low is gonna ease up a little for another comfy evening.

©The Weather Channel

The challenge with many of the days next week is that you’ll be dealing with hot temperatures and high UV levels, while also having to be ready for rain at any moment. Well, that’s Florida for you!

June 3rd

For Thursday, June 3rd, we’re seeing a day with pretty much the same temps in the mid-80s and a beautiful evening at 73 degrees.

©The Weather Channel

We get a lot of daylight here in Florida! You’ll see the sun from 6:30AM-ish to 8:15PM-ish most days.

June 4th

The week continues with similar temperatures in the day and another low 70s night on June 4th.

©The Weather Channel

Surprise (Just kidding.)! There are more scattered thunderstorms in the prediction for this day. Pack that poncho!

June 5th

Saturday, June 5th brings us slightly more mild temps with a drop to the mid-80s. This is by no means cool, but if a storm happens across, you might find yourself with very comfy temperatures just after.

©The Weather Channel

Here, we’ll see an 86-degree high and a 73-degree low.

June 6th

And we’ll wrap up our week on June 6th with still toasty temperatures and yet another day where you could see some rain.

©The Weather Channel

Keep in mind, it probably won’t rain all day any of these days, and you might not even be caught in a storm at all! Still, it’s best to be prepared because you never know when the skies could open up.

Overview of the Week

Here is a full overview of the week according to The Weather Channel. Temperatures are projected to hang out in about the same place for the whole week. We’re looking at a range of 80s highs and 70s lows.

Other websites like Click Orlando News 6

…and WESH 2 News have similar forecasts throughout the week.

Keep an eye on those rain chances as you’re heading up to your trip and when you get here. Right now, those storms are scattered, but you never know when the forecast might change to be much rainier (or dryer)!

Tips for Weathering the Weather!

We’ve got you covered with some tips to help you out with next week’s weather!

Prep for rain!

As you can probably tell from the forecast, rain could happen at any time (maybe without warning). It’s important that you pack a rain layer with you in your park bag lest you end up totally soaked.

Storm Clouds

Plus, since these are STORMS in the forecast, you might want to make a plan to ride any outdoor must-do attractions in the morning. Storms tend to roll through in the afternoon and they can close rides like Test Track, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and more.

And prep for sun!

You might be super prepped for the rain this week, but you have to prep for the sun too. It’s going to be hot and those UV levels are on the high end of the scale every day. It’s important that you stay safe and comfy so you don’t end up dehydrated or dealing with a nasty sunburn.

Free Water at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies

Drink LOTS of water (which you can get for free from most quick-service spots), apply sunscreen often, and wear a hat and/or sunglasses. You’ll thank yourself later when you’re not dealing with any painful repercussions.

How Many OBSCURE Characters Do YOU Know From This Disney Collection?!

We love a shiny new Disney Dooney and Bourke Collection!

Uptown Jewelers

These designer bags are typically very eye-catching and often inspired by some of our favorite characters and films. We’ve seen everything from a Tinker Bell collection to bags inspired by very RARE characters. Well, the upcoming collection might just feature the most obscure Disney characters yet… .

We were strolling through Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom today when we spotted a display for the coming soon Disney Afternoon collection. The new set of Dooney and Bourke bags will be available at Uptown Jewelers Wednesday, June 2nd.

Disney Afternoon Collection

The Disney Afternoon was a popular TV block that featured Disney cartoons like Adventures of the Gummi Bears, DuckTales, Goof Troop, and more in the 1990s. That means some very RARE characters are featured on these bags!

Disney Afternoon Collection

We spot more popular faces like Goofy, Max, and Chip ‘n Dale, but some Disney fans might not recognize Tummi Gummi or Gadget Hackwrench. If you LOVED these Disney characters, this might be one of your few chances to snag them on merchandise!

Disney Afternoon Collection

The collection will feature at least these three bags priced at $158 for the smallest, $198 for the crossbody, and $268 for the largest.

Disney Afternoon Collection

We’ll be keeping a close eye out for this collection to hit the shelves on June 2nd, so stay tuned to DFB to get a better look then!
