Video: We Just Met The Most Determined Character In Disney World!

We love going to Disney World and seeing all the characters.

Goofy!

And although character meet and greets aren’t happening right now, the character cavalcades and the character interactions (Alice, Mary Poppins, Rapunzel, Pooh, and more) have been a LOT of fun!

But we recently had a character interaction that didn’t quite go according to plan… .

While we were enjoying a simple Disney World meal, this real-life character jumped on our table and tried to steal our food! Yes, an adorable Disney squirrel decided that she must ALSO have a taste of that amazing Disney food. And we captured her hilarious antics on video!

Now we want to reiterate that we did not feed the squirrel, and you shouldn’t feed people food to any wild animals at Disney World either (it’s not good for them). But we wanted to share this funny interaction with you in hopes it might put a smile on your face like it did ours! Here’s hopin’ this squirrel mama found some food soon thereafter. And we’ll keep you up to date on our WILD adventures in Disney World!

Rise of the Resistance’s boarding group process is showing the same unusual step pattern we saw yesterday, with a short delay every few boarding groups.  It looks like some of these boarding groups are only open for about half an hour, too, so this might be some sort of technical issue either with the ride, with how MDE is reporting these data, or something else.  Still, it looks like ROTR will get to boarding group 160 at this rate.

Here’s Why It Might Take LONGER To Get Food At Disneyland

Mobile Order can often be convenient, but with several restaurants at Disney Parks using it, it can also create a host of problems, as we’ve seen at Disney World.

Cocina Cucamonga

And we’re starting to see some issues at Disneyland Resort, too, which recently reopened. If you thought waiting 30-45 minutes at for a meal at Disney World was bad, just wait until you hear how long guests waited for their Mobile Order at Disneyland today!

Today, we decided to Mobile Order some food from Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, so that’s what we did! And once we arrived, we clicked on the “We are here, Prepare Our Food” option on the app. And then we waited…and waited…and waited…for AN HOUR. We noticed it wasn’t just us. There were TONS of people standing around waiting for their orders.

Waiting for food

The line waiting for food was backed up onto the bridge leading to Pixar Pier!

Backed up to the bridge

This also created problems with table availability — guests were at tables longer because the process of getting food took SO long. There are only certain areas designated for eating, too. We DID eventually get our food, but it took a while.

Eventually we got our food

As we typically say, we’d recommend eating at hours that aren’t popular lunch and dinner times if you’re using Mobile Order — those wait times for food will usually be lower. We’ll keep covering how Mobile Order is working at Disneyland and let you know about any other long waits, too!

Festival of the Lion King Has Returned to Disney World — Here’s How It Changed!

Today was a HUGE day for Disney World!

Celebration of The Festival of The Lion King

When Disney World reopened last year, much of the live entertainment was suspended. But then we got the news that Festival of the Lion King would return to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. And today, the show returned for a soft reopening, and WE WERE THERE!

So amidst our happy tears, we started to note some of the changes to the show since we last saw it. We knew it would return in a modified format, and that the new show would be called “A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King.” But here’s how different the show is now.

Group Sizes

Currently, seating inside the theater is limited, and you MUST have your whole group together when you enter the theater.

All parties must stay together

Lines

In line, only four people maximum can stand on a social distancing marker, so larger groups will be split up. There is also no eating or drinking allowed inside the theater.

We’re going in…

Seating

Every other row inside the theater is sectioned off to allow for social distancing.

Every other row is closed

There are also certain sections of benches closed off, too. Basically, each section seats four people. So your party will be split up if it’s bigger than that.

This section is blocked

The Show

The show itself is also a little different to account for new health and safety guidelines. The choreography is now slightly different as it allows performers to be more socially distant.

There’s more space between performers

The show also no longer encourages guests to singalong. Instead, they are encouraged to wave and clap.

Singing along is no longer encouraged

The part of the show that names each section of the audience a different animal is no longer in the show and it it’s no longer referenced. We also noticed that guests don’t come out for the little parade section. The tumble monkeys are also gone.

It’s still a great show!

Also, the birds no longer fly, but they dance their feathers off!

Dancing birds!

There’s no audience participation as far as singing and walking around goes, but you can still clap and wave along with the actors! Also, all the songs are still there. And the guy with fire — he’s pretty cool! All in all, it’s still one of THE best shows on Disney World property. So even in its modified format, this show is still on our Do Not Miss List! Although it’s soft opened for now, it officially opens on May 15th.

Everything We Know About Disney World’s Star Wars Hotel

We got some BIG news earlier this week about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel coming to Disney World!

While this immersive experience was initially scheduled to open in 2021, it was pushed back to 2022 — and we got tons of info about dining, a sneak peek at a SUPER cool lightsaber, and so much more. In fact, we got SO much news that it can all be just a little confusing! Which is why we’re here: to break down everything we know (so far!) about this hotel. Let’s get started!

What Will the Experience Be Like?

While we refer to Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser as a “hotel,” it’s actually more of an experience! It’s very much like a cruise in that guests will arrive and depart together for their 2-night stay. And in those 2 days, you can expect to participate in Star Wars activities and Star Wars activities only. There likely won’t be transportation over to Magic Kingdom, for example!

So WHERE will you stay? Aboard the Halcyon, of course! You’ll check-in at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal and then enter a Launch Pod that will jump to hyperspace as you travel to your destination. And don’t forget — you’ll be able to travel straight to your “port stop” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios via another transport pod: the Chandrila Star Line!

Once aboard the Halcyon, you’ll be totally immersed in the Star Wars experience — so much so that EVERY window in the hotel looks out into the galaxy! You’ll be able to interact with characters like Kylo Ren and the Stormtroopers, learn how to wield your own lightsaber (more on that later!), and visit the Bridge to operate the ship.

And what’s super cool about your stay here is that it’s all connected into one big story — one that YOU have complete control of. So go forth and create your own Star Wars adventure! Every choice you make counts.

What Will the Rooms Look Like?

Your immersive experience touches every aspect of this adventure — including the guest cabins! And Disney’s given us a peek into one of those. On one side, you’ll have a bed, a pullout table, and a “window” looking out into space…

…while the other side features bunk beds with reading lights! Down that short hallway, you’ve got your exit to the rest of the ship and a door to what we’re assuming is the restroom.

And while those images are mock-ups, we’ve also gotten a look inside the ACTUAL rooms, thanks to the Imagineers!

The space looks a little small, but we’re excited to visit it and see it for ourselves.

How Much Will it Cost?

The short answer is…Disney hasn’t announced that just yet. They also haven’t stated if you’ll be charged on a “per night” basis or for the entire experience — and if so, what, exactly, is included in that experience.

But it’s safe to say that Disney can likely charge more than they would for a typical deluxe hotel stay. When we asked our readers, they tended to think the cost would fall in the $1000-$3000 range. That seems like a safe bet to us — but we’ll wait for the official word from Disney!

Here’s What YOU Had to Say About How Much This Hotel Will Cost!

What Dining Will Be Available?

Disney’s announced TWO restaurants so far: The Sublight Lounge and the Crown of Corellia Dining Room! The Sublight Lounge will serve as a “warm and inviting retreat for passengers of all ages.” It’ll also have some pretty cool specialty sips!

You’ll be able to enjoy heavier offerings at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, which will serve breakfast and lunch as well as a “lavish,” more formal dinner. There will even be live entertainment in the evenings!

We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we learn even more about these dining options — and any others that are announced!

What Activities Will Be Available?

We’ve already touched on some of the experiences aboard the Halcyon, but now we’re going to take a deeper dive! Like we mentioned, you’ll be able to interact with Star Wars characters, learn to operate the ship’s defense systems, and sneak around to have secret meetings. And Disney’s newest job descriptions give us a hint about exactly who we’ll encounter while onboard!

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

You’ll ALSO get to train with a lightsaber! But there’s something really special about this experience, because Disney’s brand-new, REAL lightsaber will debut with Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. We’ve previously seen this tech teased at a private press event, and it looks like we’ll get to see it for real onboard the Halcyon.

No word on if you’ll get to be the one to wield this expandable lightsaber, or if it will be more for show. But we’ll keep you posted!

Read More About This New Lightsaber!

With the opening of Galactic Starcruiser inching closer, we’re sure we’ll hear LOTS more about what’s to come. And we’ll keep you posted with every little detail, so stay tuned to DFB!
