REVIEW: Beautiful Memorial Day Cupcake Arrives at Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

New Memorial Day cupcake with white chocolate mousse at Capt. Cook's at the Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World

Earlier today we stopped by Capt. Cook’s at the Polynesian Village Resort to try out their new Memorial Day cupcake! What did we think of it, you ask? Memorial Day Cupcake with White Chocolate Mousse – $5.99 At first glace, this cupcake had us worried. It looked like it was built up with a ton of frosting, but thankfully it was layered quite artfully so that it looked full and beautiful without mounding on the sugary frosting. The white chocolate […]

REVIEW: New Raspberry Dole Whip “Firecracker” Cone at Pineapple Lanai in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

firecracker-cone-9

Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a new patriotic raspberry Dole Whip cone just in time for Memorial Day. Firecracker Cone – $5.29 Raspberry soft-serve with patriotic sprinkles and popping “firecracker” candy We’ve had raspberry Dole Whip in floats before, and it has a fake raspberry taste, but it’s still good. There are pop rocks sprinkled on top, which don’t active until in your mouth. They—as well as the star sprinkles—don’t add flavor just fun novelty. The cone […]

UPDATE on the New Transportation Service that Will Replace Disney’s Magical Express

Earlier this year, Disney announced that the Magical Express will be discontinued in January of 2022.

Disney’s Magical Express

Mears, the company that operates the Magical Express for Disney, later announced that they will be offering a new transportation service that will essentially replace the Magical Express. Previously, Mears’ new service was set to become available for booking in May of 2021, but it seems like things may have changed.

Mears Connect is the NEW service that will be offered by Mears for guests looking for a Magical Express replacement. It will start being offered in January of 2022. Mears notes that it will provide the “same reliable, safe, express service” for guests looking to travel to and from the airport and the Disney Resort area.

Previously, Mears’ website noted that guests would be able to make their reservations through Mears Connect starting in May of 2021.

The Mears website has since changed, however. It now notes that you’ll be able to make your reservation through Mears Connect starting “summer 2021” and says that it will be “accepting reservations soon.”

Considering that we are near the end of May and reservations are not yet available, it appears the start date on which these reservations will become available may be slightly delayed.

In the meantime, guests can continue to enjoy the Magical Express until it is discontinued next year. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates on this and let you know what we find.

Review: Would You Pay Over $20 For Dessert in Disney World?

Disney’s latest live-action reinterpretation of an animated classic, Cruella, is now in theaters and available on Disney+ via Premier Access!

Amorette’s Patisserie

This week, Disney World has rolled out some new treats inspired by the movie. We already checked out the XOXO, Cruella at The Ganachery, but now we’re heading to Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs to celebrate the arrival of the new film!

The Cruella Petit is Vanilla Chiffon Cake and Graham Cake with Milk Chocolate Mousse and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough!

Cruella Petit Cake

Amorette’s has also released these special Petit Cakes in the past for new film and TV releases as well as holidays (remember when they had all of those mini TV cakes for WandaVision?), so we knew we had to grab one of these to commemorate the release of Cruella!

Cruella Petit Cake

The cake is decorated in the same “punk” style that you’ll see throughout the movie — très chic if you ask us! It’s topped with a fondant fashion illustration of Cruella herself with bright red lips, also made out of fondant (Disney is on a roll today with those edible lips).

Cruella Petit Cake

This is a very fun dessert! The whipped cream icing that surrounds the cake was delicious and very light. We loved the Vanilla Chiffon Cake, and you could really taste the graham cracker in the Graham Cake layer! The Cookie Dough had mini chocolate chips mixes in, but there was only one layer of the dough — we wish there was more!

Cruella Petit Cake

When we cut into our petit cake, however, we were SURPRISED to see that the Vanilla Chiffon Cake was also layered with Red Velvet Cake! The card in the display case didn’t mention this ingredient, so we were totally taken off guard in the best way possible!

Surprise ingredient!

This is definitely a very RICH dessert, but also a pricey one — Amorette’s Petit Cakes are usually on the higher end of the price point, and at $22 the Cruella Petit Cake is no exception. But if you love Cruella de Vil and you have a friend to share this with, we think you’ll enjoy it!

We’ll be on the lookout for more tasty treats around Disney World! Be sure to follow along as we try all of the newest snacks around the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.

PHOTOS: See What Disney World’s Star Wars Hotel Looks Like Now

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (a.k.a. the Star Wars Hotel that isn’t actually a hotel) will be opening in 2022!

A Model of the Halcyon in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

So far, we’ve gotten a look at some of the characters you’ll meet during your intergalactic journey, a peek at the “real” lightsaber guests will get to check out there, and an update on some signage coming to the hotel. But what does the construction at the actual hotel look like right now? How are things coming together? We’ve got an update and are sharing it all with you!

Recently, bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct on Twitterposted a series of arial photos of the construction area surrounding Galactic Starcruiser. Here’s a look at the hotel from a bit of a distance.

©Bioreconstruct via Twitter (@bioreconstruct)

In the photo below you can see part of the entrance to the Galactic Starcruiser experience (on the left side), what appears to be a large show building (likely where many activities will be located, like lightsaber training), and a building in the back with windows that appears to be for the guest cabins.

©Bioreconstruct via Twitter (@bioreconstruct)

Here’s another look at the building from a different view. It looks like the entrance/drop-off area is coming together and that the main buildings are also fairly complete at least from what we can tell from the outside. It looks like quite a lot of landscaping is also now in place in various spots surrounding the hotel.

©Bioreconstruct via Twitter (@bioreconstruct)

One of the things guests are supposed to be able to do as part of the Galactic Starcruiser experience is take an excursion trip over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But, you won’t just be traveling there by a regular car or bus. Instead, guests will be transported through a specially themed vehicle.

The photo below shows what appears to be the docking area for these transport ships at the hotel.

©Bioreconstruct via Twitter (@bioreconstruct)

And in the photo below you can see what appears to be some construction going on in the area behind Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s believed that this will be the transport shuttle terminal area where the transport ships will pull up and where guests will be able to then go into Galaxy’s Edge.

©Bioreconstruct via Twitter (@bioreconstruct)

And that’s a look at how things look like now on the construction for the Star Wars Hotel.

Reservations for the Star Wars Hotel experience still aren’t available, but we’ll definitely be on the lookout for more updates on that. And we’ll keep an eye out for more construction updates or other information about the experiences we’ll get to enjoy when Galactic Starcruiser opens. Stay tuned for more information!
