5 Disney World Ride, Hotel, and Store Closures You Need to Know About!

At any given time, Disney World is undergoing a few refurbishments!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

It’s all part of keepin’ the parks nice and spiffy for your vacation — but you’ll want to know exactly how these projects will affect your visit. So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for May 10th through May 16th.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents closed in January this year to install an animatronic for President Joe Biden. This is pretty typical — it’s a tradition that happens each time a new U.S. President is elected!

The Hall of Presidents

Disney has not yet announced a reopening date, but we’ll be sure to keep ya posted with any news!

Learn More About the Hall of Presidents’ Refurbishment!

Walt Disney World Railroad

If you thought a couple of months was a long closure, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over 2 YEARS! Curious why? Well, construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is obstructing the train’s path around the park.

Main Street Train Station

That path will have to be cleared before the Railroad can run again, and for the path to be cleared, the TRON construction will have to make significant progress. But with the project likely delayed, that could be awhile. We’ll keep an eye out for any updates!

Check out the Main Street Station’s Makeover!

Main Street Confectionery

Over on Main Street, U.S.A., the Main Street Confectionery has shuttered for a lengthy closure! But don’t worry: while the space receives a little TLC, you can swing by Main Street Cinema to pick up all of your favorite goodies.

Main Street, U.S.A.

Disney hasn’t announced when this classic shop will reopen, but it’s currently listed on Disney’s refurbishment calendar through July 17th. That’s as far out as that calendar currently goes, so we could see this closure last even longer. And elsewhere on Main, Street, U.S.A, remember that The Chapeau is closed, too!

Check Out What Main Street Confectionery Will Be Like When it Reopens!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

We’re seeing some changes at the hotels, too! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing a HUGE refurbishment that involves changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station.

Polynesian Construction

As for the guest rooms? They’re getting a Moana retheme! We took a peek inside, and they look awesome.

©Disney

You can currently book these rooms for stays from July 19th forward! We’re expecting those other refurbishments around the resort to finish up this summer, too.

Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Another big project just began at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! The Main Tower Guest Rooms are being refurbished, which makes them currently unavailable to guests. However, Disney has stated that other resort amenities should remain unaffected.

The construction has begun!

If you’re planning a stay here — or even just a quick visit! — you’ll want to be aware that the construction is LOUD. But it shouldn’t last too long! A Cast Member confirmed that the work is scheduled to wrap up at the end of September.

Learn More About the Refurb at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Last but not least, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is getting a touch-up! The waterslide and splash zone at Meadow Swimmin‘ Pool are being refurbished through the end of the month.

Work happening on the slide!

While you may notice the construction on your visit, it shouldn’t affect ya much. Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool are both still open for you to enjoy!

That’s it for our refurbishment updates this week! Stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep you in the loop with plenty more Disney news.

Review: This Pretty Mimosa Will Cost You an Even Prettier Penny in Disney World

Whew… our trip to Disney Springs today has been PACKED with SNACKS!

Blood Orange Mimosa in Disney Springs

From a favorite returning Dole Whip Swirl to a stunning donut (no, really… get a load of this thing), we’ve been trying all sorts of specialty treats for Mother’s Day weekend. But after all those snacks, we could definitely use a SIP! And that’s what brings us to Amorette’s Patisserie, just steps away from World of Disney.

One of two specialty items Amorette’s is serving this Mother’s Day weekend is the Canella Blood Orange Mimosa.

Minnie Mimosas!

Of course, you could order a Mimosa with Rosa Regale, if you prefer. Either way, it’s topped with a signature white chocolate Minnie topper, complete with a bow!

A Minnie-topped Mimosa

Cheers!

This bit of bubbly really does sparkle with blood orange flavor. It’s definitely an enjoyable drink.

Blood Orange Mimosa

It’s less sweet than your typical mimosa with the blood orange cutting that usual sweetness — very nice. Buuuuut….

Raise a glass!

It’s going to run you a very pretty penny at $19.00. If you really need that Minnie-topped photo (and we can’t blame you, it IS a fun picture, no?), then go for it.

This pretty Mimosa is also a pretty penny…

But as far as Mimosas and fun wine cocktails go, you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. (You can grab a Frozcato from The Basket at Wine Bar George, for instance, and we also love the refreshing Sorbet Spritzes at the outdoor counter at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill.)

Oh! I mentioned that the Mimosa was one of TWO specialty treats for Mom at Amorette’s, didn’t I?

Strawberry Bouquet sign

And here’s it is… look at this lovely Strawberry Bouquet, full of chocolate-covered strawberries and heart-shaped chocolates!

Strawberry Bouquet

For $12.00, this is a very lovely gift, don’t you think? But there’s no shortage of ways to treat Mom in Disney World this weekend… and you can check out the whole list here! We’ll keep bringing you MORE of Mother’s Day weekend in Disney World right here on the DFB!

What’s the Difference Between Disney World’s After Hours Boo Bash and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Halloween is going to look a little bit different this year again.

Boo Bash ©Disney

In 2020, most after-hours events were canceled in Disney World due to the global health crisis — including Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This year, the Halloween party has been canceled AGAIN but we’re getting the After Hours BOO BASH in its place. So, what’s the difference?

The first big change comes with the length of the party. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary has historically run from 7PM to midnight making it a 5-hour event. The After Hours BOO BASH, which will take place in Magic Kingdom like Not So Scary, will be a 3-hour event from 9PM to midnight. But according to Disney, “Disney After Hours BOO BASH tickets will grant admission to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM without the need for a day park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation.”

Happy, Happy HALLOWEEN!

The BOO BASH does take after Not-So-Scary in some ways. The event will feature party music, Halloween decorations, Disney attractions, and “oh-so-eerie entertainment” just like year’s past. But, some of the offerings will be modified from what we’d typically see at a Not-So-Scary party.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

For instance, don’t expect to see the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. Instead, we’ll see Halloween-themed character cavalcades like we did in 2020. Characters to pop up might include Dr. Facilier, Captain Barbossa, and of course, classic pals like Goofy and Chip ‘n’ Dale.

Boo-to-You Parade

Another similarity to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the Cadaver Dans (the Halloween-y version of the Dapper Dans) are joining the festivities at the BOO BASH. And you’ll get to try themed treats and treat stops which you KNOW we’re excited about. Plus, grown-ups can get dressed up just like in years past. We’re interested to see how the candy spots are handled this year since that is a high touchpoint.

Cadaver Dans!

So, really, the biggest differences at the BOO BASH this year are the shorter hours of the party and the lack of entertainment like the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and the Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks show.

Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular

Plus, as of the announcement, Disney has not mentioned any return of meet and greets (since they are still temporarily suspended) with Halloween-y characters or Halloween overlays on select attractions at this time. Instead, we will just see friendly characters hanging out at a distance around the park!

Grumpy

Even though our Disney World Halloween celebrations will be modified, we’re still excited to have a chance at an After Hours event again. We’ll bring you more details as Disney releases them and of course, FULL COVERAGE of the event when it launches in August!

PHOTOS: Pin Traders Has Reopened in Disney World

An EPCOT store just finished up a mini refurb!

Pin Traders

Last month, Pin Traders (that’s the store underneath Spaceship Earth!) closed for a couple of weeks. And while we’re seeing LOTS of construction and changes at EPCOT right now, this little project seemed kinda unrelated! But now, Pin Traders has officially reopened, and we took a trip over to see what, exactly, has changed.

While the inside of the store seemed, oddly enough, practically identical to its pre-closure look

It looks the same!

we DID notice a change outside! Did ya spot it yet?

Here’s a look outside!

It turns out, the pavement has been changed! The ground in front of Pin Traders used to be a smooth red, but it’s now a pebbly pavement.

It’s pebbly!

Here’s a look at exactly where the ground switches up!

New pavement!

Now, as for WHY this little change took place…who knows, right? But we’re digging the new look — and we’re certainly happy to see Pin Traders back! Stay tuned to DFB for plenty more Disney news.

Review: Disney World’s New Donut Is HUGE (and Shareable!)

Happy (almost) Mother’s Day, DFB friends!

Disney Springs

Disney’s rolling out lots of special treats for the occasion, and we’ve already tried a LOT of ’em. That includes a key lime pie/Dole Whip combo and a REALLY pretty butterfly cupcake! But we hopped over to Disney Springs today to try another dessert, this time from Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew.

The Mother’s Day Donut is your typical glazed donut with a TON of vanilla icing! There’s also a gorgeous flower on top. And sure, this treat is extra pretty…but how does it taste?

Mother’s Day Donut

We really enjoyed it! It is just your everyday vanilla donut, but we tend to love Everglazed’s offerings, so even this “plain” donut was pretty great.

So pretty!

You will wanna note that there is a LOT of icing. It can be a bit much if you’re not a big icing fan, but just scrape it off and you’ll be good to go! It’s an easy fix for an otherwise tasty treat.

The size (and sweetness!) of this donut makes it perfectly shareable. If you’ve got a few kiddos, cut this baby up in a few pieces and pass ’em out! Or, mothers out there can have this ALL to themselves. You deserve it, right?!

That’s a LOT of icing!

You can swing by Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew to grab this for $5.50! It is a limited time offering, so you’ll want to hurry if you want to snag this before it goes away. And stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep reviewing plenty more Mother’s Day treats for ya!
