Beverly Sunset Boutique on Sunset Boulevard has finally reopened its doors. It did not reopen with Disney’s Hollywood Studios last year, so this has been an extended closure. EPCOT’s posted wait times today were the 13th-highest of the past month, making EPCOT the busiest park in Walt Disney World today. No doubt everyone was there to have a margarita at Disney World’s best bar, La Cava del Tequila, in the Mexico pavilion in World Showcase. Beyond EPCOT, crowds were relatively moderate at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and low at Magic Kingdom.

Rise of the Resistance is having a pretty good day of operations. Rise began calling boarding groups around 8:30 AM, and ran steadily until around boarding group 66 at 12:15 PM, when there was a delay of around 20 minutes in calling more boarding groups. And it looks like the pace of calling boarding groups was slower than usual until around boarding group 75 or so, around 1:30 PM. Still, Rise of the Resistance was able to call just under 170 boarding groups today, and that’s a pretty good day.

Upon reopening, several new character experiences have debuted around Disneyland Resort. We kept an eye out for some of these new distanced meet-and-greets in Paradise Gardens Park at Disney California Adventure. Let’s see who we found! If you’ve visited the Walt Disney World Resort or Universal Orlando Resort since the parks reopened, you’ll know that one of the things you had to do prior to entering the parks, dining locations, and more is having your temperature checked. Soon, temperature checks will be a thing of the past.
According to Disney in regards to temperature checks:
Since reopening, we have considered guidance from public health authorities, government agencies, and our own team of health and safety experts as we assess and update health and safety measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As this guidance continues to evolve, and with the support of local health and government officials, we are making some additional adjustments. Following the advice of the CDC and our local health officials, we will phase out onsite temperature screenings at Walt Disney World Resort for Cast Members beginning May 8 and Guests on May 16.
We will continue to follow the guidance of health and safety leaders going forward and most importantly encourage people to get vaccinated.
Universal Orlando Resort is also following suit, but for them, the ending of the temperature screenings begins immediately. In addition, they will be changing the social distancing stipulations from 6 feet to 3 feet.
We’re excited to enhance your Universal experience with the latest safety updates from local health and government officials. There are no more temperature checks upon entry. And Social Distancing between travel parties is now reduced to three feet (1 meter). Still, most of our original safety protocols remain unchanged—from wearing face coverings across our Resort to our ongoing dedication to cleanliness and sanitization.
It was recently announced by government officials that these types of changes could begin to occur throughout the state.
There is no word if the Walt Disney World Resort will also change their social distancing to 3 feet, but if something does change, we’ll let you know. Also, we’ll keep you posted as more updates occur in relation to safety guideline updates for both Walt Disney World and the Universal Orlando Resort.
One of the most unique services that the Walt Disney World Resort has introduced is the Capture Your Moment option from Disney PhotoPass. Originally this was only offered at the Magic Kingdom, but it’s soon going to be available at another park – Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Don’t know what Capture Your Moment is? It’s a personalized 20-minute photo session with a Disney PhotoPass photographer that Guests reserve in advance. The best part? It’s a great option for those celebrating a special occasion, such as a proposal, baby announcement, honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, graduation, first visit, or something else fun!
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Capture Your Moment sessions will take place on or nearby Discovery Island, where you can get stunning views of the Tree of Life.
Guests will check in for their photo session at the ticket and information desk located outside of Island Mercantile. At that time, your photographer will discuss available photo shoot locations and ask a few questions to determine how the session can be customized to your needs. After being escorted to your photo shoot location, you’ll have the opportunity to capture photos for up to 20 minutes.
And, the best part is that, yes, you will be able to temporarily remove face coverings while actively taking outdoor photos, but of course, you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing while doing so.
Each Capture Your Moment photo session is $50 and can include up to eight guests. Prints and digital downloads are not included with the price, however, those with Memory Maker or Memory Maker One Day, as well as qualifying Annual Passholders can download the photos taken during Capture Your Moment from their Disney account at no extra cost.
Bookings for Capture Your Moment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are now available.Sessions will be offered daily beginning on May 17. To book a session, you can do so online or by calling 407-939-7758.

One of our favorite Disney souvenirs is mugs. Because here’s the thing — they’re useful. You can use them for beverages (obviously), but they also make good places to put your pens, keep change in, keep other items in, etc. You can’t have too many Disney mugs!
But the mug we saw today at Disney World is all about a certain German festival that reminds us of beer and food — a particular kind of food: Brats! And it’s very punny with “Don’t be a brat” on it with a classic German brat on a bun. The handle even looks like a Bratwurst!
