3 Restaurants See BIG Menu Updates and a New Ice Cream Shop Opens in Disney World

It’s been a fun week at Disney World! We’ve been celebrating the reopening of Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Boardwalk and trying out some new snacks!

Time for Some Ice Cream!

We discovered a NEW ice cream shop and tasted some super yummy donuts, a unique Pina Colada, and fruity potato chips! But we’re not done because we’ve also been keeping an eye on menu updates at Disney World restaurants this week. So hang on tight because we’ve got a few!

EPCOT

Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie

One of our favorite snacks has returned to one of our favorite EPCOT joints! It’s the Roulé aux Fromage — formerly known as the Roule Lard et Fromage. It looks a little different, and when we first got a peek at it, it didn’t quite have as much bacon on it.

Now with more bacon!

However, we later found that the universe listened to our mention about the lack of bacon, and a newer version of the snack appeared with MORE bacon. WIN!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Territory Lounge

Territory Lounge has an updated “Small Bites” menu, including:

  • Seasonal Bisque for $12
  • Handcrafted Charcuterie for $22
  • House-made Potato Chips — with Chimichurri Ranch Dip (Plant-based option available upon request) for $6
  • Granny Smith Apple Pie à la Mode for $9

  • NEW: Shrimp and White Cheddar Grits — with Poached Egg, Chorizo, and Charred Tomato Stew for $16
  • NEW: Blackened Sustainable Fish Tacos — with Chilled Cucumber Slaw, Avocado, Chipotle Rémoulade, and Flour Tortillas for $17

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Boardwalk Ice Cream

There’s a new ice cream shop in town over on Disney’s Boardwalk where Ample Hills Creamery used to be. And although the online menu is a little limited, when we visited, we noticed quite a few selections available there.

Menu

Is it the BEST ice cream we’ve ever had?

Bayside Brownie

Probably not — but it’s nice to have another quick ice cream option over in that area.

Disney Springs

Splitsville Luxury Lanes

The Filet Sliders have returned to Splitsville! And we LOVED these things and were a little sad when they disappeared from the menu last year. They’re beef tenderloin topped with onion rings and horseradish cream

Filet Sliders

We highly recommend trying these out!

PHOTOS: Closer Look at New World Celebration Popcorn Kiosk in EPCOT

world-celebration-popcorn-stand-11

A few days ago, the new World Celebration popcorn kiosk arrived in EPCOT. While we only glimpsed it over construction walls before, we now caught a better look at the futuristic stand. The stand is light blue and gray-white, with several windows for ordering and pickup. The modular design resembles that of Taste Track and the Donut Box, seen blow. The new popcorn kiosk will be near Creations Shop in the World Celebration neighborhood, which is set to open this […]

When Will Disneyland Allow Out of State Guests?

“When will Disneyland and California Adventure reopen to out of state guests?” and “when will the parks allow non-California residents?” are common questions now that the parks are both open. This covers Orange County’s improving metrics, the state’s plan for summer, and more. Let’s start by recapping where things presently stand. Downtown Disney District reopened […]

Would You Pay $1,000 For A One-of-a-Kind Disney World Souvenir?

Disney World souvenirs aren’t exactly known for being cheap, but paying $1,000 for a lobster? That makes even a bejeweled pair of Minnie Ears look like a bargain buy!

Tweed & Pearl Minnie Ears

It might seem excessive, but this isn’t your typical lobster. For starters, this isn’t even a lobster you can eat!

We LOVE lobster at Disney! Whether it’s in nachos, a poutine, or even a VEGAN version, we’re always excited to see it — and eat it!

GIANT Plate of Nachos!

But this weekend in EPCOT, we found a DIFFERENT kind of lobster. One that we can’t eat. And one that costs almost as much as a Disney World Annual Pass.

$1,000 lobster

Seen in the Mexico Pavilion of World Showcase, the lavish lobster is actually an intricate wooden carving! And there’s clearly a LOT of hard work and diligent detail that goes into these guys!

Lobster carving

Made from Copal wood harvested from the hills of the Oaxacan valley, these things are the REAL deal, made by local artisans who use machetes and pocketknives to carve them into precise details and shapes.

Oaxacan wood carvings

After each lobster is shaped, it’s delicately painted with vibrant, eye-catching colors!

$1,000 lobster

The colors and patterns are truly unbelievable, and dare we say worth the $1,000 price tag?!

Take all our money

We may need a little liquid courage from La Cava del Tequila before making the plunge, but these artsy Oaxacan wooden lobsters are some of the most stunning souvenirs we’ve seen in Disney World lately, and we gotta respect the craft!

Pre-Order The NEW Disney Villains Cookbook Now!

Say what you will about Disney Villains, but they’ve got good taste in food.

Villains Valentine’s Day Magnet

That’s according to an upcoming Disney Villains COOKBOOK, where the recipes and photos look so good that we honestly feel kinda bad drooling over them… .

Listen, the fact that Scar kills his own brother and Maleficent curses an infant are not things we can endorse. What we CAN endorse is Scar’s apparent penchant for cooking farro. Who knew! It’s all part of a bewitching new book, Disney Villains: Devilishly Delicious Cookbook, inspired by Disney’s most iconic baddies!

©Amazon

Featuring beautiful full-color photos and more than 50 recipes from ALL kinds of classic Disney movie villains, there’s no doubt this will be one of the most unique cookbooks we’ve seen! While many of the recipes haven’t been revealed, one example we’re excited about is the “Lion’s Share Farro Salad,” inspired by Scar. Because apparently when Scar isn’t plotting a coup at Pride Rock, he’s roasting root vegetables.

PHOTOS: Monorail Construction is Coming Along at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Nowadays in Disney World, construction crews are as commonplace as Character Cavalcades!

A Look at the Tron Construction

With refurbishments and new developments taking place ALL over the parks and resorts, construction walls have become a frequent site. One prime example is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where not only are the rooms getting a major Moana makeover, but the Monorail station is getting a serious overhaul of its own!

Ever since the Monorail station at the Polynesian was demolished in January, we’ve been tracking its progress and providing updates.

Look at that progress!

Today, we swung by the resort for another look, and it’s still very much in progress!

Monorail construction

The Monorail is still not stopping at the resort, and it’s clear that LOTS more work is needed at the station, but progress is clearly happening!

Monorail construction

Inside the hotel, the platform is still fully blocked.

No entry

After a brief pause the other day, the Monorail still cruises through, but it’s not stopping for guests to get on or off.

Monorail passing through

There’s a lot of area surrounding the Monorail that is also blocked off and filled with construction equipment.

Monorail

Needless to say, it still looks quite a ways off from completion, but work is still moving along! We’ll continue to keep you posted on Monorail news at the Polynesian, and MORE Polynesian news as the hotel prepares to complete its room refurbs!

As One Ice Cream Shop Goes Up, Another Comes Down in Disney World

There is no shortage of construction projects going on around Walt Disney World as they prepare for the 50th-anniversary celebrations this year!

Magic Kingdom

This week was filled with more progress on some long-term projects that we’ve been keeping track of and we even got a surprise at the end of the week that answered our questions about some mystery construction we spotted back in March. So, let’s get to all the updates from this week!

Magic Kingdom

Main Street Train Station

The Walt Disney World railroad has been closed for quite some time now as construction progresses on the new TRON roller coaster coming to Tomorrowland. In the meantime, the Main Street Train Station has been hiding “undercover” in true Disney fashion, where they try to convince us that it’s still kind of there with the tarp design.

While we didn’t see progress…we could HEAR it!

And, this past week we didn’t necessarily see construction going on here, but we did HEAR it! When we passed by the station, we listened closely and could hear some work being done inside. So, there is still something underway!

Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak

Over in Storybook Circus, we’ve been keeping track of the ongoing refurbishment of the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak area. Last week we noticed that more areas had been taped off to paint on the giraffe car, and this week we got the grand reveal! The giraffe car now has a fresh coat of GOLD paint!

The work is done on the giraffe car!

And, now it’s the clown car’s turn — the bushes have moved over to surround the car so it looks like that’s the next paint project for Disney.

Work is underway on another link in the train!

EPCOT

Innoventions West

EPCOT has also been home to quite a few construction projects over the past year, and instead of spotting something going up, we spotted something completely gone. This week we noticed that Innovations West can no longer be seen towering over the construction walls near Spaceship Earth.

Innoventions West, are you back there?!

Italy Pavilion

And, another building is missing in EPCOT over in the Italy Pavilion. The former gelati stand that served up some frozen treats has been completely removed. The area is still surrounded by construction walls, but there was no indication that something new would be coming in the spot. They might just be fixing the pavement.

We reckon there’s only room for one gelati stand in this pavilion

But, rest assured, there is still a spot to grab gelati in the Italy Pavilion — in fact, it’s brand new! Gelateria Toscana opened just a few weeks ago on the other side of the pavilion, so it seems there’s only room for one gelati stand in the area and the newbie won out.

Click HERE For Our FULL REVIEW of the NEW Gelati Stand!

Disney Springs

Beatrix

When we were making our way around Disney Springs this week we noticed that some construction walls were looking different around the area that the restaurant Beatrix is planned to eventually be located. The walls used to have Beatrix advertisements on the panels, but those are now gone.

Beatrix signs are no more

Back in April, a representative from the company that owns Beatrix (Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants) confirmed that the project has not been canceled but instead has been delayed significantly. Until work can resume, Disney and Beatrix have agreed to return the area to “green space” and we recently saw a permit filed for building that won’t expire until 2023. So, it could be a while before we see much change in this space.

Disney Resorts

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we’re continuing to keep track of the construction on the monorail platform. The station was demolished back in January and is part of the larger refurbishment that Disney is doing at the hotel.

Look at that progress!

When we stopped by to check in on the progress, we could see that construction crews were outside working on one of the new structures.

BoardWalk Ice Cream

And, over at Disney’s BoardWalk, we got a surprise update in the form of a BRAND NEW ice cream shop! This spot used to be home to Ample Hills Creamery, but it closed last year with the parks when the COVID-19 pandemic began and did not reopen. We had spotted some mystery construction on the exterior a few months ago, and this week it was revealed as the new home of BoardWalk Ice Cream.

BoardWalk Ice Cream

The new location opened on May 20th and you can stop in to grab a sweet treat from 3PM-10PM on weekdays and 12PM-10PM on weekends. And, of course, we already stopped by to check out the menu and give it a try!

Check Out Our FULL REVIEW of BoardWalk Ice Cream!

Well, there ya have it — ALL the construction updates from this week in Disney World! We will continue to keep an eye out for more so check back with us next week for the latest!
