Theater of the Stars, the home of Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is currently under refurbishment. The show has been closed since the parks reopened last summer, and Disney Society Orchestra performed in the theater for about two months before entertainment cuts. After a permit was filed for the theater in February, it is now filled with scaffolding. Some of the queue for Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage is being […]

Everything That’s Included When You Stay at a Disney World Hotel

Planning on staying at a Disney World hotel?

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Once you’ve figured out your budget — and maybe even picked your hotel! — you’ll want to know what’s included in your stay. After all, you get quite a few perks on property! Now, some benefits such as an early FastPass+ booking window and Extra Magic Hours have been eliminated due to limited operations — but there is still plenty to enjoy!

Free Transportation to the Parks

One of the most obvious features of your Disney World hotel stay is the free transportation to the parks. Depending on your hotel, you could have access to the parks via bus, boat, Skyliner, or monorail — or a combination of a few of ’em!

Disney Skyliner flying high above Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

It’s complimentary, quick, ‘n’ easy. However, you will want to plan ahead for any delays that could arise. Disney suggests giving yourself an hour to take Disney transportation from one part of property to another (and we second that!).

Check Out Our Full Guide to Disney Transportation!

Free Parking

If you choose to drive, your Disney hotel stay will qualify you for free parking at the theme parks. Now, standard parking is $25 per day, so that can add up to some BIG savings! And if you want to upgrade to prime parking, you’ll be able to do that by paying the difference.

Magic Kingdom Parking

Do keep in mind, though, that you’ll have to pay for overnight parking at your hotel. That costs anywhere from $15 to $25 per night, depending on whether you’re staying at a Value, Moderate, or Deluxe resort. So this perk could cancel out with your parking costs — or it could help ya save just a bit!

Disney’s Magical Express

If you’re flying into the Orlando International Airport, you can use Disney’s Magical Express service to get complimentary transportation to your Disney hotel! It’s a convenient way to avoid a taxi, rideshare, or rental car if you’re just trying to get on Disney property.

Disney’s Magical Express

Now, Disney is discontinuing the Magical Express service in January 2022 — it’ll be replaced by a new, paid service by Mears (the same company that owns the Magical Express). So you will still have a similar option, but as of next year, it’ll no longer be free.

Read About Your Options After the Magical Express Service Ends!

Early Theme Park Entry

If you’re an early riser, you may want to take advantage of the Early Theme Park Entry perk for hotel guests. This “replacement” for Extra Magic Hours will be instated to celebrate Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and it’ll let hotel guests into the theme parks half an hour before opening every day.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

As of now, Early Theme Park Entry has been instated and we are still waiting on more details.

Discounted MagicBands

MagicBands used to be complimentary for Disney World hotel guests. They’re no longer free, but those hotel guests can now get some of ’em for $5 — which is significantly cheaper than the standard $19.99 price tag.

MagicBands

If you don’t want to pay the 5 bucks, though, you can opt for a complimentary Key to the World card or Disney’s new (free!) MagicMobile service. It’s up to you!

Complimentary Activities

Sure, there’s lots to do in the parks, but there are also oodles of activities at your hotel! And lots of ’em are free: we’re talking pools, Movies Under the Stars, recreational activities, fitness centers, crafts, lawn games, and more. (You can even watch an Electrical Water Pageant!).

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

On top of these freebies, there are other activities that you can pay a little extra for. You can go horseback riding or rent a boat at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, ride a Surrey bike at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, or rent a cabana at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. We’ve got a full list right here for ya — just keep in mind that some are temporarily unavailable due to limited operations.

Laundry Room

If you’ve got a long trip to Disney World planned, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a quick and easy way to do your laundry. Self-serve laundry facilities are available at each hotel! You can even use the LaundryView technology to keep track of your clothes while they’re getting cleaned.

Laundry at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Deluxe Villas also have an in-room washer and dryer (with a complimentary box of single-use laundry detergent!) to make laundry day EVEN easier. So if you want to pack light, rest assured that you can rewear some outfits.

In-Room Amenities

All Disney hotel rooms include complimentary Wi-Fi, a coffee machine, a mini-fridge, a safe, and toiletries (think lotion, bar soap, and shampoo). You can check out our tour of a standard room at Disney’s Pop Century Resort to get a lay of the land!

Beverage Station

If you’re trying to figure out what to pack for your vacation, this may help ya narrow down what you need to bring. Plus, the mini-fridge makes food storage WAY easier!

The Best Half Day Park in Disney World, According to YOU

Running short on time in Disney World?

Magic Kingdom

It’s really hard to do everything in Disney. And sometimes, a tight schedule means you only have half a day to spend in a park! Now, each of the 4 parks has its own must-dos — and you could make an argument for spending a full day (or more!) in any of ’em. But how do YOU decide which park should be YOUR half-day?

Well, we did what we usually do here at DFB: we polled our readers on Instagram! We asked them which park was the BEST for a half day and waited while the results rolled in. (Keep in mind that there’s no right or wrong answer — despite that green check next to EPCOT!).

Time to ask our readers!

So…what did we find? Well, our readers were overwhelmingly in favor of spending half a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In fact, 55% of you voted for this park.

Tree of Life

There aren’t too many attractions here, and wait times are usually low (with the exception of Flight of Passage!), so we totally get why this may be your pick. Unless you really want to dive deep into the animal exhibits or ride Expedition Everest on repeat, there’s not too much to do here after a couple of hours.

Expedition Everest

Our readers’ second choice? Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Before the addition of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, this was REALLY considered a half-day park. There just wasn’t a lot to do! And even with these new lands, that’s still the opinion of 23% of our readers.

Hollywood Studios

In third place was EPCOT, with 17% of the vote. Now, there aren’t a lot of rides here right now — especially because Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind haven’t opened yet — but there’s lots of other stuff to do. You can explore the World Showcase, eat (and drink!) your way through a Festival, or sit down in the AC for some shows. Half day or full day: it’s all up to how much YOU want to do!

EPCOT

We weren’t too surprised to see that our readers’ LAST choice for a half-day park was Magic Kingdom, with just 5% of the vote. Disney World’s flagship park has lots to see and do, from rides to shows to shops. Hey — we’d wanna spend a full day here, too!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

You could make any of these parks a full day — or you could make them a half day if you really whittled down your must-dos! It all depends on what YOU want to do on your vacation. Still, it’s fun to hear what other people are thinkin’, right? Let us know what your half-day park is — and keep checking our Instagram for more polls!

Disneyland’s Most In-Demand Attraction WON’T Be Open Today!

When visiting Disneyland or Disney World, it’s an inevitable — and harsh — reality that some rides, restaurants, and shops could be closed at random. There’s nothing quite like that feeling of showing up to the parks to find your favorite attraction closed. We’ve all been there.

Closed

So our thoughts go out to Disneyland attendees today, especially those who were excited to try and get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance…because we’ve got some sad news for you.

In both Disneyland and Disney World, Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is infamously difficult to get into. It requires meticulous planning, alarm clocks, and a wish upon a star!

We skipped the first pre-show and moved on to this room.

So when you think about it, the fact that Rise of the Resistance is unavailable for the entire day in Disneyland kinda alleviates some of that stress? Going for glass half full here… .

Rise of the Resistance

Of course, SO many people visit Disney nowadays with the priority of experiencing Galaxy’s Edge, and specifically Rise of the Resistance (hence why Disney’s Hollywood Studios can be a hassle to get into), so we can only imagine what a bummer this is.

Rise of the Resistance indoor queue

Messages popped up on mobile devices this morning in Disneyland, informing visitors that the attraction will not be able to board any recruits at all today. Oof!

Hopefully guests will be able to return tomorrow and try again, but in the meantime, have fun exploring the rest of Galaxy’s Edge and Disneyland! We’ll keep you posted when the ride is up and running again!
