Review: This is What Happens When Space Dust and ROCKS Meet Funnel Cake in Disney World!

We’ve said it before, and we’ll (happily!) say it again… May the 4th Be With You!!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Today is May the 4th (a.k.a. Star Wars Day), but we’ve already been celebrating for quite some time with spectacularly detailed treats, cool merch, and more. Today, even more Star Wars merch has been released and (most importantly) even more Star Wars TREATS are available for us to eat! We’re busy grabbing quite a few today, and now it’s time for our review of a treat that’s got it all — strawberries, space dust (!!), candy rocks, and FUNNEL CAKE!

From May 4th through May 5th, you’ll want to head over to Epic Eats in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to grab the returning Galactic Swirl Funnel Cake!!

We actually had this treat at Epic Eats back in 2019. Back then it was made with a “traditional funnel cake topped with strawberries, chocolate sauce, vanilla soft serve ice cream, and chocolate rocks!”

This year, though, the treat is described as a “Black and white funnel cake with strawberries, space dust, and candy rocks.”

THIS YEAR’S Galactic Swirl Funnel Cake!

Let’s zoom in so we can check out that black-and-white funnel cake action!

We learned that while the traditional funnel cake batter is cooking, a black batter is drizzled on top. So, it’s not chocolate — just a color enhancement to the regular batter.

Black and White Funnel Cake?!?

Last year, you could opt to go a la mode, but THIS YEAR delivers the the addition of “space dust,” so we’ll call it about even. 😉

Oh, wait… what exactly IS space dust, you ask? Well, we realized that it IS, in fact, more than your typical powdered sugar. In speaking to a chef, he shared that it’s made of a coarser sugar to hold up longer amidst all the toppings!

Space Rocks and Space DUST!

Those topping include LOTS of candy rocks delivering some chocolate-y taste to the treat. (Do know, though, that they melt as soon as you touch them or put them in your mouth.)

There are quite a few limited time Star Wars treats available right now. So, does this one rise above the competition? Is it a treat you MUST get?

YUM. The Force is with this Funnel Cake.

… PLUS the sheer size of the whole thing? We say YES! It comes together quite well for a tasty, sweet, and totally loaded snack. The Force is with the Galactic Swirl Funnel Cake, indeed, and you can get it yourself — straight from a galaxy far, far away — from May 4th through May 5th for $8.49.
