Disney World Changes Wait Time Descriptions in App

Things are constantly changing at Disney World. Sometimes those changes are big — like a change in mask policy.

Anyone Up for a Ride?

Other times, those changes are very small, but they could point to something bigger coming in the future. Today, we noticed a change that was made in the My Disney Experience app when it comes to wait times.

The screenshot below from My Disney Experience is from just a few weeks ago — around the end of April. In it, you can see the wait times listed for various rides in Magic Kingdom. Notice how the listing for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, for example, says “40 Minute Wait.” The others follow a similar format, the number and then the words “minute wait.”

But now, something has changed.

Below is a screenshot we took just a few moments ago on the My Disney Experience app. Note how now the wait times for the Tomorrowland Speedway, for example, now shows as “5 Minute Standby Wait.” The other attractions follow this same formatting, showing the number and then the words “Minute Standby Wait.”

For now, all we’re seeing is this small change — the addition of the word “standby” to the wait times descriptions on the app. But, could this tiny adjustment be pointing to bigger changes coming down the line? Perhaps the reintroduction of FastPass+ or something else that would introduce wait times for queues other than standby lines?

At this point, Disney hasn’t made any statement to that effect, but we’re on the lookout for more details.

FastPass+ remains suspended at this time and Disney hasn’t made any statements yet about the reintroduction of FastPass+. We’ve also seen a number of FastPass+ signs covered up in Disney World.

We’re definitely on the lookout for any updates on this situation and we’ll let you know what we find.
