As Disney World (and the rest of the country) continues to return to normalcy, it seems like safety mandates are constantly changing. From seating more guests on rides to bringing back character dining and adding more pool chairs, Disney is steadily lifting all kinds of restrictions.
This is especially apparent with its ever-changing face mask policies. After recently making a HUGE update that no longer required masks outdoors, similar change appears to be happening at outdoor theaters.
When Disney World first lifted its mask requirements for general outdoor spaces, it had hyper-specific language that initially made it clear that face coverings would STILL be required on all attractions, including theaters of any sort.
This meant you’d still have to wear a mask at, say, America Gardens Theatre in EPCOT or the Feathered Friends Flight show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, even though they’re both outdoors.
But here’s the plot twist! Disney JUST tweaked its verbiage regarding theaters, specifying that masks are still required on indoor theaters specifically.
While there is currently no exact mention of outdoor theaters and what those parameters are, it’s implied that apparently face masks no longer need to be worn at outdoor theaters.
So we put on our investigative hat to see for ourselves, stopping at Feathered Friends Flight show to check out the mask situation!
Just as expected, face masks are no longer required in outdoor theaters.
They’re still skipping rows, however, and have sections taped off for each party.
You need to wear a face mask as you enter, but you can take them off once seated.
Clearly, things continue to change in Disney World! As always, we’ll keep you updated with the latest Disney news, so stay tuned.
