Recently, Disney World made a BIG update to its mask policy.

Currently, masks are no longer required outdoors in Disney World (or on pool decks), but continue to be required in certain places like upon entering and throughout all attractions, on all Disney transportation (including transportation entrances), and in some other locations. Now, Disney has made a slight change to its mask policy when it comes to whether masks are required in its theaters.

For reference, here’s the language as it appeared on the Disney World website previously. Note that at the end, Disney’s policy used to state that face coverings are required “upon entering and throughout all attractions, theaters and transportation.”

Below is a look at the updated policy. It now notes that masks are required “upon entering and throughout all attractions, indoor theaters and transportation.”

A similar change has been made to the chart that outlines when masks are and are not required. Here’s a look at the updated chart which has that specific mention of masks being required in indoor theaters (as opposed to all theaters in general).

So it seems Disney World will only be requiring masks to be used in its indoor theaters, as opposed to all theaters generally.

It doesn’t look like any other part of Disney World’s mask policy has been changed at this time. Masks continue to be optional in all outdoor common areas, but are required upon entering and throughout all attractions, in all transportation (including transportation entrances), in all indoor locations (including restaurants, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary), and in all indoor theaters.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates to Disney World’s policies, particularly in light of the changes that will be made in Orange County, Florida soon.
