Father’s Day is just a few days away, and we’re checking out some of the seasonal treats around Disney World that celebrate all things dad!

We’ve already tried the Father and Son Cupcake, and now we’re heading to The Market at Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort to check out the Father’s Day Blondie!

The Father’s Day Blondie is a Peanut Butter Blondie with layers of Almond and Peanut Butter, Chocolate-Caramel Ganache, Chocolate-Caramel Crunch, Crisp Pearls, and a Peanut Butter Crunch. Now, say it with us: the garnish on top supposed to be a CIGAR. A CIGAR. 

Okay, we’re just gonna say it; we get it! It kinda looks like poop (haven’t we been here before?)! It makes us think back to the rather STUNNING Mother’s Day treats we saw, like the Mother’s Day Mimosa Miniature Gâteau and the Mother’s Day Butterfly Cupcake. Dad kinda got the short end of the stick when it comes to presentation. But that doesn’t mean it won’t taste stellar!

Once we got the giggles out of our system and moved past the odd look of this dish, we took a bite — and we loved it! The peanut butter flavor was the most prominent, both in smell and in taste! It had more of an almond after note once you get through the peanut butter.

Not only does this snack have a lovely flavor, the texture was also spot on! It comes with a nice crunch that totally won us over.

Despite its appearances, this is a great dessert to enjoy the holiday with the special guy in your life. You can pick up this treat and share a laugh with dad for $5.99 at The Market at Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, or Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club Resort!

All throughout Disney World things are changing!

Just today, Disney World’s new mask policy (where masks are now optional in most places for fully vaccinated guests) began, and Disney announced that fireworks will be coming back to Disney World very soon! But wait, there’s more! Now we’ve got details about when Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will reopen.

While the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas — Kidani Village (Disney Vacation Club Villas at the resort) have been open for a while, the standard hotel rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge have not been available throughout this initial phase of Disney World’s reopening.

But soon that’s going to change!

Disney has just announced that Animal Kingdom Lodge will reopen on August 26th! Reservations will actually become available starting tomorrow — June 16th.

We can only hope this means there will be news about Boma and Jiko…The Cooking Place in the future (though Disney has not made any statements regarding those restaurants yet). Keep in mind that both of those restaurants are currently closed.

Don’t forget that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge isn’t the only hotel in Disney World that will be reopening soon. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will also be reopening this summer.

Disney World has TONS of restaurants, but sometimes, we want to venture off-property for some eats!

We’ve been closely following the construction on Portillo’s, which opened TODAY near Disney World. This rock ‘n’ roll-themed diner encountered quite a few delays in its opening, and we sure are excited to finally be onsite for our fix of Chicago-style food.

You’ll find Portillo’s at the intersection of Palm Parkway and Daryl Carter Blvd, just minutes away from Disney property!

Inside, the diner is FULL of color…

…and complete with retro decor!

You’ll order your food at the register and then head to the pickup counter to collect it. Then, you can find a spot to sit!

One of our favorite touches are the bags the food comes in, which have a retro feel and are complete with the Portillo’s logo.

Of course, you know we ordered a TON of food to chow down on!

We snagged the Italian Beef Sandwich…

…the Maxwell Street Polish Hot Dog…

…a side of fries…

…a side of onion rings…

…Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake…

…the Chocolate Eclair Cake…

…and the Strawberry Shortcake!

The music made by the Disney marching bands is an iconic slice of the Disney Parks experience.

While Disney World has the Main Street Philharmonic in Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Resort has the Disneyland Band. The Disneyland Band has not performed since the Disneyland closure in March 2020, but we have some news!

We just learned today that the Disneyland Band is set to make a glorious return this Friday! Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resort, shared on Instagram a photo of the Disneyland Band rehearsing around midnight last night in preparation for their return this Friday, June 18th!

We are so excited for the return of the Disneyland Band and all the music they bring to Main Street. With more of our favorite events and entertainment returning to the Disney Parks, stick with DFB to keep you updated on all the breaking Disney news!

Disneyland Resort guests now officially have another Disney hotel option available!

When Disneyland’s theme parks reopened back on April 30th, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel had also started welcoming back guests one day prior. And now, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel has also reopened!

As of June 15th, Paradise Pier Hotel has now reopened with limited capacity. And, Disneyland has brought out the fanfare with colorful balloons to welcome guests (including out-of-state guests) back to the hotel.

When you step inside, you’ll be greeted by Goofy…

…and, you’ll notice a few additional health and safety measures like plexiglass barriers at the check-in area…

…and new health and safety signage. As a reminder, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear face masks when indoors or outdoors (except when on Disney transportation), and we spotted some new signage to reflect this change. Just keep in mind that those who are not fully vaccinated will still need to wear a mask when inside the hotel.

There are some other changes in place at the hotel, including one major detail — Paradise Pier does NOT currently have any food and beverage options available. Instead, guests are encouraged to order food from Downtown Disney restaurants that are offering delivery or stop by Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel which has many reopened options.

So, for now, you’ll find that restaurants like Disney’s PCH Grill…

…and The Sandbar (near the outdoor pool) are closed.

But, new signs near the pool encourage guests to Mobile Order their snack from Downtown Disney, which it can easily be done directly from your phone.

Speaking of the pool, it has also reopened! So now you can take a ride down the California Streamin’ slide…

…or relax by the larger pool nearby.

Back inside, Surfside Lounge is not serving up any food, but it has reopened as an area for guests to hang out and enjoy any bites that they might order from Downtown Disney or the Grand Californian.

And, more open seating is available outside as well!

Even though this hotel may be missing the food (one of our favorite parts), it sure is great to see more hotels reopening in Disneyland! We’ll continue to report back on the changes and updates around Disneyland Resort, so stay tuned for all of the latest info!
