This morning during our stroll in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom, we noticed that the scrim overlay covering the exterior of Peter Pan’s Flight has been partially removed, leaving half of the attraction’s building still covered. Let’s take a look. We first reported this project beginning back in March. To the far left you can see where the beginning of the other section of scrim still remains. We’re OFFICIALLY Getting a Gaston and LeFou Series on Disney+

Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney’s most iconic movies.

Beauty and the Beast Topiary

From the movie, we’ve got an immersive restaurant, a themed bar and lounge, beautiful dresses, and even a live-action remake! This year is the original film’s 30th anniversary, and we have some exciting news for all the Beauty and the Beast fans out there! We knew a series featuring Gaston and LeFou was in the works, but now we know, it’s officially a GO! Check out what we know about the series so far.

Disney+ announced today that they have officially greenlighted the project, which will be a limited MUSICAL series! That’s right folks, more amazing Disney music!

©Disney

The series will be an eight-episode prequel to the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast. We’ll see Luke Evans reprise his role of Gaston…

©Disney

…and Josh Gad back as LeFou! Gad is also a developer, executive-producer, and writer on the series, along with Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (who made Once Upon a Time!).

©Disney

We’ll also meet newcomer Briana Middleton as Tilly, LeFou’s stepsister!

©Disney

The series will have an original soundtrack from EGOT Award-winner and legendary composer, Alan Menken, who is also an executive producer on the project. You may know him from Aladdin, the original Beauty and the Beast, or Hercules!

©Disney

Disney says the trio of characters will go on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure! The series should also give us some answers on how Gaston and LeFou became friends, and how the curse was cast on the prince, turning him into a beast!

©Disney

Production isn’t starting on the series until Spring of 2022, but we’re SO EXCITED to see more of the Beauty and the Beast universe! Maybe we’ll finally see Gaston eat 5 dozen eggs, wouldn’t that be a sight! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney+ updates!
