4 NEW Ways to Get Kicked Out of Disney World

If you’ve planned a magical vacation that you’ve been waiting months for, the last thing you want to do is get kicked out of the parks!

You paid for the vacation, so don’t end it early!

There are a lot of ways to break the rules in Disney World and Cast Members have seen a wide variety of “creative” ways that guests try to push the limits. But recently, there have been some new policies and procedures put in place at Disney World — meaning that there are 5 NEW ways you could get kicked out of the parks!

Refusing to Wear Your Face Covering Where Required

As part of the health and safety policies for Walt Disney World’s reopening, guests ages 2 and up are required to wear a face-covering while indoors, in queues for rides, and at attractions. Guests are only allowed to remove their face covering when eating or drinking while stationary, while outdoors, while taking a photograph while stationary, or at a restaurant.

Keep that mask on!

When you book your Disney Park Pass reservation to visit, you sign a waiver stating that you agree to follow these terms. Therefore, if you refuse to wear your mask properly in the parks, then you run the risk of being asked to leave. Usually, Cast Members will issue warnings to guests if it’s a one-time thing, but if you continue to disobey, you might be kicked out.

Presenting A Fake Boarding Pass

One of Disney World’s newest and most popular rides is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Ever since its opening in December of 2019, the ride has been operating on a boarding pass system. Guests are required to secure a boarding group in the My Disney Experience app in order to ride and even over a year later, it’s still REALLY tough to ensure you get one on any given day day. Some guests have been trying to skirt those rules with some predictable results.

You won’t be fooling Disney!

Many websites, ours included, have shared screenshots of boarding passes over time. Some guests have been showing screenshots from the internet and trying to pass them off as their own. Don’t be quick to think you can show a screenshot to a Cast Member at the ride and magically be whisked into the queue.

Sorry guys, don’t even try it!

Sorry guys but, as you might suspect…that it doesn’t work. When you go to board the attraction, Cast Members will scan your ticket or MagicBand and they’ll be able to tell if you ever had a boarding pass to begin with. Not only that but Cast Members can look you up on their end if need be and see if you actually got that boarding pass in the first place. You might think you’re slick, but Disney is slicker. Don’t try these shenanigans or you risk getting thrown out!

Using Others’ MagicBands/Tickets

This one is kinda in the same vein as the boarding group one. You may think that just because Disney World isn’t requiring guests to do the finger scan at the park entrances right now that it would be easy to use someone else’s ticket…but that’s simply not true! Even though there aren’t any finger scans, Disney is still monitoring who is using what ticket.

Just use your own ticket!

If you try to use another guest’s ticket or MagicBand, you will likely be denied entry and face consequences from security. Don’t think you can outsmart Mickey Mouse! He has eyes everywhere. 😉 This isn’t one you want to find out the hard way (as you’re escorted off property). At this time, Disney is testing possible replacements for the biometric finger scan, including the option of facial recognition. We’re excited to see what tech they come up with next!

Here’s More Info on the Facial Recognition Technology!

Directing Profanity at Cast Members

This one is currently a bigger deal at the Disneyland Resort but it’s possible that we could see it come to Walt Disney World in the future (plus it’s just…you know…a bad thing to do!). Language was recently added to the Disneyland Resort website to note that guests who use vulgar and derogatory words and phrases toward Cast Members may be kicked out of the park.

Could we see this new policy at Disney World as well?

Your mom’s old “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” applies at Disney parks too. While this isn’t the official case in Disney World, many guests have been removed from the parks over the years for causing a scene. Screaming at Cast Members or other guests is generally a bad idea, plus it’s not a very nice thing to do. We’ve said it a thousand times but Cast Members are the REAL magic makers in Disney parks so don’t take out your frustrations on them. They’re just doing their job. You don’t want to be that guest!

MAJOR Price Increases at a Fan-Favorite Ice Cream Shop in EPCOT

Disney World has seen quite a few price increases lately.

France Pavilion

Recently, the costs of the lightsaber experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, MagicBands, and even a meal at Chefs de France have gone up. And now, another restaurant in EPCOT’s France Pavilion is seeing its prices change.

If you’re visiting L’Artisan des Glaces anytime soon, heads up! Their entire menu just got a pretty hefty price increase. For example, your single scoop of ice cream or sorbet (which you can get in a waffle cone or cup) is now $5.75 instead of $4.69.

Single Scoop

But the changes don’t stop there! A double scoop increased from $7.04 to $7.95, while our beloved Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches are now a whopping $7 instead of $4.69.

Meanwhile, the Croque Glacé (that’s a delicious brioche ice cream sandwich) will cost ya $9.50 now instead of $7.04. And the Cafe Glacé (an ice cappuccino with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream) is $8.50 instead of $7.04.

Lastly, the Coupe du Dimanche (essentially an ice cream sundae) has gone up in price from $8.45 to $9.95, and the Ice Cream Martini is now $13.95 instead of $11.97.

Phew! Those are some pretty big changes — the price of that Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich went up over $2! Just keep in mind that your bill will be a little higher next time you visit this fan-favorite location. And as always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news!

How Disney Helps Us Heal: Part 2

“How Disney Helps Us Heal” has truly taken on a new meaning since my last article in February of 2020. I wrote that article just weeks before, as Pete would say, “the world exploded.” As the initial few months of the pandemic passed, it became clearer that our November trip would need to be cancelled. The blow it took to accept this was not an easy one and only got worse later in the year when we had to cancel our plans for our first ever Disney cruise, too!

When I first wrote “How Disney Helps Us Heal,” I was speaking from my own personal experience of loss and a new cancer diagnosis. COVID has globalized many of the feelings I described and made them relatable to almost everyone. The world needs Disney. It craves nostalgia, joy, and escape now more than ever.

We all could really use a boost of that Disney feeling. Being transported far away from our daily burdens and brought to a place where we can remember what it feels like to be flooded with excitement and just have fun!

Some people may ask how Disney can really help people cope with these difficult times, especially when some trips are just not possible right now. From my experience, getting through some of the most difficult times can be made easier by just having something special to look forward to. For my husband and I, combating the disappointment of a cancelled trip really only had one solution. We decided to plan a newer, longer and BETTER Disney trip to look forward to! We found (and continue to find) solace by editing our trip over time. We have extended our trip, upgraded our hotel room, and have given ourselves permission to splurge on experiences that we had not initially planned on participating in. If the logistics of those changes sound burdensome, consider using a travel agent to facilitate the process!

For those of you who had to cancel or delay your next trip, maybe there are small ways to improve it to make it THAT much more exciting to look forward to! That might mean pushing the date back further to save, but even small adjustments can help build the excitement for a trip. Consider adding a signature dining experience to your agenda or schedule an evening flight to squeeze in some extra Disney magic at Disney Springs. The beauty of Disney is that there are SO many ways to add to your trip. Read, watch and explore all the ways that you can customize your trip to cater to your family. I promise it will be make the days go by just a little easier.

The truth is that anyone who gets to plan a trip to Walt Disney World is very lucky. To be able to get there and experience even a small piece of it is a privilege that I will never take for granted. The next time you are in a Disney park, remember to savor it. Think about all of those times you were home on your couch wishing you were there. Hold onto that Disney feeling for as long as you can because you never know what it will help you get through next.

What is getting me through my days now is just imagining the day I am on Main Street USA, looking up at the castle thinking, “I finally made it.” What is helping you get through yours?
