Hello from a beautifully bright and clear day here at Walt Disney World! We were up early to start our day out at the Magic Kingdom to see what new things we could find there. Let’s get started! On our way through the Transportation and Ticket Center, we noticed that the sign on the Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea kiosk, which was previously three colors to match the old TTC color scheme, had been repainted a solid blue, in keeping with […]

Brightline Seeing Pushback from Central Florida Expressway Authority, Businesses, and Residents Regarding Orlando Route

Brightline is facing pushback from the Central Florida Expressway Authority, local businesses, and residents regarding its proposal over the right-of-way for a future Orlando-Tampa route. The right-of-way designates the land for transportation services, and Brightline must secure a right-of-way by July 31. Brightline is currently constructing a rail between Miami and Orlando, having recently reached the halfway point. The line would then run from the Orlando International Airport to Tampa, with a Disney Springs station on the way. There are […]

Review: THREE New Drinks Arrive at La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT!

We’ve been sipping our way around Walt Disney World today (well, this week really)!

La Cava del Tequila

We tried a new secret menu item over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort yesterday, and today we got adventurous and went for something a bit spicier at Disney’s Riviera Resort. And, of course, we also had to return to one of our favorite spots to grab a sip when visiting EPCOT — La Cava del Tequila. And, let us tell ya, their drinks don’t disappoint!

On our visit today, we found not one, not two, but THREE new drinks! So, being the sensible Disney drink tasters that we are…we got them all. 😉

First up was a new drink that made its way onto the menu this past month — the Spicy Mentirosa. This is a non-alcoholic option that is made with Lyre’s Italian Orange, Non-alcoholic Lyre’s Dry London, lime juice, cucumber and jalapeno juice, agave nectar, and a hibiscus salt rim for $13. And, it sure does have a kick! We found it to be spicier than the El Diablo with a light citrus taste, making it a great pick for all-you spicy drink fans (like us!). The only thing we might change in the future is ordering a Mezcal shot to pour on top!

Spicy Mentirosa

When we were ordering our drink, the Cast Member also told us about a newer secret menu item that has arrived just in time for the summer called the Virgin Colada. This non-alcohol drink is an island oasis mix blended with ice and costs $10.64.

If you’re looking for a sweet refreshing drink, then this is it! We tasted a lot more pineapple than we did coconut from the mixture but we think this could still be a great option for kids or those who don’t drink alcohol and want a fun cocktail to help cool off on a warm summer day.

Virgin Colada

And, just when we thought “hmm…this Virgin Colada could really use a shot of liquor,” we found out that there is an alcoholic version of the Pina Colada on the secret menu! It is made with the same island oasis mix but is blended with a mixture of rum and pox (which is a Mexican liquor). Of course, the booze bumps the price of the drink up a little to $15.45.

We picked up the same pineapple notes from the mixture, but the alcohol really cut through the sweetness of the drink. And, though we did enjoy this drink, we probably would opt for a signature margarita from La Cava del Tequila over the Pina Colada on any other day.

Pina Colada

All in all, it was nice to find some new non-alcoholic drink options at this spot, and who doesn’t love a secret menu item, right? While kiddos probably won’t enjoy the Spicy Mentirosa, the Virgin Colada offers a fun alternative to the traditional drinks you can find at the restaurant. Plus, both the non-alcoholic and alcoholic options are delicious. Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for new eats and drinks around Disney World, so stay tuned for more!

Disney World Changes Wait Time Descriptions in App

Things are constantly changing at Disney World. Sometimes those changes are big — like a change in mask policy.

Anyone Up for a Ride?

Other times, those changes are very small, but they could point to something bigger coming in the future. Today, we noticed a change that was made in the My Disney Experience app when it comes to wait times.

The screenshot below from My Disney Experience is from just a few weeks ago — around the end of April. In it, you can see the wait times listed for various rides in Magic Kingdom. Notice how the listing for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, for example, says “40 Minute Wait.” The others follow a similar format, the number and then the words “minute wait.”

But now, something has changed.

©Disney

Below is a screenshot we took just a few moments ago on the My Disney Experience app. Note how now the wait times for the Tomorrowland Speedway, for example, now shows as “5 Minute Standby Wait.” The other attractions follow this same formatting, showing the number and then the words “Minute Standby Wait.”

©Disney

For now, all we’re seeing is this small change — the addition of the word “standby” to the wait times descriptions on the app. But, could this tiny adjustment be pointing to bigger changes coming down the line? Perhaps the reintroduction of FastPass+ or something else that would introduce wait times for queues other than standby lines?

©Disney

At this point, Disney hasn’t made any statement to that effect, but we’re on the lookout for more details.

Jungle Cruise FastPass Entrance

FastPass+ remains suspended at this time and Disney hasn’t made any statements yet about the reintroduction of FastPass+. We’ve also seen a number of FastPass+ signs covered up in Disney World.

We’re definitely on the lookout for any updates on this situation and we’ll let you know what we find.

Click here to see why FastPass+ might not come back to Disney World as soon you think.

PHOTOS: We Got Stuck on an EPCOT Ride…In a Really Weird Place

Listen, here at DFB, we feel like we’ve seen it all.

We’ve seen our fair share of ride evacuations!

Animatronics losing body parts in the middle of their shows? Seen it! Countless ride evacuations? Seen it! Parts of rides getting “inconspicuously” replaced with houseplants? Believe it or not, we’ve seen it. So today was just another routine day when we got stuck on a Disney World ride. However, this particular malfunction isn’t one we’ve come across before!

We were in the middle of our “Power Test” on Test Track when our vehicle ran into a bit of a problem. We know what the speedometer sign says Disney, but this sure doesn’t feel like we’re going 60 miles per hour. We literally were stopped on the Test Track curve.

We’re kinda glad that the whole design-your-own-car thing is still unavailable because if it were, our results would be: Capability — good, Efficiency — good, Responsiveness — good, Power — downright abysmal. Not the best score we’ve ever received. 😂

Doesn’t look like we’re going to score very well.

But, on the bright side, we can enjoy the lovely view while we’re hanging out up here…isn’t that parking lot just magnificent?!

Wow! So Beautiful!

And even though the ride has stopped, we can still imagine that we’re moving considering the fact that we’re all leaning very hard to the left. Who needs ab day at the gym when gravity and Test Track can do the work for you?

Feel the burn from trying to sit up straight!

Usually, we have to lay out by the pool during our trip to get that post-vacation glow, but we think we’ll be nice and tan by the time that we’re done here. Even that Florida sun is pitching in and helping out!

We’re gonna be nice and tan once this is over.

But in all seriousness, getting stuck on a Disney World ride can be really fun, as long as you keep a positive attitude. It’s definitely an experience we won’t forget! A few minutes after the stop, we slowly resumed and finished the rie.

It’s definitely a unique experience!

Stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates from the Disney World parks. We’ve got you covered on all the latest!
