What’s New at Magic Kingdom: A Classic Ride Is CLOSED and a Play Area Reopens

Welcome back to Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom

We’re taking a trip around the park to see what’s new in construction, merchandise, and more. Let’s get started!

Magic Kingdom Construction Updates

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed this week for a quick refurbishment!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Is CLOSED!

We noticed signs indicating that the ride was not operating as we approached the area.

You won’t get to ride today!

But the Cast Members made the closure LOTS of fun! There was a box made of tape on the ground, and if guests stepped inside the Cast Members clapped and cheered.

Cast Member Fun

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is expected to reopen on June 13th.

Read More About Big Thunder Mountain Railroad’s Closure!

Magic Kingdom Merchandise Updates

Popcorn Carts

The popcorn carts around the park are now advertising the Dumbo Refillable Popcorn Bucket!

Dumbo Popcorn Bucket

The bucket will cost ya $17, and any refills after are $2 each.

Emporium

It’s a good day to be a Stitch fan! In the Emporium, we spotted a Stitch journal for $19.99

Stitch Journal

…and a Stitch MagicKeeper!

Stitch MagicKeeper

These little guys have the same technology as your MagicBand, but you can attach them to your bag and pull at ’em using a retractable string. They’re $29.99.

Read More About MagicKeepers!

We also found a Wishables blind bag of pins for $29.99. You could score Mickey, Cogsworth, Conductor Goofy, a teacup, and so much more!

Lastly, we wanted to remind you about the buy 1, get 1 free mask sale goin’ on throughout the parks.

The mask sale is here, too!

You can save big on select styles!

Magic Kingdom Additional Updates

Over in Storybook Circus, the play area in the queue for Dumbo the Flying Elephant has reopened.

The Dumbo Play Area has reopened!

Guests can head on in to play before riding. If the line is long, they’ll be given a pager that will indicate when it’s their turn to hop aboard. You can also go inside to play and then leave without riding!

Let chaos ensue!

This is the first play area to reopen in Disney World — we’ll keep an eye out for any more.

Learn More About This Play Area’s Reopening!

Meanwhile, in Adventureland, the Bazaar was open to guests

The Bazaar Is Open Again!

…and towards the front of the park, tables were set up INSIDE Casey’s Corner! This spot has remained closed since the park’s reopening, and we’re itching for it to welcome guests again.

We see TABLES!

We saw social distancing being further reduced in several areas around the park. At Galactic Gateway in Tomorrowland, there were no longer dots for families to stand on while they greeted Stitch or Buzz Lightyear.

No more markers here…

And nearby, social distancing dots were gone from the entrance to the Carousel of Progress.

…or here!

If you’re stepping in for a show, you’ll also want to note that rows are no longer blocked off inside the theater.

Guests can sit in any row now.

In Liberty Square, social distancing markers for guests boarding the Liberty Belle Riverboat had been reduced to 3 feet.

Liberty Belle Riverboat Markers

And lastly, the entrance and exit to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe have returned to normal. You’ll still need to place a Mobile Order to get inside, but you don’t have to go in through the out door anymore!

No more weird entrance/exit situation here!

And that wraps up our trip to Magic Kingdom! We’ll be in the parks every day as we continue to bring you the latest news from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB.

VIDEO: Another Sneak Peek at Disney and Pixar’s ‘Luca’

With the upcoming release of Disney and Pixar’s newest movie Luca just around the corner, we’ve been getting all sorts of teases and glimpses into the upcoming film!

An Image from Disney-Pixar’s Luca ©Disney-Pixar

The story follows Luca, his friend Alberto, and their adventures in the small town of Portorosso! Recently, we got yet another look into the new film!

Disney+ shared an official clip from the movie!

Luca and Alberto, who are secretly sea monsters, are invited to the house of their new friend Giulia! However, there’s just one problem: Giulia’s father, a fisherman, not only believes in sea monsters, he wants to hunt them down. As Luca and Alberto attempt to cover up their secret identities, we get a taste of the funny chaos that’s in store!

Luca will be released June 18th on Disney+ for free alongside a limited run at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles. If it’s anything like the Pixar movies of the past, Luca should be full of fun, heart, and good laughs for the whole family!

PHOTOS: A Cat Carrier Was Turned into the GREATEST Star Wars DIY in Disney World

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Guys, we just found THE coolest thing in Disney World.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Guests can get prettyyy creative inside the parks. We’ve seen Star Wars-inspired strollers, fun outfits, and so much more. But we’ve GOT to show you the nifty DIY project we spotted in Disney’s Hollywood Studios today.

We were hangin’ out in Galaxy’s Edge when we spotted a family rocking matching Droid backpacks!

How COOL are these?!

But you know what’s incredible about these? They’re homemade! The mom, Candace, told us they saw the idea on Pinterest and fashioned these neat backpacks out of cat carriers. Yes, friends. CAT carriers.

Check it out!

Candace bought the backpack and light strips on Amazon, then used her Cricut machine to make the stickers! And check out how AWESOME the finished product looks. This family should win an award for their creativity, right?!

These look AMAZING!

If you want to make one of these yourself, you can snag the cat carrier on Amazon right here.

Click Here to Buy the Cat Carrier!

And don’t forget to grab those lights!

The Droid backpacks you can buy in Disney World cost $50, so these are a cheaper alternative. They’re also a fun DIY project…and we’re not gonna lie, they look better than the backpacks you can buy in the park. Just sayin’.

Droid Depot Backpacks

We hope this family made your day as much as they did ours! Stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep bringing you all the fun things we spot in Disney World.

Tropical Hideaway at Disneyland Reinstates Mobile Ordering with Limited Menu

There have been some updates to The Tropical Hideaway menu as of late. After suspending mobile ordering briefly, the purveyor of the delectable DOLE Whip treats is back on the app, but with a limited menu. Previously the restaurant served other, more savory snacks such as bao and lumpia, But now it appears you can only service your sweet tooth here. Granted, the varying takes on DOLE Whip are generally enough to keep us satisfied. However hopefully more menu items […]
