What Changes Are Coming to the Trader Sam’s Menu in Disneyland? Here’s What We’re Seeing

Disneyland’s theme parks reopened in late April, but ever since then more spots around the resort have reopened.

Trader Sam’s

On July 2nd, Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar will be reopening at Disneyland Hotel. But, has your favorite drink or snack been taken off the menu? We’re seeing some changes made to this spot’s online menu and today we’re breaking it all down for you!

Food

First, let’s tackle food changes. For reference, here’s a peek at some of the items that were previously on the menu. This photo of the menu is from October of 2019, but we also took a look at the menu over at AllEars.net, which shows it was last updated in May of 2020, for further reference.

While many of the same items are still on the menu, a few have been removed. Specifically, we’re no longer seeing the Pork Gyoza or the Pu Pu Platter listed on Trader Sam’s official Disney menu online.

Additionally, the AllEars.net menu lists chicken or tofu lettuce cups and pan-fried dumplings as potential appetizer options. Neither of those are currently listed on the menu.

Pork Gyoza

Additionally, quite a few items on the menu have increased in price. Here’s a break-down:

  • Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings — now priced at $17 (were $13)
  • Angust 1/2 lb Hawaiian Cheeseburger — now priced at $18 (was $16)
  • Poke Bowl — now priced at $17 (was $15)
  • Hawaiian Platter — now priced at $17 (was $15)

Trader Sam’s Tonkotsu Ramen

  • Tonkatsu Ramen — now priced at $17 (was $15)
  • Tempura Shrimp — now priced at $20 (was $19)
  • Little Gem Salad with Grilled Salmon — now priced at $20 (was $19)
  • Rongo Salad — now priced at $13 (was $12)

Drinks

Next, we’ll tackle the drinks, specifically the specialty cocktails. Here, we’ve noticed 1 change and a few items that have been removed:

  • The drink that was called “Shrunken Zombie Head” now appears to simply be called “Zombie”
  • The Rosita Margarita is no longer on the menu
  • The Ka-Blue-Ie drink is no longer on the menu

Line at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

  • The Passionate Python drink is no longer on the menu
  • The Lost Safari drink is no longer on the menu

And that’s a basic look at the menu changes we’ve noticed. Of course, the menu is subject to change again. If you’ll be visiting Trader Sam’s when it reopens, be sure to check what’s available during your visit!

We’ll keep an eye out for more news of menu changes and let you know what we find.

PHOTO: See a Birds-Eye View of the Moana Journey of Water Construction in EPCOT

During your last Disney World trip, you might have seen a lot of construction walls in EPCOT’s Future World!

EPCOT Entrance Behind Construction Walls

This big section that’s been blocked off seems to be the site for Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana. This will be interactive exploration trail that features lush plant life and playful water features! Now, we can look behind the walls and show you what’s going on inside!

Journey of Water has not received an opening date. 2021 was briefly mentioned in a description on shopDisney, but that information was quickly removed. with no replacement announced. Now, we’re getting a look behind the walls at the ongoing construction for the first time thanks to @bioreconstruct on Twitter.

In this photo, you can see the whole site that is expected to be the Moana-themed trails! The left arrow is pointing at an excavation site, and the right arrow shows a recently-constructed above-ground concrete block.

@bioreconstruct

So what is this newly added concrete block, you may ask? Your guess is as good as ours! Disney has been pretty tight-lipped about the exact details of the upcoming attraction.

A close-up of the concrete block @bioreconstruct

It could be the beginnings of the structure seen below or for others like it.

Journey of Water Concept Art

Here is what can be seen when walking in the area at EPCOT.

What’s going on back there?

And just in case you’re wondering, here is another look at what we can anticipate it looking like once complete.

Journey of Water Concept Art as seen in The EPCOT Experience

We can’t wait to see and learn more about this project.

We will do our best to keep you posted on construction as it continues to progress.

Trader Sam’s “Shrunken Zombie Head” Drink Renamed as Cultural Sensitivity Changes Continue at Disneyland Resort

The popular “Shrunken Zombie Head” beverage at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel has had a name change. Prior to the bar’s reopening on July 2, the drink is now simply called “Zombie”. The menu on Disneyland’s website shows the new name. This change is likely in line with the series of cultural sensitivity changes coming to the Jungle Cruise. “Shrunken head” props have been removed from the ride at Walt Disney World, and we expect to […]
