Menu Updates Spotted at Casey’s Corner, Eight Spoon Cafe, and More Restaurants in Disney World

It’s been a busy week at Disney World!

Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich because why not?

We’re seeing signs that things are returning to normal at Disney World, including the reopenings and potential reopenings of some of our favorite restaurants and snack spots! And we’ve got new menus for a few locations, too, as well as a brand new margarita! So let’s get on with the updates!

Magic Kingdom

Casey’s Corner

We’re starting to see signs that our favorite hot dog joint, Casey’s Corner, could soon reopen. First, we spotted tables in the restaurant, then we spotted chairs (and the removal of black drapes over entrances).

NO drapes!

And a NEW menu was posted, too! But don’t fret — because the Corn Dug Nuggets are coming back here!

Corn Dog Nuggets

But there were some changes to the menu:

Bacon Mac and Cheese Fries at Casey’s Corner

  • Main Entree Items are now served with choice of fries or a Cuties Mandarin (used to be Apple Slices)
  • All-Beef Hot Dog has decreased from $9.99 to $9.49
  • NEW: 3-Pack of Cuties Mandarins (3 pack) for $4.19
  • Assorted Fountain Beverages only come in one size now and are priced at $4.49
  • NEW: Freshly Brewed Joffrey’s Coffee is now the regular coffee

Golden Oak Outpost

After reopening, Golden Oak Outpost was closed and its space was used as a relaxation station. But now that the relaxation stations are gone, it looks like it might potentially reopen soon, with an updated menu. Disney World hasn’t added any hours for this location yet, but here are the menu changes:

  • Chicken Breast Nuggets replaced with Chicken Strips
  • Chili Cheese Waffle Fries are now just Chili Cheese Fries
  • REMOVED: Loaded Onion Rings, Loaded Waffle Fries and Chili Cheese Onion Rings
  • Minute Maid Premium Lemonade and Sweet Tea Slushy increased from $5.49 to $5.99

Loaded Onion Rings at Golden Oak Outpost

We’ll let you know if Disney World adds hours for this restaurant anytime soon!

Here’s A Previous Review We Did of Golden Oak Outpost

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Eight Spoon Cafe

We noticed that hours were posted for THIS WEEKEND for Eight Spoon Cafe, which means we might soon be munching on that wonderful Baked Macaroni and Cheese from there soon! That DOES remain on the new menu, too, including the Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Pulled Pork.

Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese

There’s something new on the menu, too — a Pulled Pork – Jelly Donut Sandwich. We’ve had this before back in 2019 with Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler at The Smiling Crocodile. It’s a Pulled Pork-stuffed Jelly Donut with Slaw for $6.99.

Read More About the Potential Reopening of Eight Spoon Cafe

So those are the restaurant menu updates for this week, but we’re keeping an eye on EVERY restaurant at Disney World, so stay tuned for more!

Don’t Miss Out On These 6 Things in Disney World!

No matter how many times you’ve been to Disney World, there’s a good chance you haven’t done everything.

Cinderella Castle

Between restaurants, rides, snacks, and your hotel, there’s LOTS to do on property. And it may feel like you just don’t have enough time to cross everything off your list! And while we’re constantly bringing you OUR must-do’s, we wanted to hear from our readers — so we asked ’em! And here’s what THEY said you shouldn’t miss in Disney World.

EPCOT’s World Showcase

Sure, the World Showcase may get LOTS of love during Festivals, but there’s plenty to do year-round! Check out the U.K. Pavilion’s red phone booths, Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan Pavilion, and other hidden gems around the world. And don’t forget to keep an eye out for some World Showcase secrets! There’s an enormous level of detail to take in at each Pavilion that makes just walking around tons of fun.

Morocco Pavilion

Of course, here at DFB, we’re all about the FOOD — and World Showcase has some amazing snacks. Some of our favorites are the School Bread in the Norway Pavilion, the Caramel Corn in the Germany Pavilion, and the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches in the France Pavilion.

Caramel Corn

Pick a few of your favorites and give ’em a try — you won’t regret it.

Check Out MORE World Showcase Snacks!

Classic Magic Kingdom Snacks

You may be surprised how many of our readers shared that they missed out on some classic Magic Kingdom snacks. But sure enough, tons of people told us that they regretted skipping the Spring Rolls, Cheshire Cat Tail, Fresh Fruit and Nutella Waffle Sandwich, or Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll.

Cheshire Cat Tail

Of course, the snack that was mentioned more than any other was DOLE WHIP. While many of our readers haven’t tried this classic frosty eat at all (one reader says she’s been to Disney World 6 times and has never gotten a Dole Whip), a lot of ’em told us that they regretted skipping the classic Pineapple Soft-Serve in particular. After all, there are about a bajillion available flavor combos…but sometimes you can’t go wrong with the OG.

Dole Whip

If you’re looking for somewhere to grab that iconic treat, we recommend Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom! Or, if you’re outside of the parks, swing by Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Check Out More Classic Disney Snacks!

Pandora

Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s newest land is Pandora — and it’s all about Avatar! But while this area is WILDLY popular, a lot of our readers have passed right by it (and regretted it).

Pandora

The lines are often long here, discouraging guests. One reader told us they skipped Flight of Passage because “we couldn’t get a FastPass and the lines were hours long.” But if you’re into rides, we highly recommend taking the time to check this one out. And you can ride at park open or close for a shorter wait!

Flight of Passage Entrance

If you aren’t into either Flight of Passage or Na’vi River Journey, a stop by Pandora is still well worth it. Try the Night Blossom from Pongu Pongu or the Cheeseburger Pods from Satu’li Canteen. And at night, watch the land transform into a bioluminescent rainforest. It’s breathtaking!

Here’s How to Get on Popular Rides with a Shorter Wait!

Beaches and Cream

Your Disney World experience may be allll about the parks. But we challenge you to spend some time chillin’ at the hotels, too! And if you find yourself near Disney’s Beach Club Resort, you HAVE to give Beaches and Cream a try.

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

This popular ice cream shop is one of our FAVORITE spots to eat on property. You’ll enjoy classic eats with a retro diner feel (keep an eye out for the jukebox!). And of course, the standout here is the ice cream. Our #1 pick is the No Way José sundae, which is peanut butter and chocolate goodness. Trust us. You’ve gotta try it.

No Way Jose

If you are planning on eating here, we recommend booking well in advance. Reservations tend to go fast!

Read Our Latest Beaches and Cream Review!

Table Service Restaurants

Many of our readers told us they wish they’d eaten at more Table Service restaurants in general. And while its certainly not the most cost-effective way to dine on property, if you’ve got it in your budget, these restaurants can make for a great experience. Not to mention, some spots are a bit more budget-friendly.

The Plaza Restaurant

In particular, our readers mentioned Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort. All of these restaurants have a highly unique atmosphere (you literally get to dine inside the castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table), and many also give you a chance to say hello to some of your favorite characters.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

If you’ve got the time and space in your budget, we recommend booking one or two of these Table Service reservations throughout your trip. They could really add a little somethin’ extra to your vacation!

Check Out the Best Value Table Service Restaurants!

Staying at a Deluxe Resort

Like dining at Table Service restaurants, staying at a Deluxe Resort is largely budget-dependent. Every tier of hotel — be that Value, Moderate, or Deluxe — has its unique pros and cons. But some of our readers DID mention that they strongly preferred Deluxe hotels or wished they’d paid a little extra for one.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Why? While they’re pricier, these hotels have more amenities, higher-quality dining (California Grill and Topolino’s Terrace, we’re lookin’ at you!), and are closer to the parks. The theming also tends to be SUPER immersive. Some of our readers’ favorite spots to stay? Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Riviera Resort!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Do keep in mind that a stay at a Deluxe Resort is by NO means a must for an awesome vacation. But if you’ve got the space to splurge a little, our readers recommend it!

Check Out Our Readers’ Deluxe Resort Rankings!

Add a few of these must-do’s to your list next time you visit Disney World, and let us know what YOU regret skipping on your vacation. Stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep bringing ya the latest Disney news!

epcot-flag-missing-9259

The flags representing the Imagination Pavilion have been temporarily removed from the entrance to EPCOT. The flags were raised in March, with each flag displaying a different pavilion logo. According to Cast Members, one of the flags with the Imagination Pavilion logo was damaged and taken down. The flag on the other side was then not raised to keep a balanced visual.

How to Tackle EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival with Kids

The 2021 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is quickly approaching and, if you’re a parent, you might be wondering if it’s kid-friendly.

Food & Wine 2020!

The short answer is — yes! We’ve got tons of tips and ideas for making the most out of Food and Wine WITH your kids and all it really takes is some planning!

Planning Your Trip

Research the Menu

Before your trip, it’s a good idea to research the EPCOT Food and Wine menu ahead of time with your kids, ESPECIALLY if you have picky eaters. Our YouTube is a great resource for this!

You can also look at our menu pages, our previous Best of the Fests, and more. Planning your trip as a family is a great way to connect AND generate excitement about trying new foods. But having a plan beforehand will save time and the headache of spending money on something your kiddos don’t want to eat!

Visit the DFBGuide YouTube channel here!

Choose Dishes

It might be fun to let each child choose two (or more!) new dishes that they would like to try as a way to make them feel included in the planning and excited about trying something new.

Waffles with Chocolate Ganache

Have fun with it! Let them plan their meal and decide what new foods they want to try. There are usually lots of exciting options for kiddos like cake pops, funnel cakes, slushies, and so much more. Menus have not been released for this year’s festival, but they should be released soon. The booths have been announced though, so you can start on that research now!

Keep visiting this page as we learn more about the 2021 Food and Wine Menu!

Things to Bring

Wet Wipes

Since your kiddos will be chowing down on some food, so you’ll definitely want to bring a few specific items. For example, food often means messes, and we know how often kids do not finish their food.

Wet Wipes at Disney

Therefore, we suggest bringing some Wet Wipes. These will be a necessity for wiping those sticky hands and for cleaning festival tables.

Click here to grab some Wet Wipes!

Takeout Containers

The food at Food and Wine comes in little cardboard boats, which is great for easy access but not great for putting in your park bag when you and your kids are so full you can’t finish it.

Bananas Foster Waffle

You may want to pack takeout containers to store all of your extra food! Then you have snacks for later when you get hungry back at your hotel and you saved all those delicious extras.

Click here to grab some takeout containers!

Entertainment

You may also want to consider bringing entertainment for the kids as lines for booths and rides can sometimes be very long. We love coloring books as an easy thing to pack in your park bag, like these mess-free activity books.

©Disney

While you’re waiting in a long food line, your kids can even color with the marker on their clothes and leave no mark! Everyone wins.

Click here to get your own Imagine Ink books!

Stay Cool

Some of those long booth lines are in direct sunlight, and if you’re planning to visit the Food and Wine Festival in July or August, you would benefit from some kind of cooling device, like this rechargeable handheld fan.

©Amazon

Either you or your kids can hold onto this fan for some quick cooling action when the Florida heat is a bit much. At the end of the day, charge your fan for your next park visit! You can also get fans that attach to your kiddo’s strollers.

Get your own rechargeable travel fan here!

During Your Visit

Gift Cards

A great way to let your child feel included is to use gift cards! We’ve recommended gift cards for adults at Food and Wine as a way to budget, and giving a gift card to your kids lets them “pay” for their own meals.

2018 Wristlet Gift Cards

Sometimes you can even find a promotion for Disney gift cards, such as receiving 5% off a Disney gift card at Target when you use your Target Red Card. When you’re on a budget and every penny counts, those savings really add up!

Check out our top budgeting tips for EPCOT Food and Wine here!

Festival Passport

If your child is able to read, you could put them in charge of the (free!) Food & Wine festival passport, and allow them to check off every food your family tries!

2019 Festival Passport

The Food and Wine festival passport lists all the food booths and menu items so that you know exactly where you want to eat and can serve as a fun souvenir and reminder of your visit and all the new foods your kids enjoyed.

Click here to read more about the festival passport!

Scavenger Hunt

Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt has been around for a few years now and Disney recently confirmed that it will be back for 2021! Your family will love searching for tiny Remy statuettes hidden all over EPCOT.

Remy’s Ratatouille Hide and Squeak

During the Food and Wine Festival, you can buy the map and stickers from several locations in EPCOT for $7.99. If you finish the scavenger hunt, you can return to select stores for a special prize! Stay tuned to DFB for updates on the 2021 scavenger hunt.

Read more about Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak here!

Kidcot Fun Stops

A MUST DO for families in EPCOT is to visit the Kidcot Fun Stops located in every World Showcase Pavilion. And it’s free! There are 11 cards to collect around the World Showcase and if you collect them all, you get a prize.

Kidcot Fun Stop

At each station, a Cast Member will give every child a little card and stickers in a “luggage” Ziploc bag. Kids can use markers to decorate their cards, and Cast Members will write or stamp the card just like a passport. This is a great way for kids to learn about other countries and just enjoy some coloring.

Click here to read more about the Kidcot Fun Stop!

Cheese Crawl

Now that we know the cheese crawl will also be returning to the 2021 Food and Wine Festival, you might want to consider participating if you are a family that loves cheese.

We take our cheese crawling VERY seriously!

Emile’s Fromage Montage is a free passport with 5 different cheese menu items that allow you to receive a stamp for each purchase. If you complete your passport, you get a prize! Lots of cheese and a prize — everyone is winning here.

Click here to learn more about the cheese crawl!

Other Ideas

There are a lot of other possible activities your can build into your day, such as pin trading in every country or searching for hidden Mickeys around EPCOT,

Pin Trading Headquarters EPCOT

We also have a list of unique things to do in EPCOT that would be perfect for many families out there, especially if you decide to take a break from the Food and Wine Festival.

Don’t leave EPCOT before you do this!

We were at Disney’s Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel for its recent grand opening. In addition to visiting its lounges and gift shop, we were fortunate to experience three different accommodation types during our stay. We have already shared tours of an Empire State Club room and a Spider-Man Suite. Now let’s check out an Avengers Suite. A half bathroom, with a single vanity and toilet, is immediately on the right after entering the suite. The faucet […]
