disney-enchantment-debuts-oct-1-at-magic-kingdom-park

With the debut of the new nighttime spectacular Disney Enchantment set for October 1, it seems that changes are afoot around the Magic Kingdom. We got our first hints of the show when a permit was filed for “Project Nugget” at the current fireworks launch site last summer. Now, Disney has filed permits to add what appear to be additional fireworks launch sites around the perimeter of the park. The 50-page permit filing addresses four sites: C-104: A currently-vacant plot […]

NEWS: The Wave Will Be Reimagined at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

There are a LOT of changes going on around Disney World right now, particularly as the entire resort prepares for the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Big Changes are Coming to the Contemporary

Guest rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are getting a Moana-themed makeover, Cinderella Castle is getting spruced up, and more changes are being made all over the parks and hotels. Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, big changes are on the way for its guest rooms and one of its restaurants too!

We’ve seen construction going on for quite some time at the Contemporary in the hallways and rooms in the Main Tower.

An interesting look

Today we finally got a first look at the reimagined rooms coming to this hotel, which will be themed to the Incredibles.

But the guest rooms aren’t the only things changing at the Contemporary. We had previously shared that The Wave…of American Flavors, a restaurant located on the bottom floor at the Contemporary, would soon be closing for a period of time this summer. Disney’s website notes that they will be refurbishing the space in time for the 50th Anniversary.

Now, we’ve gotten a bit more information about what’s going on over at The Wave. Earlier today, Disney shared that The Wave will soon “close” to “make way for a reimagined dining experience in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration.”

What will this reimagined dining experience include? Will it incorporate the Incredibles theming that is being added to the guest rooms? Will The Wave’s breakfast buffet return or be available in some form? Disney hasn’t shared details on any of that, but we’ll be on the lookout for more updates.

In the meantime, just be aware that reservations will be available for The Wave through July 15th. After that, this spot will close to be transformed into this “reimagined” dining experience. We’ll be sure to share any updates about this spot with you, so stay tuned for more news from us here at DFB!

Disney Confirms Reimagining of The Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

the-wave-of-american-flavors-1-7613223

Though exact details have not been announced, Disney has confirmed that The Wave… of American Flavors in Disney’s Contemporary Resort will receive a “reimagined dining experience.” This comes alongside the first look inside Disneys Contemporary Resort’s new Incredibles-themed rooms. In 2019, we first heard rumors about The Wave becoming an Incredibles-themed steakhouse, so this idea may now be coming to fruition. The Wave… of American Flavors and The Wave Lounge will be closing in mid-July for the refurbishment. An exact […]

NEWS and PHOTOS: New Incredibles Theme Revealed for Disney’s Contemporary Resort

There are a LOT of refurbishments and construction projects going on all over Disney World.

Something New is Coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

In terms of the hotels, last year Disney announced that guest rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would be getting a Moana-inspired makeover. Later, we saw that some guest rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort would be refurbished and “reimagined” this year. We’ve seen construction ongoing for this refurbishment, but no specific details about what those refurbished rooms would look like or be inspired by had been shared…until NOW!

When Disney shared a first look at the Moana-inspired rooms coming to the Polynesian, it noted that “This exciting progress is part of the overall evolution of our Disney Resort hotels, as we infuse even more Disney touches across our collection – just in time for ‘The World’s Most Magical Celebration,’ beginning October 1st, 2021, in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.”

That got us wondering…what other “Disney touches” will be infused across Disney’s Resort hotels? And now, it seems we finally know (at least a bit of) that answer!

Disney has just announced that guest rooms in the Contemporary Resort will be getting an Incredibles-themed makeover! Specifically, the refurbishment will enhance the retro-modern aesthetic of the hotel evoking Tomorrowland with a dash of something Incredible!

It’s the Incredibles!

That’s right — soon you’ll spot decor and other things inspired by your favorite super family throughout select guest rooms at the Contemporary! Picture it: you could stand inside of your room, surrounded by some Incredibles theming, and shout “where’s my super suit?!?” (referring, of course, to your perfect Disney park outfit with fabulous Mickey ears).

Here’s a FIRST LOOK at one of these refurbished rooms!

According to Disney, all 9 floors of the guest rooms in the tower are being completely refurbished. Once the tower guest rooms are complete, work is set to begin on the rooms inside the Garden Wing out on the shore of Bay Lake.

Disney notes that the rooms “will blend a sleek Monorail motif with some favorite characters from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles” films, including Jack-Jack, Frozone…

and Edna Mode.”

It looks like these rooms will be full of all kinds of unique details including decorations in the drawers that will make you feel like you’re getting ready for your next mission…

…and designs in the closet that’ll make you feel like you’re just one of the family!

There will be new custom artwork in guest rooms and along guest corridors with a modern and futuristic style.

Here’s a look at what the bathrooms look like in these refurbished rooms.

In the lobby, guests will also soon see a collection of “modern art pieces as well as historical, behind-the-scenes photographs of Disney’s Contemporary Resort in development and under construction.”

We’re on the lookout for more updates about these reimagined rooms. Let’s just hope Edna Mode approves of the design (and that there are no capes anywhere).

Contemporary Resort Construction

Currently, the Disney World website notes that “Starting in April 2021, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will begin a refurbishment to reimagine Guest rooms. While some Main Tower rooms will be unavailable during the refurbishment, most resort areas and amenities will still be available for Guests to enjoy.”

When we first spoke to a Cast Member in January of this year, they noted that the Contemporary Resort would be undergoing refurbishments in the Main Tower Guest Rooms from April through September of 2021. Disney has noted that the new decor in the refurbished rooms will debut this fall. But, of course, refurbishment and construction timelines and details are subject to change.

Contemporary Construction

If you’re planning to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort during the upcoming months, just be aware that these refurbishments will be going on during that time and that might limit the availability of some rooms at the Contemporary. The construction can also make some of the spaces in the Grand Canyon Concourse area in particular very noisy.

Click here to see some updates on the Contemporary Resort construction.

Also at the Contemporary, The Wave…of American Flavors will soon be closing ahead of the 50th Anniversary, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to stay at this resort in the upcoming months. Disney has shared that this spot will be closing to “make way for a reimagined dining experience in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration.”

We’ll be on the lookout for more information about all of the work going on in the Contemporary and let you know if we spot any updates!

Disney Shares First Look of Reimagining at Contemporary Resort

We have all been wondering and speculating about what is going on behind all of those scrims lining each floor of the main building of Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Well, Walt Disney World has just shared the first look – behind the scrims – at the lengthy refurbishment that’s happening! And that Incredibles theming we’ve been hearing about has been confirmed!

Walt Disney Imagineering is “enhancing the retro-modern aesthetic evoking Tomorrowland … with a dash of something Incredible, too”, take a look!

As you can see, these rooms will blend a sleek Monorail motif with some favorite characters from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles” films, including Jack-Jack, Frozone and Edna Mode. New custom artwork in guest rooms and along guest corridors will be modern, futuristic and oh so stylish, dahling, complementing the resort’s architecture while putting the Supers’ powers on display.

In the lobby, you’ll soon see a collection of modern art pieces as well as historical, behind-the-scenes photographs of Disney’s Contemporary Resort in development and under construction. The resort’s lobby restaurant, The Wave… of American Flavors, will also soon close to make way for a reimagined dining experience in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration. And once the tower guest rooms are complete, work will begin on the rooms inside the Garden Wing out on the shore of Bay Lake.

Here’s what you’ll see in those Garden Wing rooms!

The changes taking place at this resort are the latest example of enhancements being made as Walt Disney World prepares for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” which begins on October 1, 2021, in honor of its 50th anniversary.
