One of Disney’s most underrated holidays is coming up: 626 Day!

Hi Stitch!

You may be thinking, “What’s 626 Day?” and we’re here to tell you, it’s the day we celebrate Experiment 626, AKA Stitch, of course! The cute but chaotic blue experiment from outer space has his own day, June 26th (duh), and we found a special treat to celebrate!

Say Aloha to this adorable Stitch cake we found at Capt. Cook’s in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!

We found him chillin’ in the fridge ahead of his big day (the hot-headed alien definitely needs to cool off sometimes!).

Stitch even has a cute little duck friend blowing him a kiss…

…and a red decorative flower on his head!

He’s all ready for the summer!

The treat has a milk chocolate dome cake, white chocolate ganache icing dyed blue, dark chocolate ganache, and a blue sugar cookie base!

So photogenic

Stitch’s ears and the duck are white chocolate, his eyes and nose are fondant. The decorative piping is buttercream dotted by mini chocolate crisp pearls, and on his head is a meringue candy flower. Jeez, can you say sugar rush?! You’ll be bouncing off the walls just like Mr. 626 after eating this!

The cake was a bit dry, but we think that’s probably because he was in the fridge first. The cookie base is fun, but it makes it kind of hard to cut into!

The blue and green icing were also super messy! They WILL stain your hands and clothes if you’re not careful, so be warned! You may need wet wipes. But, Stitch himself is a mess sometimes, so you can also just embrace his attitude in honor of the holiday!

The Poly has done specialty cakes for Stitch before, like the cupcake we found last year at the resort and the one we saw in 2019 that looked very similar to this version!

And, we’ve got plenty of updates to share with you! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive right on in!

EPCOT Food Update

La Cava del Tequila

Guess who’s back, back again? La Cava‘s BACK, tell your friends! Since the closure, the bar has been selling to-go drinks with most of the tables and chairs removed from inside the dining space. But, La Cava del Tequila has officially reopened its dining room to guests!

Guests can scan a QR code menu to see the restaurant’s list of over 200 tequilas, along with specialty cocktails.

When guests sit down, they can munch on amazing chips…

…along with AWESOME salsa that pairs wonderfully with a great drink!

In honor of the reopening, La Cava is also featuring new glassware as well as the Welcome Back Margarita made with Ojo de Tigre mezcal, blackberry purée, Ancho Reyes Verde liqueur, Abasolo corn whiskey, agave nectar, lime juice, and a black ant salt rim for $17.

And, boy, does it feel good to have the bar back in action!

France Pavilion

While we were in the France Pavilion, we noticed that two popular spots were closed to guests during our visit. Crêpes de Chefs de France wasn’t available to guests…

…along with L’Artisan des Glaces. The closures were temporary — no need to worry.

Japan Outdoor Bar

Speaking of spots that weren’t open, we noticed that Japan Pavilion’s Outdoor Bar was closed as well. The sign on the door redirected guests to the Katsura Garden for Violet Sake and a Tokyo Sunset, among other drinks.

Future World Cart

Now that the summer has kicked off, we’re HYPED that refreshing sips are making their way into the parks. And, over at the Future World Cart, we spotted the seasonal Sun Viking IPA beer that’s new to the location for the summer months.

Morocco Pavilion

We stopped by the Oasis Sweets & Sips to check out five new treats in the bakery case that we just couldn’t pass up trying! Whenever you stop by, you can order one for $2.50, three for $6.50, five for $11, or seven for $15.

We stopped by to try the Mosaic Cookie with Apricot Jam, which paired apricot and chocolate…

EPCOT Merchandise Update

We can’t help but want to take home new merchandise each time we’re in the parks. And, the Retro Mickey Tumbler caught our eye over at Mouse Gear with its bright colors and 90s influences!

The lid comes with a built-in straw that can easily be accessed, no matter where you are or what you’re doing in the parks. Whether you’re putting ice-cold water or your favorite drink inside, the Retro Mickey Tumbler is a pretty fabulous accessory to take with you for $22.99.

EPCOT Entertainment Update

If you’re looking for an amazing picture to out in the scrapbooks or on your social media, you’re going to want to head over to Spaceship Earth! A new PhotoPass shot is situated in front of the attraction, where a Cast Member will scan your MagicBand and pose you.

Test Track

The next time you’re in EPCOT, you can skip some of the longer lines because Single Rider is back once again. When you first enter the attraction, you can opt for the Single Rider line, where you’ll be separated from your party (but it may cut down some of the time you’re in line)!

But, if you go the route of the regular queue, Test Track’s interactive pre-show — the Design Studio — has reopened!

You Can Design Your Car Again

Guests are able to make sure their vehicles meet the Capability, Power, Responsiveness, and Efficiency standards as they add their own flair with shapes, colors, and more.

Time to Get Designing!

As guests go throughout the attraction, they’ll be able to see how their vehicle stacks up against everyone else’s onboard. Then, the winner will be announced at the end of the ride, so you can score some bragging rights!

China Pavilion

We’ve been able to see Mulan in the Princess Cavalcades in both EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom. But, now she’s all dressed up and greeting guests from a distance in the China Pavilion! Just like her dad said, “the flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” So, it’s only fitting to see Mulan standing in the gardens in the pavilion!

The gardens over here are beautiful, but now there’s even more reason to visit.

We aren’t sure when meet-and-greets will be back again. But, we’re still thrilled to see all sorts of characters out and about in the parks at a distance, regardless!

We’ve been watching the construction continue over at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, hoping that we’ll be able to see it soon for Disney World’s 50th anniversary! Currently, the building is covered in blue tarps as both the roof…

Food and Wine Festival

We cannot WAIT until the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival kicks off next month with returning booths and new spots to visit! Recently, we’ve seen booths already begin to be set up around EPCOT as the park gets ready for its fan-favorite eats and treats to debut. And, now MORE food booths have started to pop up in the parks prior to the start of the festival! Jardin de Fiestas has shuttered its window before switching over to the Mexico booth…

We’ve seen restaurants reopening and other changes made all throughout Disney World recently.

But Casey’s Corner is Still Closed!!

Some spots, however, are still closed, like our beloved Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom! Even though this spot is closed, we recently saw some changes made to its menu. Has your favorite item been removed? What’s changed? We’re breaking it all down for you here!

Do not fret — the beloved Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner are still listed on the menu online! Hooray!!

But a few things have been removed from the menu:

• The Mickey Celebration Sipper has been removed from the menu
• The Bacon Macaroni & Cheese All-Beef Hot Dog has also been removed from the menu
• The Bacon Macaroni & Cheese French Fries have also been taken off the menu

What about things that have been added or changed? Here’s a break-down:

• An All-Beef Foot-long Hot Dog has been added to the menu
• Generally, the main entree items now show that they will be served with your choice of fries or a Cuties Mandarin (as opposed to apple slices)
• The All-Beef Hot Dog has gone down in price from $9.99 to $9.49
• A side of Cuties Mandarians (3 pack) is now listed on the menu for $4.19
• It looks like assorted fountain beverages only come in 1 size now and are priced at $4.49
• And the website has now specified that they are serving Freshly Brewed Joffrey’s Coffee for their regular coffee (although it looks like this was already listed previously for their decaf option)

Casey’s Corner — How We Miss You!

Could these changes mean that Casey’s Corner is getting ready to open up soon? We sure hope so!! Disney hasn’t made any announcements yet regarding a future reopening of Casey’s Corner but we’ll be on the lookout for more details.
