Now that Disneyland Paris has finally reopened to guests, we’ve been counting down the days until the NEW Hotel New York would finally make its debut too!

But, the wait is finally over for the latest Marvel-inspired resort!

Today’s the official opening day for Disney’s Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel (and it looks just as incredible as it sounds)! The hotel’s design was created by more than 110 artists who showcase Marvel artwork throughout the lobby, rooms, and beyond. Designers drew direct inspiration from Tony Stark’s Wall of Armor with collector figurines, art books, exclusive editions of Marvel Comics, and more items to add to the overall architecture of the boutique building.

The four-star Hotel New York has 561 rooms with references to all kinds of Marvel stories, like Spider-Man’s webs on the ceiling of the Spider-Man Suite or the realm of Asgard from Thor on the Avengers Suites’ headboards. There’s even the Art of Marvel Presidential Suits with two floors, contemporary and sleek furniture, exclusive Marvel artwork in every room, and additional amenities.

After having a blast in your incredible hotel room, you can dine at the amazing restaurants throughout the resort too. Modern Italian eats can be found at the Manhattan Restaurant with a casual atmosphere, accompanied by the stunning crystal chandelier that combines elements of the Manhattan skyline and Asgard.

Guests can also head to the Downtown Restaurant with meals prepared by chefs live in front of them. Or, if they’re looking for a night cap, they can head to the Skyline Bar with a midtown high rise atmosphere and martini cocktails, along with Bleecker Street Lounge‘s decorations and drinks inspired by Doctor Strange for visitors of all ages.

There are even awesome experiences for guests like photo-ops with Spider-Man at the Super Hero Station or simulated pictures inside their favorite Marvel film at the Marvel Photo Station. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make a Marvel Comic, you can head over to the Marvel Design Studio for drawing tutorials. And, the Hero’s Training Zone even lets everyone channel their own super skills at the multisport field with basketball, fitness center, yoga, and indoor and outdoor Metro Pool (that also has a kiddie pool).

But, the best part about the opening is that you can even snag a sweet surprise if you book a stay before July 29th, 2021 with an arrival date before March 30th, 2022. These guests will receive an exclusive Marvel print by Matt Ferguson AND a complimentary mocktail of your choice in one of Hotel New York’s many bars.

Disney Cruise Line has scheduled cruises for this year. These have been canceled on a rolling basis, and no official return to the seas date has been shared. When they do resume, the cruises might look a little different than you remember them, as Disney makes adjustments to keep passengers and crew safe and in line with CDC regulations.

One cruise line out of Florida has already gotten started, though! The Royal Caribbean was the first cruise line to sail with passengers, which they did this past Sunday. 

In March of 2020, the CDC set a no-sail order, which has remained in effect until recently, when they revised it to be a conditional sail order. Cruise lines had two options under this conditional sail order: (1) Conduct a simulated cruise (basically a short cruise with non-paying passengers) to prove the effectiveness of COVID-19 protections and earn approval to sail from the CDC or (2) 98% of staff and 95% of passengers must be vaccinated.

And according to Orlando Sentinel, Royal Caribbean chose the first option, so the passengers aboard their current 2-night cruise to the Bahamas are not paying customers (although there are guest passengers on board).

Florida’s governor challenged the CDC with a lawsuit, claiming the CDC’s authority did not extend to their no-sail or conditional-sail orders. If the lawsuit is successful, the CDC’s orders will become guidelines instead. U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday said, “This order finds that Florida is highly likely to prevail on the merits of the claim that CDC’s conditional sailing order and the implementing orders exceed the authority delegated to the CDC” (clickOrlando).

The result of this decision will likely affect the Disney Cruise Line, including determining whether test-cruises or vaccinations will be necessary.
