Favorite Fort Wilderness Activity Returns with Modifications

Fans of the Fort can rejoice; one of the most beloved activities available to guests of the resort has returned, albeit with a few modifications.

The evening campfire that takes place at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground‘s movie area has resumed, but without Chip ‘n’ Dale and without the Cowboy Sing-A-Long. The campfire will take place from 7-8pm on select nights through the end of June, and will begin occurring every evening starting July 1st.

Again, for the time being, Chip ‘n’ Dale will not be a part of the campfire time, and the sing-a-long portion of the campfire will not take place. Guests may bring their own supplies for roasting marshmallows, and if you need extra s’mores supplies, graham crackers, chocolate bars, and bags of marshmallows are available for sale at the nearby Meadow Trading Post.

The nightly Movie Under the Stars begins at 8:30pm. Those wishing to participate should keep in mind that both the campfire and the movie are weather permitting.

Salt & Straw Ice Cream Shop Coming to Disney Springs

In posts on both their Twitter and Instagram accounts late Sunday night, Salt & Straw, the popular ice cream shop located at Downtown Disney at Disneyland, shared that they are opening a brand new location in the near future. They asked posters to guess where it is going to be located. They provided hints by using a Mickey Ear ice cream cone photo along with a castle, mouse, and star pixie dust emojis.

Fast forward to right now, Salt & Straw has just officially announced that they’re expanding their presence to the Most Magical Place on Earth with the debut of its scoop shop at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World in 2022!

Salt & Straw is a family-run company founded by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek. Born in Portland, OR in 2011, 2021 marks Salt & Straw’s 10-year anniversary. Best known for its cult-favorite ice cream, Salt & Straw offers innovative, taste-provoking flavors that connect fans to food narratives and provide ongoing taste adventures.

Fans of the brand can indulge in an ever-changing menu of its small batch, hand-churned ice cream as the company creates unique menus in each city that change every four to six weeks. The curiously delicious flavors that will be available at Salt & Straw’s Disney Springs location include all-time favorites like Honey Lavender and Chocolate Gooey Brownie, alongside unique flavor collaborations specific to its Florida locations including The Salty Donut Guava & Cheese and Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches.

To create a warm and welcoming destination for their Disney Springs scoop shop, the Salt & Straw team enlists longtime partner, Osmose Design. Visitors and locals alike can indulge in the magic and wonder of Salt & Straw’s unique flavors while connecting with one another. The Portland based design team is led by principal and owner, Andee Hess, who has envisioned all 26 Salt & Straw locations throughout the country.

Hess shares,

As huge Walt Disney World fans, we were inspired to go really BIG with an exterior facade that screams ice cream and makes sure we show the world how excited Salt & Straw is to be here. The results will be an epically inviting and tantalizing exciting shop that evokes crafted deliciousness.

Canada Begins Lifting Travel Restrictions for Vaccinated Residents

When it comes to COVID-19, things are changing at a rapid pace.

New health and safety signage

COVID-19 brought quite a few travel restrictions that led to an impact on Florida tourism. Though the Disney park reservation system is still in place to limit capacity, restrictions have been lifting in terms of not only masks but also social distancing and capacity. Now, another country will be lifting travel restrictions that could reflect on the number of park visitors.

According to CTVNews, as of July 5, 2021, Canada will be allowing fully vaccinated Canadian residents to enter Canada without having to quarantine or undergo COVID-19 testing.

Social distancing markers

Canada will consider an individual fully vaccinated after they have received the full series of a vaccine at least 14 days before entering Canada. HealthCanada has currently authorized the Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Donald says hi!

Canadian residents will be required to provide proof of vaccination and travelers will need to submit all COVID-19 documentation and information in the Canadian government’s ArriveCAN app prior to returning to Canada. CTV News writes that this is a “first step towards a vaccination passport.”

Social distancing sign

Fully vaccinated Canadian travelers must also be asymptomatic, and fully vaccinated adults traveling with unvaccinated children will be required to quarantine at home, though the vaccinated adults will be allowed to leave their homes.

We will keep you updated as we learn more about the rollout of travel restrictions around the world. Stick with DFB for all your news!
