Disney World’s got a lot of new things coming to the parks! Between all the 50th anniversary celebration things, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Space 220, and more, the Imagineers have certainly been keeping busy!

There’s one project, though, that seems to have taken a back-burner in Disney World.
TRON Lightcycle Run is under construction right now in Tomorrowland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, but we haven’t heard many updates from Disney World about when it’s going to open! Originally, Disney was planning to open this for the 50th anniversary, which is October 1st, 2021, but the project has likely been delayed.
TRON: Lightcycle Power Run is Coming to Disney World
TRON Lightcycle Run is an existing ride in Shanghai Disneyland, and it’s expected to be pretty similar in Disney World. The roller coaster uses panels on the outdoor portion to show different colored lights, and light plays a big role during the whole ride, both indoors and out.

Guests will board the roller coaster vehicles the same way you would a motorcycle, so you’re leaning forward on the two-wheeled bikes during the ride, which gets up to 59 miles per hour!

As far as when guests will be able to ride this exciting, fast coaster, there’s still not much info available. Disney World hasn’t commented recently on when the ride will open or what progress looks like inside, so all we can do is watch what’s going on outside! And we have been doing that, very carefully!

We’ve seen paneling go up on the inside portion of the ride, as well as the track and a huge canopy. We stopped by the site again today to get you an update on what’s going on!

It looks like there hasn’t been much change since our last update, but you can see the paneling on the building looks close to finished, and there’s a blue net-type thing going over the outdoor canopy!

It looks like there’s still a lot of work to do on the outdoor portion especially, so we’re interested to see when it’s able to open! Keep following DFB for updates and news on all things Disney!
