Thinking of heading to Disney World in August? Haven’t booked your hotel yet or wondering if you should switch your reservation to somewhere else?
Well you probably have looked at the prices and availability for Disney World’s hotels and maybe even some other resorts nearby. But, have you looked at availability and pricing for an Airbnb? Today we’re sharing a look at Airbnb prices and availability near Disney World for August to give you a sense of what it would cost if you stayed at an Airbnb that month!
For our little price experiment, we took a look at Airbnb pricing for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids between the ages of 2-12). We took a look at a few weekends in August as well as a full week in the middle of the month). Let’s break-down what we saw!
First, we looked near Walt Disney World for a stay from August 5th through the 8th.
For reference, you can see EPCOT near the top center of the map and a number of Airbnb locations nearby. Of course, depending on how far or close to the parks you want to stay, you’ll find a variety of options available.
Based on our search of this general map area, we found a number of options available including some condos for $119 a night and a townhouse for $130 a night.
In terms of average price, the average was about $210 per night for the map area we looked at. Other searches we did by putting in different map areas to search led to averages of $216. Again, this can vary depending on what area you limit your search to.
We did essentially the same type of search for August 12th through the 15th.
Once again, here’s a look at the map for reference — you can see EPCOT marked in the top center area.
In terms of average price for this weekend, the cost was about $208 per night. When we searched a slightly different area of the map (still near Disney World) the average was closer to $213.
We then did a similar search for August 26th through the 29th and the average price was $186. When we did another search with a slightly larger map area the average was around $195.
Then, we did a search for a slightly longer stay — from August 15th through the 21st. You can see the map area below with some of the results (you can see EPCOT marked near the top center.
For this longer stay, the average price was about $206. When we did another search for a slightly larger map area the average was about $216.
Again, these prices can vary depending on what area of the map you look at. If you zero in on areas closer to Disney World or in a particular part of Orlando, you may find that prices are higher or lower. These prices can also vary depending on what type of location you want — a townhouse, condo, etc. with more rooms, less rooms, a pool, etc.
Overall though, based on the general space in the various map areas we looked at near Disney World, the average price was around $206. When we just averaged those higher costs it was about $210. Again, just remember that this is an average price.
The question you then have to ask yourself is whether an Airbnb is right for you. If you’re looking to be ON Disney World property and use Disney transportation, then staying at an Airbnb won’t be the right fit for you. But, if you’re looking for a place with more rooms and potentially other amenities like a pool or kitchen, and you’re willing to drive to the parks or use a rideshare service to get there, then an Airbnb might be an okay fit. There are LOTS of reasons why you should and should not stay at a Disney World hotel (or other hotels or an Airbnb). You truly have to look at your needs and wants to decide what’s best.
