We’re keeping you updated with all the construction and closures in the Disney World parks and resorts!
This week, there’s a lot of the same refurbishments going on…but there’s a BIG Magic Kingdom ride that’ll be closed for a few days as well!
Of the Disney World parks, only Disney’s Magic Kingdom has scheduled refurbishments for this week! Although surprise closings can still happen in any park (such as if bad weather comes through), that means the other three parks should have all their rides and attractions open!
Magic Kingdom
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
The BIG news for Magic Kingdom this week is that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be closed for refurbishment on Tuesday, July 20th through Thursday, July 22nd. It should be open again and ready for Space Rangers on Friday, July 23rd!
Since it’s closing for such a short time, it’s likely that the refurbishments are just routine maintenance on the ride. Don’t forget that you can also head over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Toy Story Mania, which is another Toy Story-themed ride where you can also shoot toy blasters at objects!
Hall of Presidents
Hall of Presidents is also still closed in Magic Kingdom as Imagineers install the new President Joe Biden animatronic.
This attraction is scheduled to be closed at least until September 25th, but it could be longer because the refurbishment schedule is only updated for a few months out at a time.
Walt Disney World Railroad
Another attraction that’s scheduled to be closed indefinitely is the Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom. Because of TRON construction in Tomorrowland interfering with railroad tracks, this ride is not available.
It’s possible that the railroad will be back to operational once the TRON ride opens, but Disney hasn’t yet given a date for TRON Lightcycle Run’s opening.
Main Street Confectionery
Last for the Magic Kingdom closings is the Main Street Confectionery, which is getting updates to the inside of the sweet shop!
The Confectionery is only listed on the refurbishments calendar through September 18th, so we’re hoping it’s open on the 19th and the construction won’t be extended! We’ll keep you updated as we learn more!

Disney World Resorts
‘Ohana
The ‘Ohana restaurant in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort opened last week! They’re serving up breakfast and dinner again inside the Polynesian Resort.
The Polynesian
Beginning on July 19th (next Monday!), the Polynesian Village Resort is officially reopening! Although the Villas and Bungalows have been open to guests, the standard rooms and lobby area have been closed. On the 19th, these will reopen! Starting then, the check-in desk and guest services will move back to the Great Ceremonial House (from their temporary Pago Pago building set-up).
The Magical Express and valet services will operate outside the main entrance as well! You’ll still need to use a side entrance for now, as the main entrance will not be open at that time. Don’t worry about getting lost — Disney has said that Cast Members will be available to guide you to the correct entrance!
The monorail station at Polynesian will NOT open on the 19th. There still isn’t an official opening date for that yet!
The check-in desk and guest services will move from their temporary location at the Pago Pago building back to the Great Ceremonial House on the 19th. Magical Express and valet services will be under the new entrance as well! Guests will need to enter from the side entrance, however, as some construction will continue on the front. Cast members will be there to help you find it!
The Contemporary
In addition to the Polynesian Village construction, Disney’s Contemporary Resort is getting a few updates!
The main tower rooms are getting updated, and there will be new Incredibles-themed rooms!
The Wave
The Wave…of American Flavors — a restaurant located inside the Contemporary Resort — is closed for updates as well, which began on July 16th. It’s set to reopen in time for the 50th Anniversary in October, but in the meantime, you can still get The Wave breakfast inside the California Grill restaurant, also located in the Contemporary! You’ll still make reservations through The Wave restaurant rather than through California Grill.
Since the whole Resort wants in on the updates, the Contemporary lobby is closed for refurbishment, which also began on July 16th. Guests are directed to go to the second floor rather than the front desk to check-in and for guest services.
That’s about it for the scheduled closings this week! Keep following DFB for more Disney World info to help you plan your magical trip!
