Covering new and exclusive food items is our main staple for this blog, and today is no different. Whether it be Food Festivals or new foods, we have consistently covered what’s new and fresh to taste at the theme parks here in Orlando. It’s true that different areas in the Disney theme parks offer many delicious treats to choose from, but with so many options, there’s sure to be a delightful treat that will send your taste buds buzzing. Here at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival, they have just recently added weird new menu items such as pig ear salad. We couldn’t just pass up the opportunity to cover these weird foods the festival has to offer. So, join us as we cover 5 weird & new foods at Disney’s International Food & Wine Festival.
1. CRISPY BARBECUE PORK RINDS
Found at the Swanky Saucy Swine you will find a plethora of new weird food options. For our first taste test around the International Food & Wine Festival we decided to pick up the Crispy Barbecue Pork Rinds with Pimento Cheese, which is priced at $4.75. Upon first taste, the pork rinds with the Pimento Cheese was initially very spicy. This dish is very flavorful but again very spicy, if you’re not used to spice maybe don’t go with this dish. We would have to say this is one of the most spicy food items we’ve tasted here at Disney.
2. ROASTED PORCHETTA
Second on our list of weird and new menu items here at the International Food & Wine Festival, we find ourselves yet again at the Swanky Saucy Swine. We decided to pick up the Roasted Porchetta with Pork-Fat, Roasted Rosemary Potatoes and Lemon-Parsley Salsa Verde, which is priced at $6.25. Upon first taste, the pork was pretty dry but the Lemon-Parsley Salsa Verde helps it out with flavor. This dish was surprisingly good and we would eat it again, it gives a fall flavor to it and it’s absolutely delicious.
3. SOY-GLAZED STICKY RIBS
Found yet again at the Swanky Saucy Swine here at the International Food & Wine Festival, we also got the Soy-Glazed Sticky Ribs, which is priced at $7. The Soy-Glazed Sticky Ribs are served with Green Onions and Peanuts. Upon first taste of this dish, the initial first bite had a very sweet flavor to it but the meat wasn’t as tender as I would like. In conclusion, this dish was very delicious and I would see myself ordering this again!
4. CRISPY PIG EAR SALAD
For our final pickup from the Swanky Saucy Swine, we decided to go with the weirdest menu option and get the Crispy Pig Ear Salad. This interesting concoction of a salad is a Crispy Pig Ear Salad with Fire Roasted Tomatillo Sauce, Pickled Red Onions, Queso Fresco, Roasted Corn Salsa, and Avocado Cream, which is priced at $5.25. Upon first taste, we got a crunchy feel kind of like pork rinds but softer and easier to eat. Surprisingly the Crispy Pig Ear Salad was pretty good, but it was very vinegary. If you can get past the title of the dish, we think you will enjoy it if you like pickled flavors!
5. CRISPY CHICKEN ON A SRIRACHA-GLAZED DONUT
For our final weird new menu item of the day here at the International Food & Wine Festival, we end our day at The Donut Box booth! From here we got a variety of donuts but the one that stood out the most was the Crispy Chicken on a Sriracha-Glazed Donut, which was priced at $8.50. Upon first taste, the majority of the flavor is the donut so I’m not getting a lot of chicken flavor or sriracha flavor but at the end there is a little bit of spice. In conclusion, this sandwich is very delicious and the salty goes perfectly with the sweet for a nice flavor dish.
