Does This Dining Glitch Mean Disney World Will Bring Back the 180 Day Booking Window Soon?

There are several things you need to do prior to your Disney World trip like make Park Pass reservations, and, perhaps most importantly, make those Advanced Dining Reservations.

When Disney World reopened after the pandemic closures last year, it reduced the Advanced Dining Reservations booking window to 60 days, as opposed to 180 days. But, could that be changing soon? Here’s what we’re seeing.

Earlier today one of our fantastic readers, Ron Mueller, reached out to us about something they were seeing with the Advanced Dining Reservations calendar. Specifically, they noticed that the calendar on the Disney World website allowed them to scroll through to January 17th, 2022 when selecting a date to search for reservations. That would be 180 days from today, much further than the 60 day booking window. So, we went to search for ourselves.

One member of our team took a look at the dining page and was in fact able to scroll the calendar all the way through to January 17, 2022.

But, when they actually tried to look for available reservations on that date, the Disney website showed an error message and said there was a problem searching for reservations at this time. So, no reservations could actually be booked for that far in advance.

Another member of our team looked on both the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website and was only able to move the calendar through September of 2021, within the current 60 day window. So it seems that the glitch that allows guests to even scroll 180 days into the calendar is only appearing for some individuals.

So, what do we know? Right now, Advanced Dining Reservations at Disney World can still only be made 60 days in advance (though Disney Resort hotel guests can make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of their stay up to 10 days). Some guests may be able to move the calendar on the dining site all the way through January of 2022, 180 days from now, but will not be able to make a reservation for that far in advance.

Could this mean that Disney is preparing the site to eventually allow for reservations to be made 180 days in advance? It’s possible, but Disney has not yet made any statements to that effect or changed its policy. It’s possible that this is nothing more than a simple glitch in the system.
