The 2021 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival has finally arrived with all kinds of treats for everyone to enjoy!
We’ll be checking out ALL of the booths that have arrived and bringing you our FULL reviews. Right now, it’s time for a little trip to the Italy booth to sample the brand NEW dishes and see what else has returned!
You’ll find the Italy booth located near the Italy pavilion in World Showcase. You can check out our FREE DFB exclusive printable map for the Festival to get a look at where all of the booths are located so you don’t miss one.
Menu
The menu at the Italy booth, at least in terms of food dishes, has changed quite a bit from last year.
The margherita pizza, la classica (cheese tortellini), and cannoli Siciliani from last year are all gone! In their place is one returning item from previous festivals (the Bomboloni) and two brand NEW food dishes.
Food
Next up we have another new ravioli dish, but this one features Grilled Chicken Ravioli with Alfredo Sauce, Romano Cheese, and Prezzemolo. How much ravioli is too much ravioli? To that, we must say “SILENZIO, BRUNO!” and dig in!!
Sadly, we don’t have a lot of nice things to say about the chicken ravioli. The pasta was rubbery, the chicken was mushy and flavorless, and the sauce was gritty. Why, Italy?!
If you still want to, you can try this new ravioli dish for $13.
Finally, we arrive at the one returning food dish at this booth, the Bomboloni. This Bomboloni is a Cream-filled Italian Doughnut with Raspberry Sauce and Powdered Sugar. We actually had this item at the 2021 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts at the L’Arte di Mangiare booth.
This treat is essentially a smaller version of the Italian doughnuts you can get from Vivoli il Gelato! We love fried dough just as much as anyone else, but these treats were not our favorites when we had them at the Festival of the Arts.
They’re pretty basic and a bit lacking in the flavor department. If you are a MAJOR donut fan, then you might enjoy these, but truthfully you can find some better treats elsewhere. And with competition like Donut Box, it’s hard to keep up. If you want to try them, you can get these for $11.
They were sold out of the new Mezzelune Croccanti, but we will be trying it soon so stay tuned for updates!
Drinks
Next, we move onto the drinks. Keep in mind that all of these drinks are returning from previous festivals.
We’ll start with the sangrias. You can get 2 different sangrias at this booth — the Italian Red Sangria with Cabernet Sauvignon ($11)…
…and the Italian White Sangria with Prosecco ($11).
We’ve seen these at the Italy booth in the past as well as over at the Primavera Kitchen during EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival.
The White Sangria generally has a lot of fruit flavor without being too sweet. Although, we’ve found that it tastes like a pre-mixed cocktail with a bunch of fruit juices.
The red sangria was our favorite of the two thanks to its bolder flavors. It was sweet but still had a little dryness to it because of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit juices blended really well with the wine making each sip very satisfying!
At this booth, you’ll also find an Italian Margarita with Tequila and Limoncello for $11. This is an item we most recently spotted at the Primavera Kitchen booth for the 2021 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, but we also had it at the Italy booth at last year’s Food & Wine Festival.
This drink has been around for a while at EPCOT’s festivals and is one that has been a LONG time favorite of ours.
This drink is delightful and STRONG. It’s not too sweet and has a nice tartness from the splash of limoncello. If you’re looking for something cool and refreshing (and strong), this is a great pick! It’s always a big hit with us. You can get it for $11.
At the Italy booth this year you can also grab some Prosecco for $10. We recently had some Prosecco from the L’Arte di Mangiare booth at the 2021 EPCOT Festival of the Arts.
When we had this drink at the Festival of the Arts it was VERY dry. It can be a good choice for those who like dry alcoholic drinks. If you’re looking for something sweet, the sangria options are probably a better way to go.
At the Italy booth this year you can also grab some Pinot Grigio for $10, Chianti for $10, Rosa Regale for $11, Moscato for $11, and the Peroni Pilsner (6 oz for $6, 12 oz. for $10). These are items we’ve generally seen served at the Italy booth in the past.
Overall
Overall, we weren’t too impressed with the Italy booth…yet again. As our reporter said, “Italy continues to break my Italian heart.” And that’s it for us from Italy. While we’ve got a whole bunch of returning drinks and a returning dessert, this booth also has 2 new items you could pick up this year. But again, nothing was really a stand-out. Would you stop by to get them? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!
We’ll continue to make our way around EPCOT to check out all of the booths and let you know our thoughts. Stay tuned for more reviews!
