We have been keeping you posted on Tropical Storm Elsa as it works its way closer to Central Flordia. Today, more and more information has been coming out about the nature of the storm and its trajectory and we shared information regarding the tornado and flood watches for the Disney World area.

Disney World also canceled tonight’s showing of EPCOT Forever and modified Happily Ever After. Now, the storm has been upgraded to a hurricane once again. Below we have the latest developments for this storm.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Hurricane Elsa, expected to make landfall west of Orlando on the morning of Wednesday, July 7th, was recategorized as a Category 1 Hurricane after previously being downgraded to a Tropical Storm. As the storm continues to make its way up Florida’s western coast, Hurricane Elsa has reportedly sustained a wind speed of 75 miles per hour and is expected to hit west of Orlando with 90 mph winds by 2AM on Wednesday, July 7th.

Following the peak on Wednesday morning, the storm should begin to die down and pose less of a threat. However, heavy rains and potential flooding will be issues for those in the Orlando area during this time. Although Orlando and Disney World are not in the direct path of the hurricane, they can expect rain and strong winds as the storm passes through Central Florida.
