REVIEW: Did We Just Find The Best Shrimp and Grits in Disney World?

The Polite Pig in Disney Springs is a spot that serves up delicious barbecue and an excellent selection of drinks, including a wide array of Bourbons and Rye Whiskeys! In past years, restaurants at Disney Springs like Polite Pig have participated in the Disney Springs Flavors of Florida, an event featuring dishes that highlight ingredients from the Sunshine State!

The Polite Pig at Disney Springs

This year, Flavors of Florida is back at Disney Springs from July 6th to August 12th! So, of course, we tried everything Polite Pig was offering for this event! We tried a key lime pie donut, GATOR, and more in Disney Springs. And now, it’s time to explore the Polite Pig offerings!

Polite Pig’s drink offering for Flavors of Florida, the returning Bee’s Knees Cocktail for $11! This drink features Honey Gin, Orange Liqueur, Lemon Juice, and Bitters! The tartness of the lemon juice, the sweetness of the honey, and the bubbles from the soda water made this a fun and refreshing summer drink!

The Bee’s Knees!

For our meal, we got the also returning Shrimp and Grits with a Peach Habenero Glaze for $24! If you’re looking for a fun new take on a Southern classic, then this is the one for you! We really really loved this dish, it’s one of the better and more creative versions of shrimp and grits in Disney World!

The Shrimp and Grits!

The grits were simple and delicious. They were very buttery and creamy without any extra effort. They were perfectly seasoned with just salt and pepper — they were not cheesy; just buttery grits. The subtle and simple flavor of the grits really compliments the bold flavors of the shrimp!

The dish comes with 5 jumbo shrimp and the shrimp wasn’t rubbery or fishy at all. and the sweet and spicy flavor of the glaze was excellent, bringing lots of great heat to the dish.

Yum!!!

Polite Pig meals come with coleslaw, cornbread, and a marketplace side. In this case, the grits count as your side! So it might not be the most filling meal for the price. However, if you want a different side, you can swap out the grits for any of Polite Pig’s other Market Side offerings.

Cornbread and Slaw!

Overall, our reporter felt like this was the BEST Shrimp and Grits she had ever had…and she’s had a LOT of Shrimp and Grits. If you’re a lover of the seafood classic dish, you NEED to head to Polite Pig to check it out. If Shrimp and Grits aren’t your thing, we suggest try something else on this menu, you really can’t go wrong here! With Half Chicken, Pulled Pork, and Baby Back Ribs on the menu, there’s plenty to choose from! However, we think that the Bee’s Knees drink is worth trying regardless of if you like gin! It’s really delicious!
