REVIEW: Heavenly Cheese and Cough Syrup Beer? Don’t Skip This EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Booth!

Hello again from the 2021 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!

2021 Germany Booth

It’s opening day and so far, we’ve had the pleasure of trying dozens of spectacular food items. Now, we’re heading over to the  Germany Booth for some much-needed Apple Strudel in our lives!

Germany is re-joining the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival lineup today and we can’t wait for some classic German eats.

Let’s tackle this booth!

The lines are long, but it’s worth the wait, so we’re trying to be patient. (It’s just so hard when we’re excited about CHEESE!)

Menu

We are excited to say that the 2021 Germany menu features the return of the Schinkennudeln and Apple Strudel! (Cheese and vanilla sauce? What more could we want?!)

2021 Germany Menu

Grab a beer and let’s dig in!

Food

We started with the Schinkennudeln for $4.50, which is Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions, and Cheese. This dish is part of the cheese crawl, Emile’s Fromage Montage! This is a dish that we hardly ever regret getting — seriously, what could go wrong with pasta and cheese?!

Schinkennudeln

Today, it certainly didn’t disappoint! The cheese is incredibly creamy and blends well with the saltiness of the ham. The pasta is tender and our favorite part is the way that the edges get a little crispy. This one made us want to melt into a little puddle of cheese on the ground. (But we supposed that if we did that, we wouldn’t be able to get back in line and order it over and over again… .) And for $4.50, it’s seriously a steal.

We could eat this all day.

Next up on the menu is the Roast Bratwurst, served in a Pretzel Roll, for $5.75. This is a returning item that we’ve tried many times before. You can’t beat a classic brat!

And finally, you can round out your meal with the famous Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce, for $4.25. With a flaky crust and cinnamon-y flavors, the apple strudel is one of our favorite treats at Food and Wine!

You simply can’t go wrong with the eats here at the Germany booth…they’re crowd-pleasers all around!

Drinks

And Germany delivers the drinks! This year you can enjoy the return of the Selbach-Oster Riesling for $6 and the Weihenstephaner Lager from Freising for $5 for 6 ounces, or $9 for 12 ounces. And there are two NEW beers joining Germany’s menu!

The best way to try them all? In a flight, of course!

The Gaffel Kölsch from Cologne is new! It was $5 for 6 ounces or $9 for 12 ounces on its own. If you order it with the flight, the whole flight is $9.75. We found this beer to be really light, in fact, it reminded us a lot of a Heineken.

The Schöfferhofer Wild Cherry Hefeweizen from Mainz is another new drink for $5 for 6 ounces or $9 for 12 ounces if you purchase alone. It has a suuuper strong cherry flavor, and not much beer flavor. To be honest, it tasted a lot like medicine and we were not big fans. Our recommendation? Pass on this one unless you love the taste of cough syrup.

We tried the Weihenstephaner Lager from Freising in the flight just for fun, even though we’ve had it before. This one is also light, though not quite as much as the first.

It’s incredibly refreshing and just right for a day in Florida’s blistering heat!

All in all, the Germany booth is a must-visit! Nothing here is incredibly unusual (well, besides that cough syrup beer!), so you should be able to find things that any of your family or friends will enjoy. Like we said, it’s a crowd-pleaser!
