It’s 4th of July weekend at Disney World!
And lucky us — we got to celebrate with fireworks early this year when Happily Ever After and EPCOT Forever finally returned a few nights ago. And now, we’re munching on some 4th of July snacks, including a 4th of July Funnel Cake, a 4th of July Cupcake, and more!
But now it’s time to indulge in some fun drinks! So we headed over to one of our favorite Disney World pool bars, The Drop Off Pool Bar at Disney’s Art of Animation. And we discovered TWO new drinks there — the Watermelon Margarita and the Patriotic Colava.
The Watermelon Margarita is Patron Silver Tequila, Monin Watermelon Syrup, Sour Mix, and Fresh Lime Juice topped with a Fresh Slice of Watermelon. And although it has “Watermelon” in its name, we only tasted a hint of it.
And honestly, we didn’t find anything too unique about this drink, as it tasted more like a regular Margarita. We were asked if we wanted a Salt Rim by the Cast Member, too (so know that’s an option). It’s a yummy drink, but not anything special.
The Patriotic Colava is made with Bacardi Raspberry Rum blended with flavors of Coconut, Pineapple, and Raspberry Puree topped with a Floater of Bois Blue Curacao. And it looks VERY patriotic — it’s got a skewer with fruit on it PLUS a star and little gold streamers that look like sparklers!
We loved this one because it wasn’t too sugary and was a perfect combination of sweet and tart. And the raspberry flavor really comes through. This is what we might call the perfect summer drink for when it’s hot and sunny out (and, of course, just our luck, it’s not right now). It’s also an extremely photogenic drink!
However, when we started munching on the fruit on the skewer, we were in for a surprise because that star is NOT edible. We thought it could be sugar or something. Nope, it’s not. We thought it was a little odd that it would be thrown on to the skewer with edible things, but whatever you do, DON’T eat the star.
We’ve seen those little plastic swords in drinks (usually with fruit attached), but we’re not used to seeing little star-shaped pieces of wood in our drinks! If you want to try these drinks out for yourself, they’re available now for $14 each. And we’ll be trying out all the 4th of July snacks and drinks this weekend, so stay tuned for more reviews!
