REVIEW: This Underrated EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Booth Impresses Us Again

We are making our way through all the food and drinks at this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival!

Refreshment Outpost

And our next stop is Refreshment OutpostWe always like to stop by this booth during EVERY EPCOT festival, so we had to see what goodies it had in store for this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.

Menu

The festival food here this year is inspired by the flavors of Africa — we’ve got Spicy Githeri (basically a boiled corn and beans dish), along with a Hard Cider.

That seems like fall food, right? And well, it’s July in Florida, so let’s just say we’re not feeling the fall vibes just yet. But we’re still here to have a taste, so let’s get to it!

Eats

The Spicy Githeri with White Beans, Pigeon Peas, Ben’s Original Quinoa & Ancient Grains Medley, and Kachumbari Slaw (plant-based) is a returning dish — we used to find it at the Africa Booth. We’re going to say this is one of the most flavorful dishes we’ve had so far at the festival this year.

Githeri with cider

Our reporter is not a big fan of quinoa (mostly because of the texture) but still thought the flavor of the githeri was a stand-out. It does have a little bit of heat, but not TOO much. It’s $4.75.

Beverages

For its festival drink, Refreshment Outpost is serving up  3 Daughters Brewing Allspice Hard Cider for $9.75, which is the PERFECT drink for a fall day. Maybe not so much for a hot summer day, but we still liked the spiciness of the cider. And it’s one of those drinks that isn’t too sweet! Honestly, we wished we weren’t sweating so much so we could have enjoyed this even more! But the festival lasts through November, so we’ll come back for this when the weather cools off!

Refreshment Outpost is also a location where you can pick up the special EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Corkcicle Tumbler for $32.

Current Refreshment Outpost items are still available here, too, including a small selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, hot dogs, and Dole Whips (and considering there aren’t any Dole Whips being offered as festival items — at least it’s available here).

Overall

Although it does NOT feel like fall outside, we still loved the flavor of the Githeri and Cider, and we can’t wait to come back and try it again once cooler weather comes around. If you love fall flavors as much as we do, you’ll want to make sure Refreshment Outpost is on your EPCOT Food and Wine Festival list.

We’re still eating our way around the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, so be sure to check back often for more reviews!
