The 3 Most Unexpected Things That Happened in Disney World in June

If you know us, you know that Disney news is kinda our thing.

Magic Kingdom

And there has been some BIG Disney news this month. From SHOCKING entertainment news to surprising health measure changes, we’re taking a look at the three most UNEXPECTED things that happened in Disney World in June!

1. Fireworks Are BACK in Disney World!

This first one is something that we expected but we didn’t exactly know WHEN to expect it. But, yep, it’s true! Fireworks returned to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT on July 1st!

Happily Ever After

Disney announced that Happily Ever After will return to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Forever will return to EPCOT. Both shows will then be a regular fixture for a few months. This is especially interesting considering we didn’t know if EPCOT Forever would return at all considering the wild testing we’ve seen on the upcoming EPCOT show, Harmonious.

The crowds were quite large in Magic Kingdom on debut night!

2. TWO New Fireworks Shows Debuting for the 50th!

But, yes! Those two shows will only return for July through September because two NEW fireworks shows are set to debut on Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, October 1st.

Magic Kingdom will see the new Disney Enchantment show debut with projections that extend alllll the way down Main Street, U.S.A. WHAT!? A new Magic Kingdom show? We definitely did NOT see that coming. It feels like just yesterday that we were seeing Happily Ever After for the first time!

AND we also got the surprising news that Harmonious would open on October 1st too. Two new fireworks shows in one day!? That’s a shock!

3. MAJOR Changes to the Face Mask Policy.

Last month, Disney World changed mask policies to mean that fully vaccinated guests were not required to wear face masks in most outdoor areas of the parks. This month, they rolled back the policy even more.

The policy was changed in mid-June so that fully vaccinated guests do not need to wear masks in most locations — indoor or outdoor. The only spots that still require masks are on transportation excluding the ferry boat.

Masks no longer required

We certainly knew this roll-back was coming, but we weren’t sure when. That made for a big surprise!
