Disney+ and Star Wars are the perfect combo! From The Mandalorian to The Bad Batch, Disney+ has been home to some amazing and imaginative Star Wars series!
Recently, Lucasfilm gave us a first look at yet another Star Wars series that’s coming to Disney+ this fall!
Star Wars: Visions is Lucasfilm’s first foray into anime, the popular Japanese style of cartooning. Lucasfilm will be collaborating with seven studios: Kinema Citrus, Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio, Studio Colorido, Studio Trigger, Science Saru, and Production IG to create anime short films about the Star Wars universe!
In a special look from Lucasfilm, the directors of these new short films touched on their influences and inspirations! Taku Kimura from Studio Colorido noted that his short film, “Tatooine Rhapsody,” would be a rock opera-inspired tale! Meanwhile, Hitoshi Haga from Kinema Citrus, director of “The Village Bride,” noted Japanese mountain culture as his primary influence. From Astro-Boy to period dramas, a wide range of genres, influences, and styles are going to be covered in this anthology.
At Anime Expo Lite, Lucasfilm’s Jacqui Lopez (Executive Producer), James Waugh (Executive Producer), Josh Rimes (Executive Producer), and Qubic Pictures’ Justin Leach (Co-Executive Producer) and Kanako Shirasaki (Producer) revealed a first look at the new anthology series!
All of the short films from Star Wars: Visions will be released on September 22nd on Disney+! Want to know more? Take a look at a special look video here!
