The Grand Floridian Resort in Disney World is a Deluxe Resort that has an upscale, yet classic, look to it, a variety of great dining options, and both monorail and walking access to Magic Kingdom.

If you’ve never stayed at the Grand Floridian, you may be wondering what the rooms there look like. We recently stayed at the Grand Floridian and wanted to share a full look at one of the rooms there to give you an idea of what you’ll find in the rooms, how big they are, and other features there.

During our stay at the Grand Floridian, we stayed in a standard room at Sugarloaf Key. This is one of the outer buildings at the Grand Floridian, located close to the main, central building. This is typically a room with access to club-level amenities. Note that Disney’s Club-Level lounges and amenities will be returning soon to select hotels in various stages.

Once you walk into the Sugarloaf Key building, you’ll encounter a beautiful front area with a mirror, some furniture, and more.

Then, you’ll be met by a center, lobby-type area. This is what typically would be the Club-Level Lounge.

Once you’ve made your way past this center area, you can go to your room. In our case, we took the elevator up to get to our spot.

We utilized the digital room key feature on the My Disney Experience app to open the door to our room, and we were off!

When you first walk into the room, this is your general view. The main bedroom space is ahead, there is a closet to the left, and the bathroom is located to the right.

Here’s a look back at the door.

As we mentioned, there is a closet right at the front of the room.

Inside the closet, you’ll find an extra pillow/blanket, some hangers, robes…

…a safe and hair blow dryer, and a place to put your luggage. It’s actually a pretty spacious closet.

Next, we’ll head into the bathroom.

The bathroom was pretty standard with two sinks, a large mirror as well as a smaller mirror attached to the wall, towels…

…tissues…

…and that signature, complimentary Disney H2O body lotion, conditioner, and more.

There was also an H2O+ fascial soap in the center area…

…which has the word “Disney” on it. If you’re seriously missing that H2O Disney soap, you can actually purchase the Disney-specific items online or you can look for general H2O products (not specifically Disney-branded) online as well.

In the main bathroom space, there’s also a fun piece of artwork themed to Alice in Wonderland. It was great to see some unique artwork throughout the entire room (we’ll give you a look at some of the other pieces in a second!).

Continuing on with the bathroom, there was also a pretty decently sized shower/tub.

Inside the shower, there was more of that signature Disney soap…

…shampoo, conditioner, and more.

The shower/tub area also had a toilet next to it. And there was more bathroom paper and more towels in an area above the toilet.

There was also a conservation message up about reusing your towels. As the sign notes, if you hang up your towels, you’re indicating you’d like to reuse them. Towels that are left on the tub or floor will be replaced during the cleaning service. Note that housekeeping schedules are slightly modified due to COVID-19.

The toilet and shower were near the sink, but did have a separate door so you could close that door for more privacy and to enable multiple family members to potentially get ready at the same time.

Next, it’s time to head into the main room space.

The room we stayed in featured two beds.

The beds were covered in a very minimalistic bedspread, and each featured 4 pillows.

There was a nightstand between the two beds which featured 2 USB ports, a space to plug in a regular charger, a telephone, a clock, and a controller for the TV.

Speaking of TVs, there is a TV on the opposite side of the room, across from the beds. There is also a small storage space with drawers for you to place all of your belongings.

If you open the main area of the storage unit/dresser, you’ll find a mini-fridge inside.

On the dresser, we found details regarding the enhanced cleaning Disney is currently doing for its hotels. Before a guest’s arrival, every room is given an enhanced cleaning which includes a focus on many high-touch areas like door handles, light switches, and more.

On the dresser, we also found a “Your Take-Along Guide to the Magic” document with information about the Disney parks and more, as well as the In-Room Dining (a.k.a. room service) menu.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently listed on the Disney website as the only Disney World hotel offering in-room dining, though it was previously offered at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort as well. If you’ll be visiting Disney World, be sure to ask whether the hotel you’re staying at will be offering in-room dining, as things are constantly changing.

There were a number of options available for in-room dining including anytime cocktails, breakfast items, dinner items for kids…

…dinner items for adults, desserts…

…and various drinks. We actually ordered room service for dinner one of the nights during our stay and will be bringing you a full review of that soon, so stay tuned!

Let’s get on to the rest of the room. Next to the dresser, there is a sofa bed.

The sofa does pull down into a bed which can be used for another member of your party, making it convenient to fit another guest in your room if you’re traveling in a larger group.

Across from the sofa bed is a coffee station that could also serve as a vanity. There was a small desk, lamp…

…a Keurig machine, coffee essentials like the coffee itself, sugar, and creamer, some cups, and an ice bucket.

In terms of the decor in the room, it was fairly minimal but had touches of the Victorian aesthetic of the Grand Floridian. There was a decorative piece above the couch with those lights and a mirror…

…a beautiful painting near one of the beds…

…and a gorgeous light fixture near the very front of the room (by the door). Truly, stepping into the space and seeing this light fixture with all of those clear crystal-like details was one of the things that made it really feel like we were staying at the Grand Floridian. It gives the room just that touch of refinement and elegance.

But, one of our favorite details was actually over at the curtains near the balcony space!

Within the sheer curtain layer we spotted a certain, familiar friend. It’s a tiny Hidden Mickey!

The balcony itself had two chairs and a small table between them.

You can kick back and relax here after a long day.

Plus, the view was pretty nice! We were overlooking part of the resort area and part of the waterway. We couldn’t see the fireworks from our room, but we could hear them, which was fun!

Once you’re done relaxing outside, you can come in, lock that balcony door, and rest in the room.

In terms of other features, here’s a peek at the spot where you can adjust the temperature in the room…

…a closer look at the wallpaper you’ll find in the entryway…

…and a closer look at the carpet design. Again, these all played well into the elegant, Victorian style of the room and the hotel overall.

Overall, the room felt pretty spacious, had some nice design touches (especially with things like the light fixture in the front), and had a lovely balcony. The building itself (Sugarloaf Key) is also very close to the main building at the Grand Floridian which made walking to/from the center lobby, and over toward the bus stop, very convenient and easy. It also wasn’t too far from the start of the walkway to Magic Kingdom, which was nice.

But, staying at the Grand Floridian is typically VERY expensive. The rooms there are often some of the most expensive on property. It can be a tremendous splurge. Also, our room did not feature a fireworks view, so that’s something to consider when booking a spot at the Grand.

Don’t forget that by staying at any Disney World Deluxe Resort (which includes the Grand Floridian) or Deluxe Villa, you’ll be able to get Extended Evening Hours at the parks on select dates starting in early October.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort also has a lot to offer in the food department with various restaurants open for guests to enjoy, including the recently reopened Citricos which has a new Mary Poppins Returns-inspired look.
