REVIEW: Now We Have One More Big Reason to Love Barefoot Pool Bar in Disney World (Hint: FOOD!)

Aloha from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian Resort is home to a ton of delicious eats and treats, like the Pork Dumplings and Noodles at ‘Ohana and the famous Dole Whip served at Pineapple Lanai! Recently, the Barefood Pool Bar, located right beside the main Volcano pool at the Polynesian, started serving food! With so many incredible options already available, is this little spot worth a visit?

Atmosphere

There’s still some construction work being done in the Polynesian Resort, but the pool area is very open! We were hungry, though, so we headed right to the Barefoot Pool Bar!

Who needs shoes?!

This little bar offers mobile ordering, so we picked a table and scanned the code!

Once our to-go order was ready, we were ready to eat! It arrived in this paper bag, and came with napkins and utensils!

To-Go Bag

It’s a good thing we brought our appetite — there’s a lot of food to cover here!

Eats

You may remember that the Barefoot Pool Bar has already been open, but only served drinks. Now, it is serving food again! The food options come from the Oasis Bar & Grill kitchen (the OTHER pool bar at the Poly!). The menu is actually largely the same!

The prices are pretty much in line with the rest of the pool bars around the Disney World resorts.

You can’t have a pool bar without a good-sized drink menu, and the Barefoot Pool Bar does not disappoint! There are lots of specialty cocktails to choose from…

…as well as non-alcoholic drinks!

There’s also a pretty big selection of beers to choose from that range in price from $7.50 to $10.75!

For those of you that prefer wine, there are several options ranging from an $11 Moscato to a $16 Pinot Noir!

We ordered The Voyager, which is made with Parrot Bay coconut rum blended with cream of coconut and pineapple juice, layered with pineapple Dole Whip and blue curaçao for $14.75! This is currently not on the menu on the website, but a specialty drink that gets featured frequently. We have an extra fond place in our heart for this little drink that could because we helped create it!!

The Voyager

What can we say, we love this drink. It’s still the boozy Kakamora Float of our dreamsssss. Get this drink if you plan on chilling poolside for a bit. You will not regret it. It’s summer in a cup…with booze.

YUM!

We also decided to try a secret menu item called the Samoa Sunrise  (oooh). Doesn’t it look refreshing?!

Secret Menu drink!!

This frozen sip is made with Dark Rum, Apricot Brandy, and POG Juice, with a floater on top of 151 Rum. This guy will cost you $13. If you love a nice cold glass of POG Juice as much as we do, you want to get this immediately. It’s a POG slushy for adults. YUM.

Now, let’s get to the most exciting part: THE FOOD! Here’s the full spread in all its glory.

There’s a lot to unpack here!

First up, we ordered the Black Pepper Parmesan Chicken Wings, which are tossed in Fresh Garden Herb Dressing.

Ohhh…wings!!

These wings were nice and peppery, and the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top was so good. Don’t let the herb dressing fool you — they weren’t greasy at all! These were pleasantly crunchy even after sitting in the box for a few minutes. We’ve had these before over at Oasis Bar and Grill and loved them then as well (this batch seemed crispier fried to us, which was a good thing!). We would definitely order these again! You can try them yourself for $10.99!

So good!!

Next up were the Fried Wonton Chips, which were available for only $4.49! Talk about a bargain snack!

Fried Wonton Chips

These Crunchy Wonton Chips were served with Spicy Duck Sauce, and came loaded with seasoned salt! OMG we love a good wonton chip so to get a WHOLE BOWL of them to snack on is a GOOD thing. If you’re not in the mood for a little heat, you can eat the chips plain. We liked them with the sauce — it had just enough heat! They had a great flavor by themselves, but we also enjoyed them with the sauce!

Take a dip!

Over on the kid’s side of town, we ordered the Kids’ Cheeseburger for $7.69. As expected, it was pretty much just a typical theme park cheeseburger that you could find in the parks and resorts. That being said, it still tasted quite good, and it’s a great option for picky eaters or kids!

Kids Cheeseburger

Finally, we finished off with the Grilled Chicken Avocado Wrap for $10.99. You guys, this wrap was delicious. It comes with grilled chicken, sliced avocado, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, edamame seeds, and garlic ranch dressing. The wrap is served with coleslaw or French fries (we got the fries!).

So fresh!

This fresh wrap is made with sliced, thick, juicy pieces of chicken breast meat. It was light and fresh, the veggies gave some great crunch and texture. We thought that the garlic ranch dressing added a creaminess that brought all the flavors nicely together. As you can see from the pictures, this was a BIG portion — there’s easily enough to share!

Wrap it up…

We were extremely happy with all the things that we tried at the Barefoot Pool Bar!

Nosh or Not

Swim-up to the Barefoot Pool Bar if…

  • You’re staying at (or near) the Polynesian Village Resort.
  • You want some quick and casual options with a bit of flare. Most of these foods and drinks are unique to the pool bars here, so it’s a chance to try something unique to the location.
  • You heart a good boat drink. The bartenders here are SO much fun and so great at what they do. The drinks are top-notch and not all your average “Disney bar menu” drinks (though they have those too!).
  • You love the energy of dining al fresco by a pool.

Just keep swimming…somewhere else if…

  • You’re not in the vicinity of the Poly, it’s tasty but no need to make a special trip for these options.
  • You’re looking to escape the heat and find some air conditioning, perhaps nearby Capt. Cook’s is more what you’re after.
  • You want a nice sit-down meal. This, that is not. This is pool grub done pretty well.

Overall

Everything we ordered was so fresh and different compared to the typical pool bar foods. Like the rest of the resort, everything had a fun Polynesian flair! While the food menu isn’t quite as large as a full sit-down spot might be, there are so many great options to choose from at the Barefoot Pool Bar! Bonus points that the prices are not bad at all (you can bet we’re going back for more $4 Wonton Chips!).

Next time you’re at the Polynesian Resort and are looking for a quick little snack to munch on by the pool, we totally recommend checking this pool bar out! What’s kind of nice too is you basically have two pool bar options with the same food! We’re partial to Barefoot over Oasis Bar and Grill, but both serve up the same great food and lots of great drinks. Swing by next time you’re in the area for a drink and a bite or two!
