Torched Bacon and Aerial Performers? We Attended a Masquerade Ball in Disney Springs!

Life at Disney World can sometimes seem like a fairy tale, but did you know there is an annual Masquerade Ball at Disney Springs that you can attend?

Masquerade Ball! ©The Edison

Last year, The Edison at Disney Springs hosted a Masquerade Ball and we were lucky enough to attend. This year we got the chance to make another grand entrance, and you know we had to do it!

The Masquerade Ball at The Edison is a ticketed event that offers appetizers, exclusive cocktails, and themed entertainment. Mom and Dad, you will want to leave the kiddos at the hotel because this one is only for guests 21 & up.

Atmosphere

This event started at 7:30PM to 11:30PM and the rest of the restaurant was closed. The entire restaurant was dedicated to our exclusive ball!

The red carpet treatment!

Don’t forget your masks! One for your face and one for your mouth! Both types of masks were required for this event.

Check-in for the Masquerade Ball

The theming started before you even walked in!

Once we got checked in and we were inside we were greeted with a glass of champagne. What better way to start this soiree!

Champagne for everyone!

With a drink in hand, we made our way upstairs to our table. There was a good amount of space upstairs, but there were also multiple rooms providing additional seating. They also offered bar seating and tables on the dance floor.

We got to sit upstairs!

Before we knew it, the REAL show had started. The entertainment and theming for this event are what made it stand out! Wet got to see a live band…

The music was amazing

...aerial dancers

…and servers dressed to the nines!

Greeted with Champagne!

The atmosphere was lively and fun — now it’s time to talk food and drinks!

Cocktails

Similar to the event last year, the Masquerade Ball featured a cocktail menu with drinks exclusive to the night!

Specialty Cocktails are exclusive to the event!

We started off with the Clever Disguise. Appropriately named, if we do say so. This drink has Grey Goose Vodka, Cointreau, Pomegranate Juice, Lime Juice, and Simple Syrup. This drink is very sweet and fruity but still good! If you aren’t a big fan of the taste of alcohol, this is a good drink for you.

The Clever Disguise

The next drink up is the, A Dame’ll Sting Ya. It contained Sipsmith VJOP Gin, King’s Ginger Liqueur, Honey, Lemon Juice, and Cranberry Juice. This drink is a little more tart than the other.  Don’t worry, those of you that like sweet drinks, you will still love this one.

A Dame’ll Sting Ya

Last, but certainly not least, is our favorite drink from the night, Into the Woods. This drink featured Woodford Bourbon, Black Walnut Bitters, Chocolate Bitters, and Cinnamon Cordial.

This one was very easy to drink and reminded us of an old-fashioned with chocolate undertones. It was super easy to drink, and we think you’ll like it if you enjoy an old fashioned!

Eats

Servers were walking around with spiced shrimp on skewers and sliders. Unfortunately, we did not get to try the sliders due to them running out, but overheard that they were delicious! The shrimp were very good, but did have a kick to them! The food did get cold quickly and moved very quickly, so that’s something to keep in mind.

The spiced shrimp were delicious!

The next wave of food came complete with a variety of kabobs on skewers and BACON! That’s right the famous Edison Clothesline Candied Bacon

Perfection

What’s not to love?!

The bacon was DELICIOUS and they even had someone at the table torching the bacon as we watched. The skewers were next and they had four to choose from.

Something for everyone

The first skewer consisted of chicken, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The chicken was seasoned perfectly in our opinion and we loved this mix of flavors.

Chicken Kabob

Next up was the steak! It consisted of the same vegetables but had steak instead of chicken. This was also very good and cooked perfectly.

Steak Kabob

The third skewer we tried was our favorite of the night. Keeping with the trend, it included all of the same vegetables but the meat on this one was swordfish!

The final option was for our vegetarian friends or those that just prefer to not eat meat. There was a vegetable kabob that substituted zucchini for meat and was equally as good.

Vegetable Kabob

All four of these kabobs were delicious and PACKED with flavor, however, the swordfish was the standout for the night.

Kabobs and bacon, does it get any better?

The main course was next! Instead of it being served to us, they put the food at buffet-style tables for everyone to go get their own food. The items included biscuits, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and sirloin that was sliced right in front of you.

The Main Dish!

This was a different experience compared to last year. Last year, they only served passed hors d’oeuvres for a very tapas-styled approach. All of the items were very good, but nothing stood out other than the sirloin. It practically melted in our mouths! Now onto dessert!

Three different desserts! Yes, please!

We started off trying the Strawberry Shortcake Trifle. This was very good and was actually our favorite dessert of the night!

Strawberry Shortcake Trifle

We had another trifle on deck with the Chocolate Mousse Trifle and this one was equally delicious!

The last dessert of the night was the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake. This one had our hopes up, but ended up falling a little flat. Nothing special stood out and it was pretty plain.

Dulce De Leche Cheesecake

Similar to last year, there was a good variety of food. There is something for everyone with different kinds of desserts and vegetarian options!

Overall

At a high price tag of $150 per person, we can see why the average person may think twice. For reference, tickets cost $65 last year for this event. The theming, atmosphere and entertainment REALLY set this event apart. The food and drinks were good, but nothing you need to go out of your way for.

The Edison

This event is catered towards those that are ready to dress up, get into character and fulfill a lifelong dream of attending their very own Masquerade Ball. We haven’t been to anything else like this in Disney World, and there is something to be said about that. At the end of the day, can you really be disappointed when there is bacon involved?!
