Wait, We Can Do *What* In Disney World??

Disney World’s more than just riding Space Mountain and eating copious amounts of Dole Whip. (Don’t tell us to *shush*. It’s TRUE.)

Dole Whip!

In fact, it’s SO true that we’ve created an ENTIRE LIST of all the things you probably didn’t realize you could do in Disney World. (And if you DID know these things, well…then you need to share them with your friends who are riding Space Mountain for the thousandth time in a row! Variety is the spice of life so vary it up!!)

Without further ado, here are 16 random things you can totally do on Disney World property:

Tie-Dye at Disney Resorts

Many Disney Resorts let you get funky-fresh with afternoon tie-dyeing activities!

Tie-Dye Activity at Art of Animation Resort back in 2019

Guests of all ages can make their own tie-dye Mickey shirt for around $17 plus tax.

Wilderness Lodge Mickey Tie Dye Tee

The last time we saw tie-dyeing taking place at a Disney resort was over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, but numerous other resorts have it, too!

Your next stay at Wilderness Lodge will look a little different. Find out why HERE!

Movies Under The Stars

Disney Resorts love playing popular Disney animated movies in the evenings.

Movies at Fort Wilderness

Sometimes, the movies will play near the pool so you can swim and watch a classic Disney film. Other times, they’ll play on oversized projectors somewhere out on one of the many lawns.

BoardWalk Schedule

The resort you’re staying at should have a movie schedule available so you can know when and where the movie will take place (as well as what movie will be playing)! But you can always ask a Cast Member if you need more guidance — they’ll be happy to help!

Check out our Disney movies throw down HERE!

Yoga

Need to stretch and relax before a busy day in the parks? Select Disney resorts offer early morning yoga sessions!

Rise & Shine Yoga

These yoga sessions will happen on select days at the resort, so ask a cast member for the schedule ahead of time so you don’t accidentally miss it! Space is limited, so arrive a bit before the exact time to secure your spot. Mats and towels will be provided.

Rent A Canoe Or Kayak

Over at Fort Wilderness Resort, you can explore the great outdoors by land…or by water!

You can rent a canoe or kayak for $13 per hour between 9AM – 5PM (though these hours are subject to change).

Fort Wilderness activities!

If this is something you want to prioritize on your next Disney World vacation, make sure to get there earlier in the day instead of later on — these rentals are first-come, first-served.

Complimentary Campfires

Do you know what else the resorts love to do? Disney Resorts love CAMPFIRE parties!

Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Campfire and S’mores

You and your travel party can gather ’round swapping stories from the day or toasting some s’mores!

Someday we’ll come back for you!

Our favorite campfire location is at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. They don’t just have a campfire — they have Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long! Currently, this experience is unavailable, but we hope to see it back at Fort Wilderness soon! We miss our nutty chipmunk pals… . Many resorts have a fire pit they’ll light up in the evenings for guests to enjoy. S’mores goodies are usually available for purchase! Again, check that activities calendar at your resort.

Search For Pascal

Peek-a-boo! We see you, Pascal!

Pascal Hunt

You can search for hidden Pascals around the Tangled rest area in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland. (That’s right — Rapunzel’s place isn’t just for potty breaks!)

He is SO Good at Hiding

There are 10 Pascals total around the area — can you find them all?

Play Miniature Golf

Fore!! You ready for a ‘rousing round of mini-golf?

Fantasia Gardens

There are two mini-golf courses on Disney Property — Winter Summerland Miniature Golf is near Blizzard Beach and gives you the option of golfing on a Summer-themed or Winter-themed course. Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf is near Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts and celebrates the music and characters of Disney’s classic animated film, Fantasia

Winter Summerland Mini Golf

A round of golf is $14 per adult, $12 per kid. Not a shabby way to spend the afternoon!

Sketch Disney Characters Like The Pros

Next time you’re in the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, take the Wildlife Express Train over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. There, you’ll be able to pet animals at the Affection Section AND learn how to draw a popular Disney animal at the Animation Experience.

Showtimes for The Animation Experience

The Animation Experience at the Conservation Station is a 20-30 minute drawing class where you’ll be taught how to draw one of the animals from the Disney movies in a step-by-step class led by a pro sketch artist.

Animation Experience

These sketch classes are offered at a few of the resorts, too! (Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, for instance!) Ask the front desk of the resort you’re staying at and see if classes will be scheduled during the time of your stay.

Hack Into Technology

Have you downloaded the Play Disney Parks Mobile App yet? If you haven’t, DO IT NOW! (Sorry, that was intense. *Please* do it now.)

The Play Disney App helps you pass the time in Disney’s longer queue lines, providing games and trivia questions to keep you and your travel party entertained. (Plus, you can earn little virtual rewards for completing them!)

Use your Play Disney Parks Datapad to translate your card from Savi’s Workshop!

But the BEST place to use this Play Disney App is in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The app will transform in a “datapad” that has SEVERAL different functions you can use around this area. If you see any QR codes hiding around Batuu, make sure to scan them on your datapad.

Sometimes, you’ll be able to “hack” into droids, panels, and other Batuu tech. (You little rebel, you.) Other times, you can collect cargo. (Those QR codes will be located on crates.)

You can even scan any galactic languages you’re not familiar with (AKA: The Aurebesh language used around Batuu) to translate it! Nifty, right? Give this translating a try on the text below the Dianoga alien near the water fountains.

Try Sodas From Around The World

Yes, we know Club Cool isn’t back at EPCOT (yet!!!), but taste-testing sodas from all over the globe is still something you can do at the Coca-Cola store in Disney Springs

Coca-Cola Store

Go to the top floor (AKA: The Rooftop Beverage Bar) and order the International Tray.

International Tray Two

You’ll receive 16 drinks samples for $8, including (but not limited to) flavors from Europe, Asia, Africa, and many others! (Including everyone’s favorite…BEVERLY.)

Check out our review of the Simply Razzle Dazzle drink at the Coca-Cola Store HERE!

Kidcot Fun Stop!

Typically, Disney guests refer to EPCOT as the more adult-centered theme park — especially when it comes to World Showcase. Though more recognizable animated characters have been (or are currently being) added to the attractions in the different pavilions to appeal to children and adults alike, the World Showcase is still mostly shopping, tasting unique foods, and (for some) Drinking Around the World. Which can get a little dull for some kiddos preeeeetty fast.

Kidcot Fun Stop Bag

To keep kids engaged with all the World Showcase has to offer, there are Kidcot Fun Stop stations located in each of the 11 pavilions.

Kidcot Fun Stop

Kids can pick up a take-out activity baggie that contains fun facts and coloring cards. If you collect them all, return to and Kidcot location and receive a special postcard from Mickey Mouse! The best part about this activity? It’s totally free!

Paint By Number On A HUGE Scale

Here’s another activity you can do in EPCOT — but this one’s only available during the International Festival of the Arts (in January and February).

Let’s get to work!

You can be part of a giant collaborative paint-by-number mural! Just select a color at the paint-by-number booth (which has previously been located between Future World and the World Showcase.). Your paint container will tell you what numbers you need to paint. Just make sure you’re not painting more squares than a cast member tells you to paint! You want to make sure other guests have a chance to paint, too!

Ta-da!

On busier park days, you’ll be asked to paint fewer squares (maybe around 4-5), and on slower park days, you’ll be asked to paint more (maybe up to 7-8). Either way, after you’ve finished painting your squares, you’ll receive a bookmark or postcard of what the mural will look like when it’s all finished.

Take A FREE Christmas Tree Tour

But what’s something unique you can do on Disney World property outside the parks? How about taking a free Christmas Tree Stroll around Disney Springs??

Christmas Tree Stroll Map

During this event, several Christmas trees are placed around the Disney Springs Marketplace (or scattered throughout the shopping district, in general). Each tree is decorated to fit a Disney character OR Disney World attraction.

Princess and the Frog Tree

And it’s coming back this year, y’all! So get your cameras ready!

Put Your Face On An M&M

Admit it. You DREAM about seeing your face plastered on an M&M. The idea of having our image etched into chocolate is pretty close to having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Let’s go get some chocolate!

Even if you don’t (which, why *wouldn’t* you??), you can totally live the dream and customize your own M&M’S at Disney Spring’s M&M’S Store.

Can’t wait to see how these turn out!

Prices range from $20-$45, depending on how many M&M’S you’re looking to buy with your face. (Or anyone else’s face, for that matter. The power is in YOUR hands.)

Customizing your own M&Ms isn’t ALWAYS available…Click HERE to see what we mean… .

Skip The Checkout Lines

With the My Disney Experience App, you no longer have to wait in line to purchase items!

What a time-saver!

Select Disney World gift shops (such as the World of Disney store located at Disney Springs or MouseGear over at EPCOT) will allow you to use Mobile Checkout instead of waiting in line to check out. That means you can purchase your Disney pins (or whatever other item you’ve been eyeballing your entire trip) with the few taps of your phone and — wah-lah — your purchase has been made! All you’ve got to do now is show your confirmation code to a cast member at the exit.

Everything POP Mobile Checkout

Overwhelmed? No worries — We’ve got a breakdown of how the system works, so make sure to check it out! This is SUCH a fast, efficient process. We were able to breeze in and out of a giftshop in no time at all with our purchases!

Scavenger Hunts With Dory

Scavenger hunts are pretty popular around Disney World! From finding Pascal in Fantasyland to locating different characters during the EPCOT festivals, scavenger hunts are a fun way to get travel parties working together and exploring details of the parks they might’ve normally skipped over.

Dory’s Scavenger Hunt!

Finding Dory’s Friends: A Fin-Tastic Scavenger Hunt is one of the newest scavenger hunts in Disney World. You can find the FREE booklets in the main room of the SeaBase area. (Psst — that’s the aquarium you see after riding The Seas With Nemo And Friends!)

STICKERS!!!

This booklet has plenty of riddles and puzzles to solve while scouting out Dory’s different friends around the aquarium. Plus, it’s got STICKERS.

So, did you know all of these? If so, hooray! Now go out and share this wealth of knowledge with your Disney-loving friends!
