4 Things You FORGOT Were Coming to Disney World’s New ‘Star Wars’ Hotel

The new Star Wars hotel, located right in Hollywood Studios’ backyard, is shaping up to be Walt Disney World’s most immersive experience ever.

And Disney has been giving us a BUNCH of details over the past several months! We know when it’s going to open (roughly), what some of the food will look like, what the itinerary might include, and got more information about pricing. We’re getting really excite about this galactic adventure, and with all of the information we’ve gotten so far, we wanted to make sure nothing gets left behind! So, we compiled a list of 4 things you forgot were coming to the Star Wars Galatic Starcruiser.

One thing we know for sure is that the Galactic Starcruiser is not your typical Disney hotel. You won’t see any “normal” Cast Members once you step on board the ship, and you probably won’t see any sunlight (since you’re in space). But, besides the obvious, here are some things you should know about this wildly elaborate new hotel.

1. The experience takes place over a 2-night excursion

That’s right — no 7 day stays here, people. Guests will collectively check-in and check-out after 2 nights and make only one stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, it’s more similar to a cruise than a normal hotel experience. As far as we know, you cannot book a longer trip here — everyone will experience the same length of stay! There is a schedule for your meals and your excursion to Galaxy’s Edge, with designated times for experiences.

You can check out a sample itinerary here.

And, you can keep your safari hats and Cinderella dresses at home for this one, because this ship doesn’t travel to foreign lands like the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. That’s why you might need to add this experience to your Disney trip rather than only go to Disney for this experience. You don’t have to, of course, but as of writing, it seems like visiting the other theme parks won’t be part of the experience while you’re staying here — remember, you have an itinerary!

As we mentioned, you will travel to  Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. This will subsequently give you a park ticket and pass into Hollywood Studios, but we believe you will only have a limited time in the park thanks to that itinerary! Your excursion into Galaxy’s Edge will include a ride on Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run as well as a meal at Docking Bay 7.

If all of that doesn’t excite you, maybe a fancy new lightsaber will!

2. You can train with a lightsaber

That’s right, Star Wars fans! You will get to train with a lightsaber, just like Luke Skywalker! Channel your inner Jedi or Sith Lord during this immersive and interactive training experience. But, guests must be at least 7-years-old to participate — so there are no young Padawans allowed (but make sure they don’t go near Anakin, either).

Disney Parks revealed a super realistic-looking new lightsaber back on May 4th (of course) that had a lot of us geeking out! It looks like a powerful weapon that will require some serious training, but we don’t know yet if this is the exact kind of lightsaber that will be used in the training experience.

We could watch this video 1000 times…that lightsaber is REAL!! Not only that, but Disney announced that guests traveling on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be among the first to see the new lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development. How cool!!

If you would rather relax and hang out, maybe you’ll enjoy The Sublight Lounge that will be on the ship.

3. Guests of all ages can relax at the lounge

We can’t wait to see the menu for this futuristic-looking lounge! And did you catch that? Kids are invited to the Sublight Lounge, too.

You will even be able to play a game of Sabacc in the lounge! Don’t know how to play? No problem! According to the sample itinerary, Sabacc lessons will be available during your journey. This is good, because there is also expected to be a Sabacc tournament! Sounds a little bit like a night in Las Vegas, right?!

And, you never know who you might run into during your journey on the Starcruiser, and as you may have gathered from the pictures, it looks like guests will be traveling with quite the cast of intergalactic beings!

4. You’ll be on board with Kylo Ren, Rey, and other galactic crew members

Earlier this year, we noticed that Disney was hiring actors for roles on the ship such as a captain, ship mechanic, cruise director, and a fixer — it sounds like they will be a hearty group!

But that’s not all! Thanks to some detective work, we found out that Disney was also looking for “actors with prior experience or knowledge in stage combat, Wushu, martial arts or hand-to-hand,” to play both Kylo Ren and Rey! Does this mean a battle scene is coming? We think so! AH, what we would give to see a recreation of the throne room scene from The Last Jedi!

Wouldn’t want to be on his bad side!

We also know that a special dining experience will be offered during dinner where you can actually eat with the captain of the ship (for a price, of course)! According to these renderings, it looks like you might be joined by some other beings as well.
