Ads Could Come to Disney+ in the Future, According to Disney’s CEO

Disney+ took the streaming world by storm when it launched back in November of 2019.

Since then, we have seen the premiere of major blockbuster movies as well as critically acclaimed original series, like The Mandalorian. The service has been able to provide quality content for a decent price ($7.99 a month) without any ads in the middle of your favorite shows or movies. But, it may not stay that way forever.

Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek was at the Goldman Sachs 30th Annual Communacopia Conference today, where he spoke about many things, including the future of advertising on Disney+.

Chapek said that advertising would look very different on Disney+ than it would on Hulu because of the child focused audience.

He then went on to say that right now, they are keeping things the way they are (with no ads), but that it’s a possibility that advertising on Disney+ may change in the future — they might look at different advertising opportunities across their platforms.

We heard Chapek speak a little on advertising on the streaming service back in June during a virtual Q&A session at the Credit Suisse Annual Communications Conference. The Disney CEO said they had no plans right now to have advertising-supported entry on Disney+, but they won’t limit themselves to say no to anything.
