Disney World Is Seeing a COLD FRONT Ahead of the 50th Anniversary

Are you ready for a whole new month in Disney World?

Cinderella Castle

We sure hope so, because it’s coming! If you’re kicking off October in the Most Magical Place on Earth, you might want to know what kind of weather you can expect. Don’t worry, we’re here to help! This is a FULL update on the weather in Disney World next week AND how to prep for the forecast.

Weather Forecast

According to The Weather Channel, this week is going to bring us some warm days and some rainy afternoons. But, there’s a PLOT TWIST. Per Orlando Sentinel, we’ll see a dip in temperatures at the beginning of next week.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Dry air heading into the state will mean a little bit less heat and fewer rain showers. Yup, a cold front is coming to Florida! Now, cold fronts might be a little more drastic where you’re from, but a drop into the mid-80s is pretty significant here in Orlando. It certainly might feel a bit cooler than last week!

September 27th

Monday, September 27th will start the week with temperatures that are pretty close to what we’ve been seeing. Keep in mind, you won’t be contending with any 90 degree+ temperatures this week with these predictions! That day will max out at an 89-degree high and we’ll see 68 degrees at night.

Whew! A low in the 60s! That certainly is a sign that fall is here. You might think that 68 degrees sounds pretty comfy, but you might be surprised by how chilly a breezy high 60s evening can feel when you’ve been in the heat all day. Consider snagging a light layer when you head out to the park if you tend to get cold.

September 28th

The next day, September 28th brings us a similar forecast with a high of 88 degrees during the day and keeping that low down at a comfortable 68 degrees.

Have you noticed anything different from the recent weeks? Look at that low rain chance! The cold front isn’t just knocking those temperatures down, it also means we’re looking at sunny days.

September 29th

On Wednesday, September 29th, we’re going to see temps sit in about the same place again. So, we’ll be seeing high-80s heat at the hottest part of the day. Your low is gonna jump up a bit to 70 degrees.

One characteristic of fall in Florida is a drastic shift in temperatures from hot during the day to comfortable or cool during the evening. The trick to handling temperature changes? Layers! Bring extra layers that you can toss on if you happen to feel a little chilly.

September 30th

For Thursday, September 30th, we’re seeing a day with another consistent prediction of temperatures in the high-80s and a beautiful evening at 71 degrees.

STILL no rain in the forecast and (spoiler alert), there’s not ANY high rain chances predicted for the whole week! We’re not saying leave that rain jacket at home, but you might actually see a totally dry week during your trip.

October 1st

The week continues with similar temperatures in the day and in the nighttime on October 1st. You’ll notice that high is dropping into the mid-80s. Could we be done with 90 degree and up temperatures for the year!?

There are a few breezy days in the forecast next week too. That might contribute to the need for a jacket or it might make those warmer days feel downright PERFECT.

October 2nd

Saturday, October 2nd brings us more warm temps up in the mid-80s. Take a look at those UV and humidity levels. They’re certainly a bit lower than during the peak of summer, but those UV levels can still be dangerous.

That means you’ve GOT to wear that sunscreen! Here, we’ll see an 85-degree high and a 68-degree low.

October 3rd

And we’ll wrap up our week on October 3rd with still warm temperatures and a beautiful day of mixed sunshine and clouds.

Days are inching shorter here in Florida, but you’ll still have PLENTY of daylight to enjoy the theme parks. Next week, expect sunrise around 7:20AM and sunset around 7:10PM.

Overview of the Week

Here is a full overview of the week according to The Weather Channel. Temperatures are projected to hang out in about the same place for the whole week again (but cooler than usual!). We’re looking at a range of 80s highs and 60s to 70s lows.

Tips for Weathering the Weather!

So, what are our best tips for packing when it comes to this week’s forecast?

Be prepared for sudden changes!

The trick with a cold front is that it messes with the expectations of weather. Sure, we’re expecting to see no rain and cooler temperatures, but that could change at any moment! Don’t take this forecast for granted. You still need to pack for the unexpected.

Rainy Day

Rain could crop up and it could end up being hotter than the experts are predicting. As we said, keep checking the forecast and make sure you pack a rain layer (like a poncho or rain jacket) in your park bag just in case. You can always toss them on on Splash Mountain even if it doesn’t rain!

Here’s how to handle those temperatures!

We’re looking at a mix of hotter temperatures during the day and comfier temperatures during the evening. We want you feeling great during your Disney days, so make sure you know how YOU’LL feel in those temps. Maybe 68 degrees is cold for you; maybe 89 degrees is unbearably hot. Dress for YOUR tolerance levels.

EPCOT Light Collection

Err on the side of caution and pack a light jacket if you think you might get a bit chilly during the evening. And regardless of whether 89 degrees is too hot for you, wear sunscreen and drink a lot of water. You don’t want to mess up your vacation by getting sunburned or sick.
