In case you missed it, Disney World had some BIG announcements this morning.
We learned when the new Star Wars hotel is opening, got an opening timeline for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster, and learned about new, interactive MagicBands called MagicBand+. The huge news drop included all kinds of updates, but one MAJOR update was missing from these announcements.
After we heard all the news, we just had one question: What about TRON?
Disney World started building the TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom back in 2018. Since then, we’ve kept a close eye on the construction progress, anxiously waiting for the announcement that it’s close to finished.
But Disney has been mysteriously silent about the roller coaster. Their announcements today addressed a lot of other major projects going on, but conspicuously did not include an update for the Magic Kingdom ride. We’re assuming that, based on Disney’s silence and how the construction looks now, that the opening timeline of the ride is fluid.
Although we’ve seen some progress on the construction, it still doesn’t look close to finished from the outside.
So when could the new TRON ride open in Disney World? Right now, we can only speculate. Hopefully, we get more information soon! But we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything, so keep following DFB!
