Orlando Airport Expects MAJOR Crowds Labor Day Weekend

The global health crisis had a major effect on travel in 2020 and 2021.

Still, travel has been reaching more and more normal levels. Despite the fact that there is a lull in traffic right now, it seems that the Orlando International Airport may see significant crowds for the upcoming holiday weekend.

According to Click Orlando, Orlando International Airport (MCO) expects more than 303,000 departures during Labor Day weekend. That’s a 7% increase above pre-pandemic Labor Day in 2019.

Labor Day 2020 saw fewer than half that number of flights during the Thursday to Tuesday holiday period. The busiest travel day is expected to be Saturday with more than 53,000 departures forecasted.

Of course, traffic at the airport can be a good indicator of crowds in Disney World since both figures are travel-based. It’s possible that we’ll have to say goodbye to the shockingly low crowds we’ve been seeing in the parks recently.

Regardless, this kick-up in airport travel above 2019 levels shows that the airport may be seeing a rebound after the major drop in operations during the pandemic.
