Disney recently announced its new program that will replacing Disney World’s FastPass+ — Disney Genie+.
The new program will be a part of Disney Genie in the My Disney Experience app and will launch sometime this fall. While Genie is a free planning tool, Genie+ is a paid program that will let you skip most of the standby lines like FastPass+ did. Instead of entering the FastPass+ lanes, you will enter the Lightning Lanes at rides. We have already seen signs for Lightning Lanes go up in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and today, we found some in Hollywood Studios!
First, we spotted the new Lightning Lane sign at Alien Swirling Saucers!
The Lightning Lane has just replaced the old FastPass+ lane.
These lanes are not open for use right now, as Genie+ hasn’t launched yet!
Next, we found another Lightning Lane at Toy Story Mania!
This one is also right where the old FastPass+ lane used to be.
Moving over to the Disney Junior Dance Party, we found that the FastPass+ lane has been replaced with a Lightning Lane here as well!
Guests will essentially use these Lightning Lanes the same way they used the FastPass+ lanes.
And finally, we saw signage for a Lightning Lane at Tower of Terror!
However, this was only on the initial wait time sign, it’s not yet installed over the lane at the entrance to the ride.
These Lightning Lanes will be accessible at over 40 rides at Disney World. If you pay the $15 per day, per ticket, you can make a reservation for one ride at a time to show up and use the Lightning Lane to skip most of the line. There are also Lightning Lanes at select high demand attractions that you will only be able to access by paying individually. We’re sure to see more Lightning Lanes pop up around Disney World soon, so stay tuned and we’ll let you know what we find!
