PHOTOS: This Disney World Drink Needs a “Not As Advertised” Warning ⚠️

We love eating and drinking at Disney World (obviously), but not everything they do is a win.

Purple Poison Apple Stein

There’s been plenty of food fails over the years, like the infamous Pumpkin Pretzel, or the Space Sandwich that looked a lot like mold. Today we tried a drink that’s been around for a while (and by a while, we mean it’s a Halloween drink that has stuck around for a year), though the current version is a little…sad. Let’s get into what Disney has changed (ahem…taken away) from the current version of this cocktail.

Today at Isle of Java in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we noticed that the Rotten Apple is STILL HERE. This drink first arrived for Halloween in 2020, and it includes Apple Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider and Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey served over ice with gummy worms for $11.

Rotten Apple is back!

So let’s go back in time to 2020, when the Rotten Apple drink looked like this for Halloween. It cost $15 and it also included a poison apple glow cube. Note the gummy worms that were included as garnishes.

Then…Christmas rolled around and guess what, this drink did NOT disappear. Yup, we also saw this same drink having a bit of an identity crisis during the holiday season of 2020, with a holiday glow cube instead of a poison apple (and they still included gummy worms for some reason??) for $15.

“Holiday” Drink

Now, after seeing those drinks from 2020, let us present to you the Rotten Apple cocktail of today. Um. Yeah. This costs $11 and although the placard includes gummy worms in the photo and description, they didn’t have any today. Womp womp.

2021 Rotten Apple Drink

Let’s compare again. This is 2020’s Halloween Rotten Apple cocktail with gummy worms and a poison apple glow cube versus…

Rotten Apple

2021’s Rotten Apple cocktail. Hey Disney, is there a reason why this drink has stuck around?! And if it is going to stick around, can the gummy worms at least come back?! And the glow cube!! We’re suckets for a seasonal glow cube.

Now when it comes to taste, this just looks and tastes like a glass of apple juice.

2021 Rotten Apple Drink

Although this drink includes Fireball Whiskey, we could only taste apple. There was no cinnamon spice at all!

If you want an alcoholic version of apple juice, this would be great for you. But Fireball Whiskey fans might be disappointed with the lack of cinnamon spice and flavor. So if you’re still into this drink, you can find it at Isle of Java in Animal Kingdom for $11, and hopefully next time they’ll have gummy worms. But we’re NGL, we’re ready for something new and exciting to take its place! Keep reading DFB for all your Disney World food and drink news!
