Disney announced last month that a new planning program would be coming to the My Disney Experience app in Disney World called Disney Genie.
Genie is free and is designed to be used as a planning tool that is supposed to make your time at Disney World easier. It will have features like custom itineraries, forecasted wait times, and a virtual assistant. It’s scheduled to launch this fall, however, we do not have an official date yet. But today, we DID get a look at what Genie will look like when you’re using it on your phone!
During a media event today, we saw a demonstration of what Disney Genie will look like on your phone. This demonstration was only for Disney Genie, not Genie+ or the Individual Attraction Selections — the parts of the program that cost money.
In the new program, you’ll get to choose your park interests…
…and your Disney favorites.
You can even choose your “Top Picks” of attractions, entertainment, and dining locations. This is supposed to help Genie give you better suggestions based on what you enjoy.
If you switch over to your tip board, Genie will show you what’s going on with your Top Picks.
It will also show you the next available reservation times and the walk-up list time for the restaurants in your Top Picks.
Then, you can switch over to the “My Day” section to see your plans for the day all in one place.
It will show you the park hours for the park you have a park pass for, the hotel you’re staying at (if you’re staying on Disney property), your park pass, and, if you’re using Genie+, the Lightning Lane attraction you have scheduled.
This is also where you’ll find the dining reservations you have scheduled for the day.
In this section will also be where Genie Recommendations will “fly” in, like this example showing which ride you should go on next. It tells you the best time to go to that ride and the forecasted wait time!
You can also see recommendations for dining locations and when the next mobile order window is available.
And, there are some filters that come with the app to use on your camera, like this one that turns you into Genie. Honestly, it’s kind of terrifying!
Hopefully the other filters will look less scary. We’ll keep you updated with more about Disney Genie, so stay tuned to DFB for news!
