Who’s ready to get their day started off right with some breakfast in Disney’s Hollywood Studios??
We recently headed out to Woody’s Lunch Box, the quick-service spot in Toy Story Land, to check out their breakfast options. Will the breakfast food stand up to the fan-favorite lunch and dinner options like the Totchos and Lunch Box Tarts? Saddle up, partners, because it’s time to dive right into “the most important meal of the day!”
If you’ve ever found yourself ruuuuushing to Toy Story Land first thing in the morning to try and catch a short line for Slinky Dog Dash, (or maybe you’re en route to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!) you might know the sounds of your grumbly tummy begging for breakfast. Problem is…this part of the park is a bit sparse when it comes to food options. For that, you’re gonna need to shrink down to a toy-sized version of yourself!
Atmosphere
Okay, everybody magically toy-sized now?? Great, then let’s head on over to Woody’s Lunch Box! This small spot is the name of the game when it comes to food in Toy Story Land (until Rodeo Roundup BBQ decides to EVER finish up and open, that is!).
You’ll find Woody’s Lunch Box over near Alien Swirling Saucers (and basically about as close to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as you can get before you need to start saying you’re “off world” on Batuu!).
The location is about as cute and cool-looking as you’d imagine. It’s basically a Woody’s Roundup lunch box (yep, it’s a literal lunch box!) turned on its side, and everything in the immediate area is stuff you might find in Andy’s school lunch!
YES, you can sit on hunks of Babybel cheese (talk about clever product placement!).
You’ll spy animal crackers, juice boxes, packages of cookies, and more. Even the pickup windows are surrounded by celery and carrots (c’mon, you know Andy’s mom had to try and get Andy to eat a LITTLE healthy, right?!).
The seating LOOKS copious, but those big tables and fun chairs actually don’t hold as many bodies as you’d think, meaning it tends to be pretty packed most of the day, in our experience.
We Mobile Ordered our meal and arrived to pick it up. This spot can feel a bit hectic at times when it’s busy and you’re trying to get your food. Just try to be patient. If possible, send one person in your crew to pick up the food since the pickup area gets especially crowded.
With that, it’s time to eat!
Eats
The restaurant currently has two breakfast specialties listed on the menu. First, there’s the Breakfast Bowl, which is a hefty portion of potato barrels (AKA tots to the rest of the world) covered in smoked brisket country gravy, scrambled eggs, and green onions. And then there’s the Kid’s Breakfast Bowl, which is a smaller version of the regular Breakfast Bowl, served with a Cuties mandarin, a side of potato barrels, and your choice of beverage.
Previously, this spot had a slightly wider variety of breakfast options including a S’mores French Toast Sandwich we enjoyed as well as a few other goodies to pick for breakfast.
But for now, it’s just those tot bowls.
We decided to order both of them to see how the portions compare! Let’s start with the regular Breakfast Bowl. This was definitely a huge portion and, if you don’t typically go for a large breakfast, it could easily be shared by at least two adults. And at $8.79, that’s a pretty good deal, especially if you’re splitting between a few people!
By comparison, we thought the Kid’s Breakfast Bowl was the perfect portion for breakfast. Plus, it came with two sides and a full-sized drink for $5.49, which is a super affordable breakfast, especially when it comes to Disney World park pricing!
Of course, we’ve gotta talk flavor, because that factors into whether these bowls are “worth it” too! Both the regular and kid’s size bowls tasted the same since they were made with the exact same ingredients. We really liked the smoked brisket gravy, it was pretty heavy and thick, but not too salty. If you’re a fan of sausage gravy, you’ll probably enjoy the brisket gravy twist.
The scrambled eggs were nice and light, and the potato barrels were crispy, although they may lose some of their crispiness towards the end of the meal as the gravy soaks in. We also added hot sauce to ours, which was available in the condiment station, and it added a nice extra kick.
The side of potato barrels were also super crispy as well. We’re gonna be real with you for a sec on our beef with these “potato barrels” though. Most spots you find tots in Disney World they’re, understandably, deep-fried. Not at Woody’s. Woody’s tots are baked, not fried. If you’re looking for a slightly healthier tot, sure. But if you want ultra salty/crispy tater tot perfection, these are not it. They’re…fine. But in our hearts, fried tots>baked tots any day. That said, these tots were OK and crispier than we’ve had them in the past.
Overall, we really enjoyed the flavor, but these breakfasts are pretty heavy as far as breakfast foods go. Which is all the more reason we would prefer to either share the full-sized portion or opt for the kid’s portion.
Since we think the regular-sized bowl could easily be shared, it’s a pretty good deal at $8.79. But keep in mind, it doesn’t come with sides or a drink. This is why the Kid’s Breakfast Bowl was the winner for us! A perfectly portioned breakfast bowl, plus two sides and a drink? Sign us up!
Moral of the story: the kids’ bowl here is a rock solid awesome good deal. We often tell you how kids’ meals can be a great pick for adults that aren’t starving. This is a GREAT example of that. We got almost as much food and a drink for almost half the price. Breakfast under $6? Sounds good to us! If you struggle with heavy foods in the morning, you might want to skip this one or opt to share it with a few people. But if that’s not a concern for you, we’d give this Woody’s Lunch Box breakfast two thumbs up!
Nosh or Not
Mosey over to Woody’s Lunch Box if…
- You are looking for a hearty, quick meal in Hollywood Studios.
- You want something quick in between rides on Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Midway Mania.
- You’re looking for a “stick to your ribs” kinda breakfast.
Dine somewhere else in Hollywood Studios if…
- You’re looking for lighter or healthier (or plant-based) options.
- You want to sit down in some air-conditioning and take your time for breakfast.
- You don’t like eggs…or gravy…or any of the components here. With really just one food option for breakfast, you need to like all the components to make it worth a stop here.
Overall
Woody’s Lunch Box delivers some consistent quality for everyone in the family. There aren’t a lot of breakfast options here, really just the adult or kids’ breakfast bowls, so you don’t have to worry about making any difficult decisions early in the morning — you just have to decide how hungry you are. Those hefty bowls not your thing? You can walk just a bit farther and be in Galaxy’s Edge in a second. There, may we recommend the always delish Ronto Wrap in breakfast form or the original!
The theming here is so fun and detailed, so you can really have fun scoping out all of the little details while you dine. And just because it’s kid-friendly doesn’t mean that there aren’t some fun details that only adults would notice and can enjoy. So, for the kids or kids-at-heart, Woody’s Lunch Box is still a great spot.
Again, we do wish the menu was a bit more expansive. Bring back some of the lost breakfast foods you once had, Woody’s! ONE thing for breakfast when this is really your best bet for quick food in this area of the park is a bit…limiting. That said, we did enjoy the bowls and think you can get a great deal here for an affordable breakfast. We’ll keep trying out the foods at all of the parks and resorts (for science, of course), so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World dining updates!
