Disney Parks Blog has given us a first look at the menus for Steakhouse 71 which is set to open October 1st! Steakhouse 71 will be located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the location that formerly housed The Wave of American Flavors. While many have been saddened by the closure of The Wave, others are excited at the prospect of a steakhouse once again joining The Contemporary. Some might remember Concourse Steakhouse which sat in the current location of Contempo Cafe.
First, we are given a look at the concept art for inside the restaurant. Steakhouse 71 gets its name for the year the resort opened. While the restaurant will reflect the 70s, the seating appears modern, yet comfortable. I’m always a big fan of booth seating as well as cushioned seating which appears prevalent in the artwork.
I’m excited to learn that Steakhouse 71 will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a lounge menu much like The Wave did. Breakfast has a variety of typical American breakfast choices as well as some more interesting selections like the Florida Eggs Benedict with crab cakes and Walt’s Prime Rib Hash. Both of those sound amazing.
For lunch, you’ll find some typical steakhouse mid-day dishes such as French onion soup, burgers, and other sandwiches. Some items that caught my eye were the pasta salad as a side option (I love a good pasta salad) and the gourmet grilled cheese- carmelized onion jam should go on everything.
Dinner is going to be the star of the show here and the photos and menu are not disappointing. A few notable offerings include the prime rib and Yorkshire pudding and dry-aged bone-in rib-chop. I do want to point out the famous Bacon and Eggs from The Wave has made it to the appetizer menu. Smart move, Disney!
On the dessert menu, we have another familiar dish, a layered cake. There was a well-known 7-layer cake on the menu at Top of the World Lounge that made its way to The Wave during the closure. This particular cake seems to be different as I don’t remember Jack-Daniels being part of the equation before. Not sure how I feel about Jack-Daniels in my cake, but I’ll be interested to see how this cake stacks (pun intended) up against its former version.
Disney has not skimped on the lounge menu. There are some fun-looking dishes you can snack on while enjoying the variety of drinks. One interesting option is the PB&J wings with peanut glaze and jelly powder.
Steakhouse 71 will also offer a variety of wines from “Disney Family of Wines” and theming will evoke a 70s vibe to pay homage to the resort’s opening days. I don’t know about you, but after looking at the menus and photos, I’m excited to check out the new Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Since replacing The Wave, it will have a lot to live up to and I’ll be interested to see if it delivers.
Reservations for Steakhouse 71 will open on September 16th. If you’re interested in booking your Disney vacation and experiencing this new restaurant, head over to Dreams Unlimited Travel and connect with one of our expert travel agents. Stay tuned to wdwinfo.com for the latest Disney news.
